^So you would have preferred that he had a concusion, a broken neck or fractured skull? Matt, I find your posts highly entertaining and I have enouraged you in the past to continue as well; I find it funny, but I think you may want to re-think the above post. I agree that the hit is not suspension worthy, but it could have gone very badly and I would think that everyone would be pleased that he is not hurt... HH

Does anyone else notice that Reimer seems to be the last guy in the rink able to track rebounds? He always seems to be looking around trying to find the puck and many times, he's a day late and a dollar short. We need Bernie back asap if there is going to be any hope of a playoff spot. It wouldn't hurt if Dion got this head back in the game as well! HH

Move away from this thread Bernie! Nothing to see here! LOL HH -
It was a few years ago, but yes, I've been there... HH

why are there so many part time jobs in Ontario
Headhunter replied to Oggie's topic in General Discussion
Well, as the owner of an employment agency, I could probabaly answer some of the questons being raised here... Employees are paid out of either operating or capital budgets. A full time employee is a recurring cost, who's costs are budgeted within the company's operating budget, unless and until that budget is amended, those costs are expected. Temp workers fall into a separate budget that is typically based on specific need, that is not expected to be long term. Sure, in many cases it does end up being long term, but that is typically not the intention initially. A company can expect a full time perm employee's "benefit package" to cost them in the neighbourhood of 10k annually. I many cases, much more. Temps typically don't have those costs associated with their positions. Letting go of perm full time employees is expensive, given the courts willinigness to pay out large sums with or without cause... Temp employees allows companies to ramp up production quickly, should busness require it, without the associated "costs" involved in a full time perm employee. Temp workers are also "the cost of doing business" and much of those costs become right offs for the employer. I know I'm just craping the surface of this topic, if you have any questions, let me know! HH -
This topic has been addressed in earlier threads. I would encourage anyone who is interested in getting more info on this topic, do a search in General Discussion. Just type in Nipissing while you are in General Discussion in the search field. There are a ton of threads that will result, my tip would be to seek out the threads that have multiple pages and you will find the info you seek. I would start on page six of the search results and then work further back. NFN will not take steps to eliminate cormorants will be just one tid bit of info you will find. Happy searchin! HH

Shag, if you type in "Nipissing" in the search bar at the top of the page, you will find a number of past threads on this topic. We even had a member of NFN (Nipissing First Nations) who is a member here, chime in with some inside/different perspective information. I would encourage you to have a look if for no other reason, than to gain more info/knowldge. HH

Ok, now that was funny! HH

Boy, that looks like a lot of fun... I'd join them right away if I could only find my phone! Reminds me of a trip to the ball game with the family last year... I look around the stadium so many folks have their head burried in their phone, they could have saved time and money by just sitting at home and watching the game on TV... HH

Come on guys, everyone know it's a "Pickereye"! HH
-
Well, IMHO, it's not the anglers or their limits that are causing "challenges" with the fishery. HH
-
Funny, but I haven't seen a fish above the slot in years on that lake... oh, there are "plenty" of fish below the slot and the occasional fish just into the slot, but from my experience, nothing but small fish. Once again, the anglers it appears will take the brunt to accommodate others. I would say that in my last 4 or 5 trips up, I have not taken home any fish as my two fish limit of 14inch fish simply isn't enough for a feed of one, much less a family of four. But there are lots of fish still in Nip! HH

Something for the muskie guys... and gals

That thing seems like an ideal product to take down south on a beach vacation. I know I could have and would have used one when I was in Cuba a couple of weeks ago! I could see me catching little reef fish with that all day long... sure would beat the boredom of just sitting on the beach watching the world go by... HH -
Sorry for your loss Lew. I can only imagine the pain my family will go through when our lab gets to that point. Remember your morning walks and smile knowing that you gave Marvin everything a dog could want in life. HH

They'd probably net more money if they focused more on the locals and some of their "sense of entitlement" then "tourists" only there for a week. HH
-
That was our encore! Many thanks again Bernie for the invite and sharing your little piece of heaven. I hope next year, we don't have to watch "Ray" again!!! LOL It may take until May to get the smelt stink out of the cottage! LOL (Not a fan of smelts here!!!) I still say that Brian ruined our pike bait buy cooking those things up! HH

Ice fishermen rescue 3 from car through ice
Headhunter replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
Frenchman's Bay is like a holding pool for runoff from both Durham and Scarborough. That run off as we all know has a very high salt content this time of year. Frenchman's Bay is pretty shallow and only at the mouth, which is fairly narrow is it exposed to the open lake. I would expect that in some places, there may well be plenty of ice to drive on, yet in others, well obviously not. Hopefully this incident helps to keep more people off the ice or at least those who don't know better... HH -

RIP Paco - For the guitarists out there NON FISHING!
Headhunter posted a topic in General Discussion
Unfortunately we lost one of the world's greatest guitar players, Paco de Lucia passed away at his home in Mexico the other day. I was fortunate enough to seen him here in Toronto a few years ago... man could that guy play. If you are a fan of flaminco guitar, you will know who he was. the above link is my personal favorite... check it out. He is playing with Al Dimeola. RIP Paco HH -
Just had a quick look at the radar, seems the front has pretty much broken up at this point. Is the trouble on the 400 the result of blowing snow or actual snow fall? HH
-
Pretty clear here in the East End Lew... the occasional snow flurry and that danged wind, but not too much too worry about. HH

Perch fishing, I usually drill 10-20 holes per spot. It seems that I can do that all day and still have fuel left in the tank. Drill away! HH

almost as good as fresh caught, fried walleye.

You're right Chad, the bun does look a little over-done... HH -
To help keep the leadcore down in higher current areas, you could try putting a snap on weight, 1 oz etc on your line where your leader and core are joined. As far as baits are concerned, small Hot n Tot in Jimmie Hendrix, would be my bait of choice in the spring. Experiment with different size snap weights to determin which works best, based on current conditions. HH
