Sneak_e_Pete, You're on the right track and drop shotting is a great method for perch. Plastics will work but minnows is the perferred bait. Also, Erie is a huge body of water so don't be shy when looking for perch...look for the packs of boats as a starting point. From there you can mark fish and get busy. Here is a picture of what you're looking for.

You are correct Art. The HDS units with Lowrance's "Insight" is mainly US lakes. They do however include the Great Lakes though. It really doesn't matter which HDS model we purchase here in Canada you pretty much have to go with a Navionics chip to get the detail fisherman look for.

So I waited until April 1st for my coverage to kick only to be greeted with rain and hail. Dang! Then, I call my insurance company to discuss my motorcycle insurance and casually mention it was too bad I had to wait until April due to the great March weather. He says "Oh, next time just call us, we'll extend it no charge." WHAT??? Something for free?? I didn't see that coming!! I'm kicking my for not calling but I wasn't going to pay extra!!

I think it's fantastic a few people on this site have managed to buy all their home electronics, clothing, cell phones and fishing tackle without having to waste money on offshore junk.

Since I live so close to Niagara Falls NY., when I order anything from the states I have it shipped UPS - "Hold for Pickup". The shipping address I give them is the address of the UPS depot just over the border and I include my cell phone number in the address. UPS calls me when it arrives and I have 7 days to pick it up. No charge either. I can be there and back in 90 mins - unless I include another stop at Gander or Chillies!!

I think the $200 is only meant as a deterrent as it no way comes close to covering rescue dollars. The fine for not wearing a seatbelt is not equivilent to the cost of a life either. Just a guess though.

X2 The 870 Wingmaster and the 870 Express are essentially the same gun with the exception being the finish. The Wingmaster is a well finished piece that looks like a piece of furniture...beautiful. The Express is a matte finished(somewhat) gun. There used to be quite a price difference. Enough of a diference to invest it in alternate barrels choices if desired.

I also have never had a bad experience at Fishing World. Sure, they don't trip over themselves to help you when you walk in, but I like that. If I need something, I'll come find you. My son shortened a Compre for me last year and they were great about sending it back and getting me a replacement. No issues.

I'd also suggest buying the red and black plastic terminal covers. An accidental bump against an exposed post with vise grips can be dangerous. Don't ask...

It's the type of job that dictates if it's cheaper to bring guys in to help. If we get a now rare busy stretch, I can't bring in machinists and mold makers to help out. Regardless of how good they are, there is always an extended training period. They're working at 25% of their potential, mistakes are made and your "go to guys" are getting help up by them. The up side is sometimes you can find a gem but that doesnt solve the short term crisis. When you add all this up plus hiring costs and benefits, overtime is cheap...in the short term.
