  1. thx for that #, just called them and re-ordered. I should have the parts in my hand in a week for about $10
  2. thx guys. you are a whole lot faster than Daiwa!!
  3. I sent the following e-mail to Daiwa nearly a month ago and haven't heard a peep!! "I would like to get the following replacement parts for my reel: Part 25 Line roller screw Part 30 Line roller washer Can I buy these directly from you, or do I need to contact a dealer? As a minimum, if the screw is not readily available, I would like to know the dimensional specs for it. i.e thread size and type." Has anyone dealt with a dealer for Daiwa? Any luck? thx
  4. Yet another useless thread!!-----------------ooops, sorry about that. I guess I was supposed to be constructive! I agree with you Pete up to a point, but only up to a point. I also agree with other posters that it's humor that keeps the place alive and sometimes the humor gets lost. The saying is that 'sarcasm is the lowest form of wit' and I guess some of us reach a bit too far trying to be funny at times. Then, of course, there are the downright nasty and obviously unhelpful posts---no excuse for those.
  5. I was just introduced to the top-water technique using those rubber froggies a few weeks ago. I thought that you'd fish with the hooks turned upward in heavy cover but flip the hooks down if the cover was light. Never mind the hook-up percentage, I got a big kick out of watching the fish jump for it even if most were just hammer handle pike! For me it was quite a different type of fishing----more like fly fishing than the usual cast and retrieve.
  6. retrofitting my canoe with AC is going to stretch my handyman skills!!!
  7. But you would have me wear one on a scorching hot day so that I'd need to jump in the lake periodically to cool off, then put it back on again in the boat in case I fall back out!!
  8. In 5 days fish change from food to fertilizer!
  9. I wear my pfd in my canoe unless it's hot and the water is warm. If I was req'd by law to wear it I'd have to jump into the lake more often just to cool off! I would probably still be OK to take my pfd off while swimming but I'd have to put it on when I got back into the canoe in case I fell into the lake. If this makes sense to you give your head a good vigorous shake!!
  10. When in doubt use a Big O----cray or white.
  11. Rather than a sat phone I would try 1 of these: http://www.inreachdelorme.com/ My fishing buddy has 1. You don't seem to have to wait for a sat to pass overhead anywhere near as long as you would with a sat phone. Apart from the 911 feature, it can be used to re-assure the worriers at home that you are OK via texting. On a trip up North out of cell phone reach my buddy used it to send msgs to his wife and our base camp.
  12. Going out to Mr. Greek for supper tonite. Our friends Hans and Gerda are coming. They'll be paying so I guess we'll really splurge!!!
  13. Put a bit of rum in it and the fish will be feeling no pain!!(P3TA would approve!!)
  14. Yes indeed, but I expecting a different version of 'quickie' from such a young guy!
  15. a swift kick in the groin might have to do in a pinch!!!
  16. Psychology 101 - Behaviour Experiment
  17. I know what you mean. I used to be young and stupid, but now I'm old!! Pretty sad way to go!
  18. Can I come too?? I've got a hammer and saw!!
  19. I had to play with my FF quite a bit in winter before I could see my lure. Turn the fish ID off for sure. How do you plan on keeping your boat on the spot? an Ipilot or lots of rope?
  20. Should make sure you get below the frost line!!!
  21. I not so much proud to be a Canadian as I am glad and grateful to be one. We have sometimes canoe camped where there's nobody to be seen or heard---maybe 2-4 people a few kms down the ;lake and I think to myself(or say out loud) "What a country. How lucky we are"
