  1. Nice catch When I target Brookies and Splake through the ice I rarely fish in water more than 10 - 12 feet, they like it shallow. Sometimes I'm in less than 5 FOW.
  2. Right! lol
  3. I did 95% of my ice fishing then and now on my own, it's the way to go. However back in the late 70's my Dad's best friend and our neighbour, whose kids I actually used to baby sit moved up to Pefferlaw and had one of the biggest operations on Lake Simcoe at the time. It was easy to accept the offers he gave me including any hut I wanted and the transportation I needed to get me there.
  4. I remember paying $22.00 per person what still seems like only yesterday in my rapidly aging mind.
  5. I'm thinking I need to try a version of this on the BBQ with the smoke box going....Hell Ya!
  6. That's a discussion best left for political forums.
  7. The one and only time I fished Nipigon the western shoreline was on fire. The land of dreams. Good times.
  8. Me too, but only brown sugar (dark or light), equal to the amount of salt in the brine. In my opinion it's all a brine really needs and for what it's worth I never use chlorinated water in my brine.
  9. My pleasure Doug. Funny you should mention cutting into strips because afterwards I thought to myself that's exactly what I should of done. The upside is I still have three more breasts in the freezer so next time that will be the plan.
  10. This bird gobbles no more. I had planned to do this meal on Christmas day but just ran out of steam and ambition so I had it yesterday. The wild Turkey breast got an extra 24 hours in the OJ, Teryaki and Garlic marinade before I floured, egg washed and bread crumb coated it for the air fryer. The picture is of only one breast that I had to cut in half for ease of handling (friggin thing was huge, completely filled the air fryer!). I barely ate a quaarter of the one half, but it was delish, nice and moist and full of flavour. I will be eating up this Turkey breast for a few days I'm sure.
  11. Brook was also a Collie cross CM, Border and Sheltie, smart as a whip and like Izzy, was also a rescue pup. She came down with sinus/brain cancer and only lived a few months once diagnosed. Numerous trips to Guelph sadly could not buy her any more time. I eventually had to take her to emergency the evening of the 16th, some 15 hours ahead of a scheduled euthanization to end her suffering. She was 11.5 years of age.
  12. Six years ago today at 7:10 pm I said goodbye to this beautiful girl (in my embrace) years to soon. 😓 I miss you everyday Brook, you were an amazingly brilliant and wonderful companion.. 💖
  13. Good Lord, 20 years passed. I too remember you informing us all here back in the day Lew of this sad and terribly tragic (unnecessary) loss of your son. Time they say heals all wounds but sadly we don't live for the eternity that it would take. Prayers for you and family on this very sad anniversary Lew.
  14. The "gun ban" is not about protecting tax paying Canadians, it's entirely about protecting the terrified child dictator who is implementing the confiscation.
  15. All you Hunter's here may enjoy the irony of this little video .....
  16. I sure hope they don't make my "assault style" blacked out Bowie Knife illegal ! Mind you I have a non blacked one that'll likely remain legal.
  17. Me too Phil, me too!
  18. When I was a young teen, this floored me .......
  19. And now for something...entirely out of left field.....!
  20. Here's a link to our club's January guest speaker's YouTube channel who undoubtedly will be talking about all things new with Humminbird including Mega Live 2. https://www.youtube.com/@stevechiassonfishing5876/videos
  21. Thank you Cliff. Long time indeed my friend, I hope you are well? You can PM me here anytime to discuss a build if the desire strikes you, or drop in for a visit anytime you're out my way.
  22. My Grandparents owned and lived in a 3 level walk up appt complex by the stadium (Melrose Ave), I was there with my family visiting them the day of, pissed that I was told I was to young (15) to attend. However in good old Scottish fashion my Grandfather made a small fortune in parking fees on his property for the event that day. This one actually......
