  1. I am by no means any kind of an expert on anything... I know it's hard to believe, but it's true! That said, hasn't Nip stocks crashed in the past? Hasn't the lake rebounded in the past as well? So, let's have a look at what practices were in place... The first crash came not long after gill nets were used on the lake... gill nets were banned, the stocks came back up. Gill nets re-instated, stocks begin to deplete... and during both of these time frames, sport fisher types were plying the waters... You do the math! HH
  2. You had me at "Hi"! LOL That looks magnificent! Really really nice... thanks for posting it! HH
  3. I'd call it "good times"! HH
  4. HUH?! HH
  5. It's actually pretty simple... don't fish lower then 35 ft! I don't beleive that slow retrieve is gonna do anythng but prolong the inevitable... go fish for some bass until the Pickereyes are obtainable in non kill zone waters... This is no different than fishing below 30ft on Quinte in the fall, with the exception being the size of the fish. If catch and release is your goal, then don't fish kill zones. HH PS... come on Skeeter, you know that Lake Trout can burp! Pickereyes can't!
  6. I'm waiting on some pics of the BBQ and how he got the 50lbs on it... he smoked the pork in a mixture of Cherry wood and apple wood for 14 hours... needless to say it was a hit... we have about 3-4 pds left over... I'll post some pics once I get them. HH
  7. I was sitting on my front porch last night thinking... man, perfect night to out on the big lake... then saw this... Awesome report bud! Seet fish and fantastic pics... nice job! HH
  8. Isn't that where old people go when they retire Brian? LOL I'm sure we will both have fun this weekend! But I bet Sunday morning at my house will have few more bodies laying around then all of Collingwood! LMAO HH
  9. X2 Bob... positive thoughts being sent your way... HH
  10. Brian, you are more than welcome to join us... if you are serious, PM me and I'll get you directions etc... HH Edit... my band is playing two sets in my backyard on Saturday... here's a link to our web site www.roadgravyband.ca
  11. I don't blame you one bit Lew! Living on the Scarborough/Pickering border, I ALWAYS go to Durham to find what ever it is that I want... anything to avoid Toronto! HH
  12. I've tried to make it to the Oshawa store a couple of times... but my truck always seems to take the Brock Street exit in Pickering straight into the Tightlines parking lot... maybe one day I'll make it there! HH
  13. Hey Pikeslayer... I honestly don't know how he does it, I'll ask him on Saturday... Coleslaw and pulled pork on a bun for 70 people... should be fun! LOL I've seen FishnSled drool before, I know he's not exagerating! LOL HH
  14. My brother has a BGE... uses an electric BBQ starter on the charcoal... it heats up in 5 minutes... much faster then my gas grill can. Temp control on the BGE is done by controlling the amount of oxygen you allow into the egg... more oxygen, higher heat. You can buy a electron thermosta to control damper... it's thing of beauty. We are having a small gathering at our house on Saturday... my brother is doing 50lbs of pulled pork on his BGE and bringing it to my house on Saturday. No doubt in my mind, my next BBQ will be a BGE! HH
  15. Well, if the Mississippi rises that much, those Asian carp are definately going to get into the Great Lakes!!!! HH
  16. Incredible determination! AWESOME! HH
  17. If the lake allows you, you could probably go out a few hundred yards from the pier, anchor and catch some perch and Sheepies... also, great place for kids with on the beach... HH
  18. What was the name of that lure again? HH
  19. It looks like my friends are out, so please don't hold the dog for me... He's a fine lookin pup, someone's get be very happy... HH
  20. I agree with you that it does or inevitably will end on political talk, but if I recall correctly, there are Canadian names on the wall... HH
  21. Can't see the pic... I have some friends who are currently looking for a dog... they are huge dog people and have decided to get another after their dog passed a few years ago... there is always someone home and she works in an environment that is dog friendly, so she could take the dog to work with her... Let me know if you want more info... HH
  22. Hey BB, I don't think anyone is intending to belittle the ultimate sacrifice these fine people made. I think what folks are saying is best related by Mr. Fogerty in this song... HH
  23. Terry's comment is based on a long standing joke surrounding a CO and a woman in a boat. After years of being posted here, it has never been considered an "issue". I can't see how it could be thought of any other way at this point... I see the "PC Police" has reared their ugly head again! Op... my wife does the same thing... never touches a rod when we are in the boat... the only ticket she could qualify for would be ballast without a license. HH
  24. The best place to get properly atired is the "Double V" (Value Village). Find one in an affulent area of town and you will find the expensive one's for cheap! HH
