  1. Can't give up the better deer hunting & smallmouth fishing. The musky fishing in Lake St. Clair & the spring walleye run in the Detroit River would be hard to give up. Plus a Yankee like me wouldn't be too welcome down there. I always did get some strange looks when I would stop on my drive down to Florida. Getting passed by a semi on the highway while I'm doing 85-90 mph is a like scary too. If the economy in Michigan doesn't get better soon I may have to move down your way. Wouldn't be able to sell my house though.
  2. Is the drag power rating going to make much difference? I notice that the Cardiff has a drag power rating of 10 lbs, where as other popular musky reels like the C3, C4 & Record have 22 lbs, 17lbs, & 17-22 lbs. I'm looking into a new musky casting reel myself & have been thinking about getting the Abu Garcia Record. I'm going to do the BPS reel trade-in for $25 off plus a $15 rebate. Shimano isn't participating in the reel trade-in in the US.
  3. I say the later. No need to rub it in while the rest of us have to suffer.
  4. Just like with the Rodney King video you don't see what happened before the camera was rolling. In this case the kids had edited out the beginning of the video to make the cop look bad. They are just some punk kids with no respect for authority & they need a good swift kick in the arse. The kid’s parents also need a kick in the arse as well for raising such disrespectful punks.
  5. There is no such thing as "The Perfect Boat". I've looked at just about every freshwater fishing boat for years & still haven't found the perfect boat. I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't exist. If only they could take the inside layout for the Lund 2025 Pro-V SE & put it inside the Ranger 620VS I'd probably have my perfect boat.
  6. I've used Trilene Sensation (6lb) and have been happy with it. Cast really well & good knot strength. The BPS flouro is really good as well. By all means stay away from Fireline Crystal, that stuff us total crap.
  7. I'll second that. My buddy has the Cabelas Gudie Series & it's been working great for him. He tripped & fell in the water on our fly-in trip a few years ago & the only thing that got wet were his feet. I have the cheaper knock off Gore-tex from Cabelas & it has worked great for me.

    Cabelas

I've always had good experience when ordering from Cabelas. Since they opened the store in Michigan I haven't had much need to order online unless they have their free shipping offers then I save on gas. Plus they don’t charge sales tax. I just wish they had better deals on their spring sales like BPS does.
  9. I like my soft sided bag & won't be going back to a hard case.
  10. I bought some YUM Samuri Shads (saltwater bait) last year that I had seen Bob Izumi using on the Detroit River for walleye. On the river I caught a master angler white sucker on them but no walleye. Then I went up to my in-laws cottage in Houghton Lake, MI & I caught a lot of walleye on them along with some smallies & big rock bass. They are now my new confidence lure. I also tried some Storm kick'n minnows out on Lake St. Clair but haven't caught anything on the them yet.
  11. My son's first walleye. My son's first pike My lazy good for nothing dog after a swim in the lake My monster Lake St. CLair musky My huge LSC smallie Motor City Walleye LSC Carp'n
  12. You need to realize that most US hockey players come from Minnesota, Wisconsin, & Michigan. There's not much interest for kids in the other states to play because there's not that many places for them to play. Those that have rinks in their area have to pay big $$$ for ice time so only the well to do kids gets to play. I'm sure Ontario will have no problem beating the US team.
  13. I was looking at the Clam Guide myself just a few days ago at Gander Mountain here in Michigan. The stores here in Michigan have a good supply of all the Clam ice shelters.
  14. I've been using Cabela's Snagmaster for over 12 years & I lost count of how many lures that it saved along with my buddies lures. There have been times when I couldn't free the lure & ended up pulling up the tree that the lure was snagged on. I highly recommend it. Snagmaster
  15. I was comparing aluminum boats on-line & when comparing the Triton DV 18 Magnum with the Crestliner Fish Hawk 1850 WT I found these boats to be very similar. Does anyone know if Triton aluminum & Crestliner boats are made by the same company?
  16. Congrats on the new PB. BTW, you year round soft water fisherman make me sick. lol j/k, I'm jealous.
  17. Get yourself a Toro. They are the best in my opinion. I have one that's over 20 years old & it's still going strong. Avoid Snapper (AKA Crapper), they are junk. When I had mine in for a tune-up a few years ago the repair guy recommended that I use the synthetic 2-cycle oil because it doesn't break down & separate from the gas like regular oil does. Plus it won't gum up the carb & cause hard starts. I always add Stabil to my gas along with the synthetic oil & I don't have to worry about running out the gas at the end of the season & it starts right up the next snow season. You could also buy a used quad & put a plow on it then you would have something that you'll get several uses out of.
  18. Me neither. I used to work for Best Buy selling computers & they (management) always pushed us to sell the extended warranties because they were a high mark up. The more we sold the better bonus that the managers got. If you maintain the motor properly & don't drive it into sand/rock bars you shouldn't have any problems with it.
  19. Thanks for posting that link. Now I'll have something to do while I'm at work.
  20. That's awesome Jen. Congrats.
  21. LOL Nice photoshop work there Irish.
  22. I say he’s the best right now because he’s been a great clutch player this year. When the Wings needed him to score he came through for them. He just had a hat trick tonight. Of course Don Cherry wouldn’t say he’s the best because he hates European players.
