  1. Is it not kinda interesting that our board members here who have local knowledge and experience on Nip are the one's who are giving the shortest and most cryptic responses in this thread? Gee, I wonder why!? HH
  2. Thanks for this Cliff and yes, I do know what to do now... I'm gonna grab onto you on the way down through the ice... LOL HH
  3. This flag waving is really kinda ironic, don't ya think? We have two groups discussing these fish, with one group suggesting that their choice of fishing these fish, from a bank is nobler than the one's out on the lake, dragging lures... Fact is, if you bank guys really want to save the fish or make this area a "world class destination" then you would not fish during the species spawning run. Pretty simple really. They close the season for other species, yet they leave it open for plundering when it comes to steel... anyone else see the disconnect here? HH
  4. I've heard the drive from the GTA to Quinte described as being up hill both directions! Randy, some of us have been talking to Gerritt about an ice GTG based around his place in Brighton. Perhaps we could coordinate a GTG based around your availability... just make sure that you drill atleast 100 yds away from the rest of the group... I've read your reports detailing some of your past "difficulties" and I for one, would rather be part of the audience, then a particapant! LOL HH
  5. Bah ha!!!!!You aint kidding! HH
  6. Let's just say we have some windows that need some windex on the inside! LOL She just wandered off into the ravine behind my house... HH
  7. I plan on having the dog on a leash... I figure the second she see's the dog, she'll just jump the fence the way she came in and take off into the ravine. HH
  8. I'm waiting until my kids come home from school... I want them to see it. Shortly there after, I will be introducing her to my 80lb lab named Lucky... I think she may leave on her own... Thanks for the concern though... HH
  9. It is kinda neat when you figure I live in the country's largest city, the 401 is two minutes away and I can hear a city bus going by every 15 minutes! BTW - she doesn't like celery! I walked up to her, showed her the celery and she just snorted and wagged her head at me. I know you guys who are lucky enought to make a living and live outside of T.O are probably shaking your heads at me, but it's pretty rare for a deer to be walking around in your back yard in the city. FnS... what should I feed her next, she can self marinade for us! I wonder if she likes Franks Hot Sauce! LOL HH
  10. ^^^^^^ anymore info one this side of the coin or are they all laughing at us? HH
  11. Bacon wrapped tenderloins on the BBQ.... drool.... Here deerie deerie... uncle Joe has a nice apple for yah! LOL HH
  12. Turns out that I had to cut the apple as it was too big to fit in it's mouth! So as I am cutting the apple, the silly thing walks over to me, I feed it a 1/4 apple and comence to petting the silly thing! i wish mykids were home to see this! HH
  13. Thanks Randy... Well, that's a kick in the nuts with a frozen muckaluk isn't it! HH
  14. SO far, I have tried to feed it a carrot, didn't seem interested, nor the apple... but it just did take some romain lettuce out of my hand! It's now waiting at the bottom of my stairs for more food! HH
  15. I work from my home office in Scarborough. I was starting to think what to have for lunch when my dog started to growl and huff and puff... I turn around and look in my backyard and see this! So, I am taking reservations from the cross bow/bow hunters who would like to stake out my back deck... I'll take pepperettes as payment! HH
  16. Thanks Randy... gotta admit, I'm not too crazy about that outcome! HH
  17. Ok... can anyone please clarify that they dropped the slot or not? thanks, HH
  18. From 5 per day down to 2 for Lake O steelies... to me, that means there's gonna be a lot more floaters in the blue zone, then there ever were! Let's face it, a good percentage of fish caught in that area, simply don't survive being caught. So now, folks will "cull" their catch and there will be chrome floating everywhere. Just so the river folks can beat them with a stick, gut them for their eggs and leave on the bank. Personally, I don't really care about the reduced number, it won't effect me personally, but I bet that we won't see much of a change in returning steel as a result of these changes. HH
  19. SO we are down to two possesion on Nip... no slot. Can anyone who is closer to this situation comment on any changes to the native netting quotas? Thanks, HH
  20. Well, big people tend to "make" big people, so I guess it may be true... HH
  21. The standard rules apply so I'll say it... NO PICS NO GTG! HH
  22. Mid 90's fishing Quinte in December. At that time, there was almost no one fishing that time of year and very few if any other planer boards being used. It was a Saturday, the wind was howling out of the north west and we never left Picton Bay due to 3-5 footers right in front of the cement plant. Out before first light, dropped our lines as soon as we passed the pump house and didn't make it 100yds and we had a double header of 13's. Four of us in the boat, we boated over 35 Pickereyes with the largest being 16lbs... I also got my PB that day at 14.75lbs. No other boats out that day and the other two guys who made the drive from London still talk about that day... actually, they begged us to stop fishng as their arms were tired from reeling in those big fat socks! I doubt we will ever see another day like that on Quinte! HH
  23. The warden got me one for Xmas last year... the only place I would actually wear it, would be ice fishing, but I was told in no uncertain terms, that it is NOT TO BE USED for ice fishing as it's too expensive to have perch gut/puke stains. To be honest, I don't even know where she hid it from me! HH
  24. That's a "Perchasaurus"!!! Congrats... you both must be very proud! HH
  25. I think even atheists believe in god on Friday or Saturday nights! Not so sure about Big Foot though... I don't hear people yelling "Oh Big Foot" on those nights! HH
