  1. Miro, This club in Scarboro http://www.pathcom.com/~coachman/ used to teach casting and maybe still does. I don't know if Gord Deval is still active(Google him to see links to his books), but he was the instructor and a champion fly caster. They used a school gym in winter but had some activity in the summer. (I got to go to a couple of secret fishing spots with Gord & co. They used code names when referring to 2 of those lakes!)
  2. ditto!!
  3. I'm no psychic, but I an see that, sooner or later, we're going to get a aging argument going here!!
  4. The biggest cause of stress is that the rest of the world doesn't live by our rules. Nevertheless, if it's illegal and endangering me as well as innocent bystanders, as driving with cellphone does, then I feel free to criticize.
  5. Did he get to come again?!
  6. I must admit the phrase "get a life" did cross my mind!
  7. As I understand it, stocking lakes is a trial and error process. .i.e. the MNR, or counterpart in other jurisdictions, assess the lakes characteristics and decide if the lake is suitable for whatever fish they are considering stocking, but they do make mistakes and sometimes they don't 'take'. Why not call the MNR and find out what they know?
  8. Sheesh! Now you tell me. I just bought a Compre at LeBarons yesterday. Tell me it was car doors and trunk lids, Ok?
  9. Wow! I'm trying to imagine your trip. You must have a big group to use so many minnows. How many people? I think we'll hedge our bets by taking a few anyway. It's not such a big hassle on a remote drive-in trip.
  10. Ok, now that we got this rant going, here's the thing that really gets me---the ones who get into the car and drive off still on the phone!! (come out of a store or whatever!!
  11. Oh, I misunderstood your topi title. I thought it was like this one: http://www.jokes.com/funny/aging/baseball-in-heaven
  12. Can never find a good Sherpa when you really need one!
  13. Thx for the tips! Keep 'er comin', boyz! So, Mike, I guess I need some painkiller for my problematic rotator cuff?! I gather that this comment applies to places a bit further north than Grimsby? It sounds like I might have to crouch down in the boat to put on bait!??
  14. OK, here's a question to get y'all distracted from the MNR and NHL talk!. We are going to a fairly remote drive-in cabin near Nakina for the first week of June, fishing for walleye and(we hope) some monster pike. What type of lures work best? Should we bother with the hassle of finding and carrying minnows? I figured drift fishing with minnows might be quite productive and give our arms a break from casting and be a change of routine from trolling. I know Mike Solo has fished up there but he seems to be able to catch fish on a bare hook in a barrel, but what about the rest of you folks? Of course, many of your tips would apply to other areas and might be appreciated by others who are looking to improve their 'luck'. Thx for your input.
  15. priceless pix! esp the first. I couldn't get my kids interested either. Like was said above, I need to catch more!
  16. They are sea-run browns
  17. Man, I'm speechless!!. What trout, what a well written report---can feel the drama! Flesh it out a bit and submit to a magazine
  18. At that age and with all that time in the bush I'm surprised that even a moose would start to look good!
  19. Apart from freezing tour butt, how was the fishing?
  20. So how was your trip? Trout pix?
  21. Give us the GPS co-ords and we'll be right over!!
  22. I've seen guys fly fish the Elora Gorge for browns, I think.
  23. No kidding. What a snow job!! Seems to me that if OFAH wants to get more people on their side they would be a bit more forthcoming with straight answers.
  24. Where's the duct tape? The last time I tried towing the boat it went off without a hitch.
  25. Similar to WD, I just dust with a bit of flour and pan fry with oil. Leave the skin on to keep the moisture in. To each his own I guess, but I no more want to add extraneous flavors to a fine piece of fish than I would to a fine cut of beef.
