  1. Well here in Port loring the fog is thick and the heavy clouds are low,I guess I will have to wait for Wednesday nite. vance
  2. I check mine once a week or more depending on how much I use them. Its really bad to let the water get to low.Make sure to used distilled water.I have a gallon that I bought and use it just for that purpose only. vance
  3. I tried to run the fish finder off the trolling motor battery but there was so much interference from the troller the the finder wouldn't work right if the motor was on and I tried a bunch of electric dodads but they didn't work. Now I run off the starting motor battery. vance
  4. Sorry Mr Vance but my first name is Vance.I used to work with a couple mr.Vances but they were from the Peterborough area.I see you are in elliot lake and for the summers I spend my time in Port Loring.Friends of mine are thinking of moving to elliot lake, would it be possible to get some info from you about the area if need be? 8. I am pretty sure that you can't get 30 amps out of the plug on the genny.I have yamaha inverter 3000 and the 23 amps I get from the main output will run the air-fridge-ONE other appliance on my trailer before it trips(34ft park model)My sister has a kipor3000 and it can't do as much as she is always tripping the breaker. What ever you do buy the QUIETESS one you can as after a couple of hours all you want to do is turn off the noise regardless. When my yamaha is running most people in the park don't even know that it is just purring away. that unit is expensive but I am glad shelled out for it as in 4 years only thing I have done is change the oil. You will need an adapter from the three prong lock plug on the gen to fit the three prong on your trailer they are usually different. vance
  9. I am north of Huntsville right now and the black flies are not done but not to obnoxious, its the no see ums, mosquitoes and deer flies that are the killers now.I had to wear my bug jacket and gloves to cut the grass this afternoon. vance
  10. I bought one for myself in April for use at my trailer at Port Loring. Most of the time I don't have cell service but the stick usually has one bar BUT the stick I bought,Sierra 306,has a spot to hook up an external antenna which amplifies the signal 2X and that is the only way that I can get a usable signal. Its not as fast as my DSL at home but most of the time it is pretty quick.I am with Telus which shares towers with bell. They give a 14 day free trial with a full refund policy if you don't like it or you can't get a signal where you are going to use it.I tried it out at the trailer when I bought it to make sure it would be okay. The oddest thing is the worse the weather-raining,cloudy-the better the signal and on those sunny cloudless days I sometimes can't get a signal until 7-8pm vance
  11. YES this the right way do do things and now that we know lets let this post go as a learning experience. vance
  12. I am not sure if these cover the area you want but you would probably know http://www.adventurefishingmaps.on.ca/sgb1.htm or possibly one of these http://www.fishingmapsplus.com/catalogue.htm vance
  13. You have to go to a NAPA auto parts store for sea foam,CTC doesn't carry it. vance
  14. Your RPMs a wide open throttle should be between 5300-5500 or you risk over heating your motor. To me you have too much pitch and I know there is a formula for figuring this out but I don't know it. vance
  15. I think this what you are looking for http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0006339516548a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=camping+shower&sort=all&Go.y=12&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=11 A little pricey just for hot water. vance
  16. Thanks for the answer guys I just didn't realize that they were this far north. You learn something new every day:) vance
  17. We went out from North Bay to the islands tonite for a little fun and on the first fish we caught was a lamprey sucking on a nice size eye.We didn't know these were in Nippissing so it was a bit of a surprise.Needless to say it didn't live long.On a better note we got 11 jumbo perch-5 eyes and an OOS bass. vance
  18. Sadly the fly-in company near Port Loring(Toronado's) closed up shop last fall. You might want to look at .Sudbury Aviation for your fly-in .They have both rustic and pretty modern accomodation. vance
  19. The only ingredient in the patch is vitamin B1. vance
  20. I have had them for the second year now, what I find is that one is not enough for this time of year and wearing two really helps.I have been out all weekend in shorts and have not been bit BUT they still get on you and swam you they just don't bite. The package says to put it on 2 hours before exposure but during the black fly season I always have one on as the 2 hour window does not seem to be long enough. vance
  21. Since the spawn was over a month, ago areas that usually have fish don't . From what I have been able to find out they are where they shouldn't be.If that sounds confusing it sort of is,a few guys have lucked into where they are but most are still searching. The ones that know are NOT telling where the fish are or what they are using.I have seen boats out trolling just before and after dusk but have no idea if they where catching or just feeding the bugs. Where is the cottage you are staying,I am on Pigeon at White Birches Camp maybe we can hook up while you are up here.I should have more info by Thursday. vance
  22. This is a little more than 3 hrs http://www.whitebirchescamp.com/ but the fishing is good and I will show you where the fish are(I am a seasonal camper there). Vance
  23. You might want to try Caribou for lake trout I have never been there but lots of people go there just for the lakers.Wilson also so has lake trout but not great numbers. You will need to read the regs carefully as you are right on the dividing line between zones 10 and 15-hwy522 .There are some differences in what is open and what is not.Down riggers would be useful as Wilson has 90-100feet of water along the south shore cliffs. PM me if you need more and I can find out from some of the locals as I am living at White Birches Camp for the Summer(across the lake from Loring). vance
  24. DONE sure looks like a trip of a lifetime. vance
