  1. Yep the only issue I really have with them is the heat generated. Having said that they are on much less in the summer than the winter. I am considering converting the outside pot's to warm LED as they are on every night for 6 or 7 hours in the winter and 3 or 4 in the summer.
  2. I understand Dan and I appreciate all of the help, sincerely, but, at $1.47 each taxes in vs $19.00 taxes in wholesale, (more than 12 x) x close to 50 fixtures...........the math still doesn't make sense. I get roughly 12 months out of each bulb in each potlight, some I haven't changed in close to 3 years when they were installed.
  3. Thank you I will keep it in mind
  4. Thanks for sharing Roy, great video. Like Lew I hit the mute button after 30 secs or so. None the less awesome!
  5. I offered him my Princecraft, the one in the Avatar for less than $20K Wayne and was willing to store it over the winter...It was $35K+ new with all the options and it only has about 65 hours total on it!
  6. This is an amazing community! Roy, you have gone above and beyond what anyone might expect from a friend. Thank you....
  7. Since we had the reno's done and the pot lights installed our hydro bill is essentially the same as it was. If I was to replace all of the halogen with LED I would have a bill of approx. $2,000 + HST.....I figure if I saved 10% off my total hydro bill (doubtful) I would save about $180 a year....
  8. Thanks Fisherman but I have been paying less than $2.00 a bulb for the PAR 20 Halogen and they last 12 months on average. LED ones are 10-20 times that cost depending on where you buy them and I am not crazy on the light beam that they cast.
  9. Those are the ones Roy..the company that supplied them to Costco was sold to a Chinese conglomerate. They are anywhere from $4.99 to $6.99 a piece in single packs. That would be most helpful as I have at least 40 fixtures in and out that use these bulbs. They usually last about 12 months. Let me know the details by PM and I will get you the funds any way that works for you. 3 boxes would be ideal.
  10. Have a lot of pot lights inside and out that take PAR 20 bulbs. Used to be able to buy 10 packs at Costco or Rona but was told they had been discontinued (bulk packs). I probably have to replace one a month (most fixtures have been in place 2-3 years). I can buy singles at grossly over inflated prices. Does anyone know of a reasonable source or do I have to convert them?
  11. Sounds like a great adventure is unfolding my friend. We will have to get together when you get back and see the vacation pics..
  12. Not a new concept in the auto business Joe. Used to make about 50 cold calls a week in the 70's and even knocked on doors. Translated into about 1 sale a week for me. Those were the days when dealers made money on sales and service revenue was ancilliary.
  13. You and I belong to the same church Bernie....
  14. Merry Christmas Kelvin....
  15. 1. Christmas Story 2. Christmas Vacation 3. Christmas Carol (Alister Sim)
  16. Nice....those boys are keepers, I have had fun fishing with them both!
  17. Lost power around 2 and came back on around 6am. Lots of ice and downed tree limbs. Just got internet back up. Lotsa scotch, beer, wine and food... and plenty of propane to cook if power goes out again...Supposedly tens of thousands without power in southern ontario for some time to come..
  18. Scrumpy is nasty stuff Lew. Used to drink it at barn dances when I was a teen. The real stuff outta the barrel has cores and seeds and peels and the odd toenail floating around in it. If I remember correctly it was around 15 or 16%! If you drank enough of it you could get drunk again the next day just by drinking water in an attempt to rehydrate....lol.. By the way I have a bottle in the liquor cabinet if you are brave enough.
  19. Like Lew I have spent limited time on the water over the past few years. my boat bought new in 2008 has around 50-60 hours running time on it total. We were at a cottage in Muskoka for a week in July and in Kawarthas for a week in September, some days the boat didn't move from the dock. Mojo is fading and other interests have taking its place. Who knows maybe it will come back maybe it won't. Boat up for sale in the Spring.
  20. Seems as though with every thread you get involved in you have some kind of negativity to throw around.....you have a choice as to whether or not to participate in everything in life, perhaps take a look in the mirror before you criticize others. Personally I don't get involved in overly hyped consumerism on either side of the border either but taking a general whack at all of our friends for something that is overly glorified by the media and for the actions of the few morons is short sighted, at best! Just sayin'...
  21. Have a wonderful day with family and friends y'all...I won't be able to get roast turkey and stuffing outta my head...
  22. My daughter has been in there for a fund raiser quite the place...(palace)
  23. Property development is already well underway...they are not condo's in the traditional sense.
  24. There are 7 or so of these type of estates on the Oakville lakefront that change hands from time to time. Mostly new money guys who either want to impress their wives, families, friends or girlfriends....... There is a smaller version on the Burlington lakefront that underwent a multi million reno, sold 6 months later and then torn down and rebuilt, go figure. If you want to see unbridled excess on the lakefront Google Chelster Hall, built by Hugo Powell, ex CEO of Interbrew, The numbers vary but most accurate estimate is around $50 million. Must be money in beer...
  25. In a position of authority and trust you can not lie to your constituents and expect all to be OK. If he had come clean from the get go he would have had a pretty good chance of weathering the storm. I am not a big Rob fan but?........just sayin'. He may be looking for bail already if he was mayor south of the border!
