  2. Here's another one from a different trip... nice warm December day on the Bay! Check out the muggs on these guys!!! LMAO HH
  3. Well, after lookin at Terry's post about old photos, I thought I'd post up a pic from the not so recent past... kinda to get folks in the mood for some ice and kinda because after all these years here at OFC, I have finally learned how to post pics! LOL Here's one from Quinte a few years ago to get things started... Feel free to contribute! HH
  4. My wife has been sick for two weeks, my daughter picked it up on the weekend and I awoke this morning with a sore throat and runny nose... Oh joy, oh bliss! The best cure I can think of, although not at all attractive, is to drill a few holes, slaughter some perch and have all that nastyness, pour outta me in the cold... that and of course a few Ceasers! HH
  5. We can close this thread as I just got off the phone with my friend and he has sourced one on his own... thanks to everyone who posted! HH
  6. I'll connect with my friend ans see if he can find his way to the Hammer to work something out. thanks, HH
  7. Lookin for some help here if you can. I have a buddy who intends on buying a 4 inch ice auger. He has an 8inch for fishing, but wants a 4 inch to use with his finder and camera and is hoping a four inch would be an easier drill through thick ice... Anyone know where they came be gotten? Have tried most of the local shops and searched high and low on the web, nothing to be found. Any help would be greatly appreciated! HH
  8. Ok, here's one I'm pretty sure that many have not heard for quite a number of years... Canada's first "punk" band and a band that heavily influenced many that came after... Ladies and gentlemen... I give you The Demics! HH
  9. My first job, working in Toronto, was at the main store of Sam the Record Man... you are correct to some degree in that Sam's older brother Sid, did have interests in properties on Yonge Street. Actually he owned many of the buildings on Yonge, between Dundas and Gerrard street. Including I beleive, the old A&A records building. Sam made most of his money distributing records to his franchised stores across the country... not much if any at the flagship store. Actually, the flagship store was intended to be a tax right off for his distribution company, Roblans. Roblans is/was located on Church street, just north of Dundas. As a tax shelter, he would sell his records to his stores at the suggested retail price, then sell them at the retail level, to the customers at a lower price. The stores showed a loss, the distributor, a profit. The lion's share of profit at the retail level was garnered from what were called "catalogue" releases, stuff that was not a "new release". These items were almost always sold at full price. Funny, go for a walk up Yonge street today and most of the old building has been torn down, making way for the new Ryerson building. HH ... oh and here's a nice Canadian boy rockin his brains out!
  10. Or... Robert's your father's brother! HH
  11. Sorry for the delay in reporting this... I was in the Ajax Costco on Sunday and they have this http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=10329725&search=Ice%20Auger&topnav=&Mo=0&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search&lang=en-CA&Nr=P_CatalogName:BCCA&N=0&whse=BCCA&Dx=mode%20matchallpartial&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BCCA&Ne=4000000&D=Ice%20Auger&Ntt=Ice%20Auger&No=0&Nty=1&Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial in stock, actually they had 6 in stock on Sunday. The price was $289.00, which I thought was a good deal. Anyway, just thought I'd pass this along for those on the market for a new auger. HH
  12. Have a look at this! http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=WSO It has been going on since Sunday... pretty much explains it quite clearly. HH
  13. Well Doc, I can tell that both cars on the northern road will get through no problem, however, when the volume of traffic and the collective intelligence of a garden slug hit the roads down here, well common sense become a sale item at Walmart! Yah also gotta remember that last year, we had no snow and people's memories are pretty short, when life gets in the way of their plans. HH
  14. Here's a pic from a couple of years ago, basically doing the same thing you did... in an effort to get the boat in the water! Four hours of hard work, we finally got on the water just before noon! And after all that effort, we only caught on Pickereye! HH
  15. I'm suprised that no one has mentioned this yet... GET A WHITE BUCKET!!!! Seriously, they will hold your catch, you can mount PVC pipe on the outside of the bucket and they will act as rod holders... don't forget your ice scoop... A great big thermos for your favorite hot beverage (don't cheap out on a thermos, buy 100% stainless steel and it will last forever. Here's a tip re the thermos... Fill the thermos with boiling water and let it stand in the thermos for 10 minutes, before you put your hot beverage of choice in... your bevey will stay hot for a lot longer. If your fishing in a place where you can remove your float suit and be warm, be sure to turn your float suit inside out to dry out all of the condensation, before you go back outside. Same goes for your boot insoles. HH
  16. Sorry for your troubles BB, and especially for your shoulder wows... may I suggest that you hold your catch up with your right hand in the future and save that Left shoulder for other things.... (going by the pic in your avatar!)LOL HH
  17. These very large fish are typically Lake O fish. Couple that with their age and they are not very good table fare, especially when you consider that where you fish, they taste great!!! I have caught and eaten resident BOQ fish (1-3 pders) and frankly, they don't taste as good as say, a Kawartha fish... kinda muddy tasting. Add to the equation that these fish are breeding stock, it should be a catch, take a pic fishery. HH
  18. Awesome report!!! Pretty rare to find conditions like that, this time of year and cudos to all of you for taking advantage... Thanks for the report! HH
  19. Nice dedication there boys! I have experienced the boat freezing to the trailor... we made the drive to Picton and backed the boat into the power wash bay... blasted the bottom of the boat with about $5.00 worth of hot water, dashed back to the launch and viola, we were fishing! We usually lower the flags on our Off shore boards as the weight of the ice won't let them track well. Glad you caught some fish and thanks for the trip down memory lane! HH
  20. Well BB, I know we have some of our own here! Probably not 22 mill though! Should we kick them out, who the heck are we going to get to pick all our fruit and veggies? Who we gonna get to clean up after us? Who we gonna get to drive us around? It's easy to say get rid of them, but obviously they have some value or there wouldn't be that many! Sure as H E double hockey sticks aint gonna be folks like you and me! HH
  21. That seems a little harsh, don't yah think? If we as a group, got our underware in knots with every single thing we found offensive, well this would not be a very nice place to visit. Come to think of it, where did you get that pic of my brother, in your avatar? HH
  22. Nice job guys! I ran a "Power Dive" when we were at the GTG, but no action for us. Nice to see yah Steve, sure do wish you still stayed active here! Regards... HH
  23. It's pretty obvious that the orange cat in the vid is a console fan and that poor black and white cat is a tiller fan... That, or they are fighting over a carrot! HH
