The launch at Hay Bay is reasonably flat... but some what of a distance to Adolphus... but if you are heading to Quinte in November ish, that area can be productive... but again, it's one of the early freeze up points. HH

Why do Fishing shows promote this ?
Headhunter replied to AverageJoeFishing's topic in General Discussion
And here I have been thinking this whole time that it was a ruse by tackle companies to get me to buy more hooks/baits! Shows you how bright I am!!! HH -
Ductless Air Conditioning, definately not fishing
Headhunter replied to lookinforwalleye's topic in General Discussion
I had a ductless A/C system installed in my old home, about 7 years ago. If I recall correctly, total price was in the $2,500.00 range. My house was also quite small, about 800 sq ft. The unit did a reasonable job of cooling the house, did a good job of cooling the upstairs, where the bedrooms were. I don't know if you're looking at that price based on it also acting as a heat pump as mine did not have that ability. If air con is all you really need, I can't see why that price is so high! HH -
Well, if it really needs to be flat, you may have some problems... There is a launch in Adolphus Town, but this time of year, with the water being so shallow, it's probably not gonna meet your needs... There is a launch in Bath, right near the power plant, but it is steep and can get quite harry should the wind blow up from any direction but north. You can launch at the ferry, but later in the year, it tends to freeze up... There is Prinyer's cove on the south shore of Adolphus Reach, but it is not maintained and will not have a dock... McFarlands conservation area, on the south shore, opposite the cement plant, but again, no dock and an early freeze up spot. Don't know if that helped, but what the heck! HH

I was out a lunch time today an I heard an earth shattering scream come from City hall... Turned out to be a group of piggy's who have just now seen the bottom of the trough for the first time in 8 years! HH

Taken from the National Post! Enjoy!!! Kelly McParland: Latte futures plummet as Toronto contemplates Ford mayoralty Read more: http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2010/10/26/kelly-mcparland-latte-futures-plummet-as-toronto-contemplates-ford-mayoralty/#ixzz13U7vFLPl Across Toronto this morning bleary-eyed residents grabbed their two-wheelers and cycled to Starbucks, ordered up a stiff frappuccino — what the hell, make it 2% milk, I’ll need it — and surveyed the damage. It couldn’t be true. Rob Ford, Mr. Double-Double, a guy who never met a cruller he didn’t like, had pulled it off. The man got himself elected mayor. All those angry suburbanites, the ones who were supposed to complain a lot but skip the actual process of voting, had turned up en masse and put the guy in office. For Toronto’s urban sophisticates, it was a wipe-out. Total repudiation. Worse than the time they ran out of well-oaked chardonnay at Vintages. What are they supposed to do now, move to Calgary? Buy a leaf blower, for Chrissake? Any day now they’ll be erecting barriers at Pusateri’s, checking IDs. No one gets in without a credit card from Home Depot. Wearily they munched their almond biscottis and totted up the devastation. Someone would have to contact the holistic, non-profit communal bike-sharing project and warn them the grand opening, scheduled for January, would be delayed. Expansion of the rooftop lawn at City Hall would have to be put on ice, construction of the solar-powered arboretum delayed, shipments of biodegradable, non-toxic, soy-based weed control returned to the dealer. Oh, just keep the bloody deposit. Might as well just buy some mums at Costco and stick them in the lobby, like they do in Mississauga where that … woman… was re-elected once again. How old is she now, 300? She’ll be more insufferable than ever, demanding we show up at some shopping mall and help co-ordinate bus routes. Hazel dear, we don’t want your buses co-ordinating with ours, we want your people to stay home on weekends. All across the city the scene at Starbucks was being repeated. The man in charge of closing the main access highways every weekend for kite-flying festivals and g0-cart races was checking the want ads for job openings. Classes were cancelled at the new Streetcar Drivers’ Training Centre, where they’d been practising how to arrive at stops in bunches of three or four at a time, twenty minutes behind schedule, without bumping into one another. There were nothing but sad faces at the Toronto Works yard, where they’d been busy digging up roads for seven years — the same ones, over and over — and now face the prospect of putting them all back together so people can actually drive on them. David Miller’s SUV driver, who knew to keep the motor running while the mayor made his annual Earth Day speech, was devastated. So were the taxi drivers outside TTC headquarters, who stand to lose all that business from commissioners taking cabs across town to discuss improving the transit system. Up in the planning department, where they’d been figuring out when to break the news of yet another fare hike so they could build themselves a new headquarters, gloom was everywhere. What’s the point of working for the public transit system if you can’t borrow money to build yourself a new office, conveniently near the highway and with plenty of free parking? Speaking of devastation, what about plans for the new four-story hockey rink down near the waterfront, the one the old council wanted to build even though it would cost $88 million and they only had $34 million to pay for it? Don’t even ask. You think Rob Ford’s going to agree to borrow an extra $54 million for a rink where the Zambonis have to travel by elevator, just because it would be prettier than the alternative? Give up sweetheart. You ever see Rob Ford? You think he plays hockey? Nope, it was just an ugly day all-round in poor old Toronto. The wailing was so loud it woke the ticket-takers on the Bloor subway line. Food inspectors, accustomed to easy overtime from weekends spent harrassing hot dog vendors, contemplated the loss of income. Things were so bad at Queers Against Israeli Apartheid they couldn’t even summon the courage to blame the Jews. Oh, and that reminds me … You know that application form for next year’s grant money? Might as well recycle it now dear, while they’re still collecting the blue boxes. National Post HH

Bruce, I'd be happy to buy you a coffee! Just not a Starbucks! For two reasons; 1. There is now way in h e double hockey sticks I'm gonna pay that much for some dirty water 2. I'm a Tims Man!(Iszumi can't be wrong all the time!) Chris, I'd be happy to buy you what ever beverage you desire! (See Bruce, that's how you get a mod on your side! LMAO HH -
Do 4 stroke motors drain water completely
Headhunter replied to thefireman's topic in General Discussion
As others have said, should be no problem. As Wayne alluded to, running your engine in extreme cold (below freezing) requires that you really keep an eye the discharge... make sure your engine is "peeing" Runnin my buddies 225 Opti in December/January on Quinte, many times after launching, we found that it was not discharging water... the impellor was frozen. We used his kicker to get out to the fish and periodically would try the big motor to see if it had cleared... and it would. Sometimes rether quickly, some time after a few hours of trolling. HH -

Well, I came here for the women! Ontario Female Network was what I thought I saw... then I saw Joey in a cooler and thought, hmmmm, they know how to treat women here! I think I'll stay! I found this site via a link that Superdad had posted on the Quinte Forum... I was a member there for about a year, but that site is not a busy as this one and after lurking for a few weeks, I decided that I liked the tone of the board, I liked the way it was virtually self managed and I liked the way the members kidded each other. I will admit, as a newbie, I was a little put off by my initial impression that there is a "clique" here, but it's not really a clique, it's just folks who have met each other, actually, folks who have built relationships by putting themselves out there. I found that if you are willing to put yourself out there, give to the board, this board will pay you back in spades! I have met many friends here, some of whom I have been fortunate enough to now call close friends... I have been invited into people’s homes, boats and lives and I hold those very dear to my heart! Ok... enough sentimentality, truth is, I stayed hoping to some day meet CCMT! LMAO HH -
Neighbor kid just shot a bb through my living room window!
Headhunter replied to splashhopper's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely Jimmer! I agree 100%... I feel that the world has gone from being mostly black and white, to a world where grey is the expected norm. There is no one answer to all problems, life would be way to simple if it were. One can find exceptions to every rule. HH -
Neighbor kid just shot a bb through my living room window!
Headhunter replied to splashhopper's topic in General Discussion
Well Jimmer, I'd say that times have certainly changed, a lot, since I was a kid. Back in my day (crap I sound old) if a teacher told my parents that I was bad, for what ever reason, my parents immediately BELIEVED THE TEACHER!!! I can tell you that today, should a student mess up and the parents get called, the parents immediately take the position that their child could not have done that or it's the school/teachers' fault. All sense of accountability for actions are gone... which brings me to your other point about beating a child... well I, as mentioned earlier in this thread, had parents who believed in corporal punishment. To my mind, it was a highly effective tool. I second guessed all my moves, based on the extent of the beating I would get, should I get caught. It taught me two main things: -think twice before you do something wrong and to follow that gut reaction I would get just thinking about messing up! -DON"T GET CAUGHT!!!!!!!!!!! Probably the lesson I learned best... my brother, well he never really got that message! LOL HH -

Well Kwan, I can tell you in no un-certain terms, that when I was a kid and had screwed up bad, I was hoping that God would rescue me from my Dad and his slightly worn out fan belt he yielded with never before seen accuracy! HH -
Well I sure wouldn't mind seeing someone "label" Avery! HH

Will, I would probably just blame Cliff, but that's my pat answer for most things these days! HH

Thanks for the report guys! Hopefully Lloyd catching those guys on his boat will deter them from future pillaging. Maybe Lloyd should re-name his business U and Me Goat herders!LMAO HH

As a long time Leaf fan, this current version of the Leafs has me pretty confused... I have become so accustomed to seeing them barely scratch the surface of mediocrity, that I am just not sure how to react to this young season!!! My standard defense mechanisms have been pushed aside, however, I have been mislead far too many times in the past to allow my optimism to surface. To those who are not Leaf fans, please allow us these fleeting moments of joy... I think we collectively have earned it! HH

I'll be playing with my band in hopes of having three 45 minutes sets ready to go early in the new year... hoping to play to drunken fools once a month! HH

Come on guys, it wasn't a salmon he snagged, it was a porpoise! It simply in haled the beer tab through it's blow hole! Heck, most of the OFNER's I've met would dive in the water for a beer tab, in hopes of finding the beer! On the up side, no marshmellows were harmed in the making of that video. (Hee hee... I said blow hole!) HH
