You can get some really colorful Rapala and Cotton Cordell hard baits. Just a suggestion.

Installing a battery (for lights, etc) in a 14' aluminum
bassjnkie replied to digitalkreation's topic in General Discussion
Basic you mean just benches? You can get the battery, LED lights that clamp on. Bass Pro sells them, check out the link. Batteries do last long. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...5005000_225-5-0 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...5005000_225-5-0 -
A few small ones where caught from shore yesterday close to where Terry took those pics. If the pump on the east side is running I would suggest to use a boat near the over hanging/submerged trees and definatley around and under the bridge. I would use a 1/64 jig head and a white or minnow colour tube under a very sensetive float. This time of the year they shy bite, watch you float for any movement. I noticed sometimes that the float doesn't go down on a take, instead the float moves sideways. Hope this help, these are some tips that Ive been useing for the past 14 years fishing that river. Oh ya, the pike like to come in there around the same time the crappie run, it's fun landing them on 2# test though.

The old owner of the dock/property sold it, let's see if the new one will let us fish there.

Joey I wouldn't worry about it, before you posted these pictures everyone and their grandmother knew about that place, it's plastered all over the net. I don't see a problem of holding the fish like that as long as your careful around the gills. BTW, nice haul, great looking fish!!!

A buddy or mine bought one new this year for $200 at some place in Orangeville. You can also get them for $200 on ebay shipped from Ontario.

It's legal for predators. From what I learned, you can't use it for turkey, deer or moose and others. Unless they changed the law.

Question regarding rods for plastics (weightless)
bassjnkie replied to rbaquial's topic in General Discussion
I went through 5 rods before settling with the one I use for weightless plastics. I found I get great distance and less headaches with a 7', medium heavy, extra fast action. The 4" senko's are light but they fly. I have to check but I think the rod is a bass pro extreme. Hope this helps -
rod pod i have made..spring is here he he....
bassjnkie replied to spinnerdoc's topic in General Discussion
Looks study and light. Very nice. Next step is to test it out. -
If your willing, you can probably arrange to ship them to a service center. Just a thought.

Floats vary, meaning what they can handle for shot. Personally I just shot the float, shot by shot, until I get the sensitivity I want. Basically under shot is less sensitive and a little over shot is more sensitive.you will know it's too much when the float goes under. Most eagle claw and thill budget float don't mention how much shot they take. I use euro floats made for match fishing, and it say the shot in grams.

This is my smallie replica. Story behind it wasn't to exciting. My buddy bought a boat in 2003, so we decided to take it out to rice lake and hit some islands. Back then I had 100's of buzzbaits but never used them. So we get to the spot and I decided to us one, first cast this smallie hits the bait like a tank. Great fight and probably one of my favorite fights for bass. The buzzbait pictured is the I caught it on.

Continuously talk to here about fishing while she's watching it. Kidding.

For a bait you can't go wrong with a suspending jerk bait. Like Kemper said twitch, twitch pause, give it 10-15 seconds suspending time. If the pike are there I am sure you get a few or more.

Well I did the silicone and thread thing and headed off to The Ponds, there was only a little open water, but enough to test them out. Put it this way, the snap idea is not for me, I just didn't like the feel. I think I will just buy a few more rods and tie directly to the bait like I always did. Anyways thanks for all the suggestions and ideas.

What's the best braided line for baitcasting?
bassjnkie replied to tschirk's topic in General Discussion
The problem you are having with the line digging is because the line isn't spooled on tight enough. 90% of the time that's the reason. Irishfield has the perfect remedy, I've done it many times with great results. For the line 30 - 50# Power pro or Suffix braid. I have tried them all over the years and never had problems with these braids. Hope this helps -
I've tried them all, and I really like Kaspersky, works great for me. It's fast, runs in the background so there is no computer slow down like Norton.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I will try some of the suggestions.

May be some one can help me out with this. I usually tie me flouo to the "R" bend, but is there a way of making it, so that I can use a snap as a quick change. Any ideas?

Mike, bad news. FishOnline is no longer open or even there. The store was gutted a couple months ago. But Fish Ontario on hwy 400 (905.832.4566) has some ground bait and don't quote on this, a few Drennan items. Jeff will be the best person to contact, 1.613.534.2546 as mentioned. Another option for Drennan items is Ebay.co.uk, the exchange rate is in our favor, I mean a lot lower than what it was. Make sure the seller ships to Canada, not all of them do.

Thanks for the replies. For the steel leader, I went to Dollarama and picked up those small craft baggies. Then coiled the leader up individually and placed them 1 per baggie. Then I went to Bass Pro for some Seaguar Flouro, I have to give the leader a try.

Never thought of that, the same way the musky hunters set it up. Thanks for the tip. That sounds easier than the way I was thinking. I will shoot buy the dollar store tomorrow, I saw those the other day. Thank you.
