Nice! with a frozen boot!

On Monday I had to drive from Hamilton to an important interview in Woodbridge at 9:30 A.M knowing that I then had to get back home to pack a lunch and be at work for my 2 P.M shift. Interview went great and it was for a traveling company rep postion that is right up my alley, still waiting though to meet with the head hauncho for a second bout of questions (fingers crossed) So after that since I'm only blocks away from BPS I figure it's a perfect opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone. I go right to the fishing dept of course, find the Mepps Brown Trout Dressed spinners that cannot be found in the Hammer and grab 6 of them with the intention of giving half of them away. Price on the rack was $6.29, an increase from 5 something last year. Then I turn around and find them alongside the next aisle's endcap at $5.99, catch a BPS staff member and tell him the situation. He says, old price, or it's wrong, maybe a differet size the price is 6.29. I say no I'm paying 5.99, it's only 30 cents but I don't care. Have to find a manager. Manager Todd says OK, pay 5.99, tell cash I said so. (Ya right, that will be an experience as in about 2 minutes he'll prob be on a break and then another round of proving the price will start) Thank you Todd but the guy on the floor could have handled it quicker and said that yes you should pay the lower price and not insist as he did that the pice is $6.29 and that's it! Go over to another aisle and pick up a bunch of B.B swivels and then over to clothing and grab a deal on a couple of nice shirts. Realize I don't have my BPS point card so it's over to the service desk. Waited, waited, waited and waited. 2 are working but one is busy dealing with another staff member and the other is screwing around with the 'puter. Finally he gets up but not to serve me or the crowd lining up behind but to take off to do a different task or to go on break??? I say Screw it and leave my basket of about 70 bucks worth of merchandise on the floor. Made it to home and then to Ancaster on time for work. It's a difficult shift. All of the managers are wound up as tight as a pregnant bride dressed in white on her wedding day 'cause the VP and a bunch of other hotshots are going to show up to walk our store later this week. Myself and another associate are to spend the evening helping out customers and clean up some out dated products, change displays, clean up that sort of stuff. Buddy is emptying out a large display and all product in it was marked down from 200 and 159 to $99...according to the label. 'Puter disagrees and says the one and only one left of $199 model is no longer $99 but reg. price....sounds like my BPS encounter in the morning doesn't it? I confirm this with the other products and the same with price. Not only that but the model they want is a taped up box and probably a returned item. Who knows if all the parts to this retractable screen are there? I begin to get frustrated, not with the customer but the dumb system and the fact that not one of us working there caught the price change and I then remember the morning's trial with the Mepps and cover up my emotions. We open the box and do a parts list checkoff, all seems to be OK. Next step is to tape it back up and take the customer to the cash to get the front end manager, who I then had to find for a price markdown to $99. Customer leaves happy (at least till he tries to assemble this thing and gets frustrated) and I feel that I have in my own mind at least put BPS in their place and went a few steps further with Customer Service. Moral: You better not try to rush into BPS, or actually any store as a fact and expect to get out of there in a hurry when time is short. Plus I must remember my own experience with that morning's incident of poor service and to do my best to make the public satisfied. Not saying I'm better or where I currently work is the perfect service experience one may have, I'm only recounting what some others here have stated about their experience at BPS. Let's all have a beer and go fishing!

Buddy at work picked up an old F.G trihull and has restored it including removing all flooring and foam. He then had an insulation company come right to his home and spray it for 300 bucks. He feels that it was a good price as he had shopped around. If you are interested I can find out who did it for him.

I have a very good and reliable explanation for that. Your mail went from Canada Post to the U.S Mail Service, takes less than a week, not bad for sure However, if it went from Canada Post to Canada Post to a Canadian address it would have taken minimum 2 weeks At my house bills arrive within 2 days, a cheque...three weeks. Somehow they know, they just know. Don't know how but they know Have a good trip to this side of the river.

Sunday May 22, 2011 - The day I lost my fishing partner
pikehunter replied to fishnsled's topic in General Discussion
Sorry to hear of your loss. All of this sounds really sudden but keep your memories alive and know that somehow he will be there by your side. May he be in peace. -
Hmmmmm looks like we all awoke this morning. (hope we all have, sorry to hear if someone hadn't) and we have the opportunity to once again flick on the TV or OFC or whatever form of entertainment that thrills you. So I found this on the web and I would like to pass it onto those of us who are rejoicing another day of life on earth Actually a thought did cross my mind last night. Perhaps it all did end at 6 PM and all of us who were there at work were to spend all of eternity pacing the aisles of the store and all of those believers were now the customers entering the door and would be only here to taunt us forever more. When tryng to leave the parking lot there was gong to be an invisible force pushing us back. Back to the big box where if anything is coloured orange it is in camoflage. Man was it ever a boring evening....Can you tell? My link I am happy to say once again, Happy fishing to those who may partake.

Went to bed last night early felt like crap all day with a head cold, sinus infection or something nasty like that. Kept waking up every half hour from choking on..well no need for too many details is there. I figured if I feel this bad in the morning I don't want to go to work but with it being a holiday weekend it probably wouldn't go over that well with the boss. So I figured what the heck! The world won't exist as we know it come Saturday anyhow so why worry? The dead are to rise from the graves and the believers will all have their soles saved and not have to go through the fires and torture of the remaining days of the world. So I won't have to phone in sick snyway...what a relief! Well here I sit looking at some great pictures from one of our board brothers from his memorable trip to China, dug up a little of the garden and trimmed some bushes. Next thing on my list is rush off up the mountain to Ancaster for 9 hours in the store Oh well, maybe halfway up the Red Hill doomsday will occur and I will no longer have to work any more Saturdays! Happy fishing to all those who have the good fortune to enjoy the great weather today!

Iv'e had fries done in peanut oil before, fantastic! Some things at home we use a mixture of canola with olive oil and for fish usually canola but only because there is no other oil in the house. For fried eggs though there is nothing better than frying them in a little bit of bacon grease from the 1/2 dozen strips cooked in a separate frying pan.

Many of us had the same thoughts at that time. Seemed like the border was going the way of the iron curtain. Prostate exam But not so funny when I go to the urologist next month...Going to be in trouble, he was expecting me to go for a biopsy last year. Gee wonder why I procrastinated about it? Iv'e had it twce before...the last test they shot 11 needles into my prostate for samples. Afer the 6th KAZING I was totally numb and that made the remaining 5 a humiliating memory. Then urinating blood for 2 days after please noooooooo...... Those who have only had a colonoscopy don't realize how easy that is until they go for a prostate biopsy. How did I get onto this topic????

Ya but it's a diesel. Prob doesn't do to bad on fuel consumption and since it has been seen at an Oakville Crappy Tire too then most of the driving is more than likely highway use.... I take that back, driving on the QEW is not driving a highway but is more like sitting in a parking lot

If they are aluminum grab them...all of them! Fibreglass....run away, run as fast as you can. Old F.G boats, been there, done that.

Not really so far off base BB. I am referencing certain particular media people and politicians who pointed their finger at the North and made a big fuss to stir up the kettle. The ones who caused all the trouble on 911 did not enter from Canada and as a matter of fact didn't some of them take flying lessons in the States? Sure the States has the right to let who they choose in and in defence a tightening up of security is a good idea but they are focusing the attention on the wrong people. For God's sake the poster had more than a good enough reason to be crossing the border and the paperwork too. What he had happen to him was harasement. He was doing nothing illegal or made any motion as to an alternative reason to be going to a place he really had no desire to go to in the first place. And yes the Canadian Custom folks can be a P.I.T.A too! Guess I'm also tired of those same people I am talking about making your friendly northern neighbours out as the bad guys, remember we lost citizens on that day too and life here has had some changes. I had a relative who luckily was not there that particular week as he worked in and around the Trade Centre every other week and stayed at the hotel across from there which also was also destroyed. Your homeland is not the only country having to deal with terrorists, Britain and Europe has had a dose of it and remember the Canadian plane bombed over Scotland. Do I watch CNN anymore? No. Suppose that I am offended by some of the thoughts and the results thereof from some of the politicians and media type as I had always considered myself (in particular in my younger years) as much an American as a Canadian due to my background, upbringing, time spent south of the border and a brief spell living in Fla many years ago. I suppose Rattletrap2 could consider himself lucky as they never told him to drop his pants and bend over as the guard slipped on a pair of latex gloves jmho, hope that you don't take my thoughts personally B.Bob, and I wish I could get back to sleep after waking up at 3AM to have a pee!!! See Wayne's link

FANTASTIC! Love all the pics. Thank You

The paranoia continues. Just think of all the cross border shoppers who endure this just for the privilege of spending their pretty colourful canadian cash over there. Sorry to say but the Yanks have created a border nightmare. All because a couple of idiotic politicians and if I'm correct a particular CNN commentator were shooting their mouths off. Hope your next trip to my Grandfather's native soil doesn't result in your detainment over this sort of stupidity.

http://truck.hownd.c...uty-trucks.html F650 Wife and I were shopping at the mall surrounding the Queenston Rd. Canadian Tire (Hamilton) Fri. evening. Got into the car and were about to leave and noticed an orange truck parked around the side just like the one in the picture. What a monster! Just started the engine to pull away and a young fella is getting into the car next to us, it's a buddy of my son who works at Can. Tire and we pointed the truck out to him. Says it's the store owner and just then it starts up and the truck roars off past us. The kid says yep! I'm insured on it too 'cause it's under the store's insurance but I just gotta convince him to let me drive it once. What a toy! Guess the Crappy Tire store owner is making the big bucks eh?

But aren't they all going up? I don't think my premiums have gone down for years. However, I can remember an instance back in the late 70's. I had a '65 Plymouth Fury, my insurance dropped to about 89 bucks...for the entire year! The government had detirmined that the car insurance companies had made an excess profit the previous year. That particular time, $89, reflected a rebate, it was though probably only 20 bucks or so taken off that years rates though...those were the days

Nice pictures. Reminds me of a time when I was young. My father and I came across a tiny creek off a Muskoka gravel road. The stream was no more than 2 feet wide and it was full of speckles. It was a great afternoon. Thanks for taking the time to post.

Simple answer: If you both answered the same then they can determine if indeed you and your buddy were actually in the same room. To me the questionaire is a means of giving them credibillity. Don't think there is a reason to get your tail feathers in a flutter. I can't say for sure as I have never dealt with them, but there is more than likely a clause in the instructions that there could be an audit good job helping your buddy pass now let him take you out in his aunts tinny and enjoy the time spent.

KABOOM!

Liiquid roller sounds good. Go to the MSDS link that was also posted for list of contents, interesting.

Agree. I'm amazed by how so many forget Mike Harris and what he did. And Mulroney and the GST. Then the Fiberals promise of dropping the GST. I am left minded, sorry if that offends those of you who are not but that is exactly why I vote and why this is the best place to live. Doesn't matter who gets elected, we all know that they will do whatever it is to piss off the next guy. We all need to go FISHING! Cheers to the conservatives for pulling the wool over the eyes of Canadians once again.

Top R. corner is really out of touch with today's way of thinking. I remember cans becoming popular in the States in the 60's but don't remember cans with a bottle cap. Imagine if you had a case of those it may be worth a buck or 2 to the right person. Really neat ad.

That is in nice condition! A good sound purchase from the look of your pictures. Remember adding a deck or floor is going to add weight and you are going to lower the carrying capcity. Princess Auto does have decent tire prices, but only if there is a store close to you.

Great pictures thanks for putting them up.
