  1. Here's a pic from a couple of years ago, basically doing the same thing you did... in an effort to get the boat in the water! Four hours of hard work, we finally got on the water just before noon! And after all that effort, we only caught on Pickereye! HH
  2. I'm suprised that no one has mentioned this yet... GET A WHITE BUCKET!!!! Seriously, they will hold your catch, you can mount PVC pipe on the outside of the bucket and they will act as rod holders... don't forget your ice scoop... A great big thermos for your favorite hot beverage (don't cheap out on a thermos, buy 100% stainless steel and it will last forever. Here's a tip re the thermos... Fill the thermos with boiling water and let it stand in the thermos for 10 minutes, before you put your hot beverage of choice in... your bevey will stay hot for a lot longer. If your fishing in a place where you can remove your float suit and be warm, be sure to turn your float suit inside out to dry out all of the condensation, before you go back outside. Same goes for your boot insoles. HH
  3. Sorry for your troubles BB, and especially for your shoulder wows... may I suggest that you hold your catch up with your right hand in the future and save that Left shoulder for other things.... (going by the pic in your avatar!)LOL HH
  4. These very large fish are typically Lake O fish. Couple that with their age and they are not very good table fare, especially when you consider that where you fish, they taste great!!! I have caught and eaten resident BOQ fish (1-3 pders) and frankly, they don't taste as good as say, a Kawartha fish... kinda muddy tasting. Add to the equation that these fish are breeding stock, it should be a catch, take a pic fishery. HH
  5. Awesome report!!! Pretty rare to find conditions like that, this time of year and cudos to all of you for taking advantage... Thanks for the report! HH
  6. Nice dedication there boys! I have experienced the boat freezing to the trailor... we made the drive to Picton and backed the boat into the power wash bay... blasted the bottom of the boat with about $5.00 worth of hot water, dashed back to the launch and viola, we were fishing! We usually lower the flags on our Off shore boards as the weight of the ice won't let them track well. Glad you caught some fish and thanks for the trip down memory lane! HH
  7. Well BB, I know we have some of our own here! Probably not 22 mill though! Should we kick them out, who the heck are we going to get to pick all our fruit and veggies? Who we gonna get to clean up after us? Who we gonna get to drive us around? It's easy to say get rid of them, but obviously they have some value or there wouldn't be that many! Sure as H E double hockey sticks aint gonna be folks like you and me! HH
  8. That seems a little harsh, don't yah think? If we as a group, got our underware in knots with every single thing we found offensive, well this would not be a very nice place to visit. Come to think of it, where did you get that pic of my brother, in your avatar? HH
  9. Nice job guys! I ran a "Power Dive" when we were at the GTG, but no action for us. Nice to see yah Steve, sure do wish you still stayed active here! Regards... HH
  10. It's pretty obvious that the orange cat in the vid is a console fan and that poor black and white cat is a tiller fan... That, or they are fighting over a carrot! HH
  11. Thank God he didn't get the pic of Lloyd in his speedo! HH BTW - no pics, no babes without tops... it's a rule yah know!
  12. I called building management and they have agreed to pull those chairs out of storage, so we can reserve our spots for the parade! I gotta admitt though, they are getting pretty tired of take'en them out and puttin' them back! HH
  13. I had back surgury for a herniated disk in the mid 90's. Microdiscectomy... small incision, in with a laser, clean up loose parts and re-seal the bad disc...DAY SURGURY been great ever since... Funny how no one until Jimmer's post mentioned ice... Most folks with bad backs have stressed out muscles, not structural problems (note I did say most) Muscles get over stressed and the body sends blood to heal, but when you send blood to muscles, they get inflamed and they squeeze nerves + PAIN... ice will take the blood away, so you should be doing the frozen pea thing 3-4 times a day, for 1/2 hour or so... My doctor was Dr. Michael Ford and if you can get in to see him, I highly recommend him... he know's his stuff http://orthopaedics.utoronto.ca/faculty/list/ford.htm Ranked top in his field in Canada. HH
  14. Sony outsourced the manufacture of their tv's to Indonesia about 10 years agao. In doing so, they also outsource the manufacture of the components of their tvs... so who ever said earlier in the thread that the only thing left on a Sony TV that is Sony, is the name plate got it partially right... I'm sure they outsourced the making of the plastic plate as well. All this stuff is very personal and the only way to determin what's right for you is to go out there and look at TVs... but that can be problematic as you have to ensure that the tvs are all set up the same way and that can also be a challenge. I have a 46inch Panasonic Viera plasma and to my eye, plasma looks much more organic than LCD... very much like, to me anyway, the difference in sound between a very good vynal audio system and CD's. To my ear, vynal sounds warm and real, CD (digital) sound s harsh and brittle. BTW - my plasma sits right beside 8ft patio windows and we have NO problem with light... they fixed that stuff years ago! HH
  15. Someone's gonna have to buy a case of Fish Crisp! HH
  16. Come on guys... what happens on Nipissing, stays on Nipissing! Why do you think that those 3 or 4 weekends per year are SO important to those of us fortunate enough to be there. Well, that and Bernie's cooking! And don't forget the Geisler Island rendition of Brown Eyed Girl! HH
  17. Go to google type in "French military victories" hit "I feel lucky" You will get a google response that says... "Do you mean French military defeats"! HH
  18. Funny enough, I had a cat that loved tinsel... would suck it off the tree like pasta... and yes, I would find it in the litter box... heck, I even hung it off the tree one year... pricess looks on visitors faces as they admired our tree, until they came to the cat's contribution! LMAO HH
  19. Well, there's yer grain of salt! HH
  20. When I met my wife, manny moons ago, she had a blonde Lab/Pointer/everything else mix dog named Ben. Funny dog, I used to fish for him in the school yard. Tied one of those nylon bones to my musky rod and cast away in the yard. The dog would grab the bone and fight me all the way in... heck, he'd even jump a few times!LOL I recall coming home one day to find the kitchen floor covered in apple cores... yess, Ben loved apples and had taken it upon himslef to eat a ten pound bag of Macs... I found the dog standing at the patio doors, back legs crossed just waiting for someone to come home and let him out. The look on his face when I let him out was priceless! HH
  21. Well BB, after just celebrating the 20th anniversary of my 29th birthday, I just don't feel so young any more... but with that said, I'll take it anyway! HH
  22. Well BB, based on what I read and the musings of a co-worker, we're having dinner at 6:30am!!!! I'm all for being different, just ask anyone who has met me, but I don't think I'm working the graveyard shift, so that would mean breakfast to me! And that would mean you're going to have to get up really early to have it on the plate on time! LOL HH Edit*** and who you calling "young"!
  23. Very nice!!!!! HH
  24. Ok... Mom raised a tall boy, not a bright one... what the heck does that mean!? HH
