It's amazing how some (note some) hunters go into immediate damage control mode when someone is shot. There is no excuse for shooting someone. There are no accidents. Just stupidity. If in doubt, don't take the dangg shot!

Good morning Brian. First of all congrats on a milestone that 2/3 do not reach... My sincere condolences on your loss. I lost my Grandfather many years ago now, yet I still feel his presence from time to time. I'm sure that he will always look over your shoulder........... John..

Hi douG, how are they hanging......? As you obviously are looking at something with a long zoom take a look at these... http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/canon_s3is.asp http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Fuji...inepixs6000.asp http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Sony/sony_dsch7.asp I have the Fuji and if you like the manual side of a camera you will love it. Has RAW capability. It doesn't have IS but if you can compose a shot without shaking there are no probs. If you like more of the auto features go for the Canon. Don't know much about the Sony except their lenses are AI. I have talked to a couple of guys about the Panasonic and they were only luke warm about it. Used to be that the Leica lens sold the Panasonic camera... Having said that it's really all about what works for you. I would probably spend a night or two doing the touchy-feely thing at a place like BestBuy etc and then decide what you like. Price on all of them is not very far apart. Don't make the mistake that a lot of people do and get caught up in the MP race. 6-8MP is way plenty. Putting 10+ MP's on a tiny sensor doesn't make a lot of sense to me as you suffer in other areas. Try getting a price from Dave Chong (I believe that's his name) from the board. He claims that he will give OFC's the best price anywhere. Good luck, J...

Hey bookoo, how are you liking the 6000fd? I got one a few months ago and really like it. Musty admit that I haven't used it as much as I would like and I'm still trying to understand all of the manual settings. John

Lew, When I lived in the UK some friends ran a hamburger joint on the sea front not far from where I lived. They had an English Mastiff (of Hound of the Baskervilles fame) who was a really big boy. At closing time they fed him the leftovers and he ate a hamburgers, bun and everything with one chew and one swallow! Of course he is long gone, however I have photo of him consuming his 6th hamburger in 2 minutes, the kids loved to have their photo taken with him......I will scan it and post it if I can put my hands on it. John..

Hey Pete, I hear that they are putting a Walmart at Fairview and Appleby!

It seems like so called tourist areas have been granted the ability to impose a levy under the guise of tourism development! Guess where the additional few % points go......into the pockets of the already overpriced places that are charging it. I was in Niagara on the Lake last year with my wife and we bought a few items to take back for our grandchildren. When we discovered the so called additional tax I challenged the store and they said it was a "tourist tax". When I asked whether it was a provincial or municipal tax she got a little upset and said "it costs a lot to run a store you know". At that point we left!

I can only go by the article in Angling Times (UK). It was rod and line caught. I think that the way that I see the photo is that he is sat with that enormous belly over his knees...

Hi Hookset, I wish you well. Keep up informed...

Too bad..... kids should be able to be kids, without the pressure of parents wanting to live their lives through their children. You must be a joy at the hockey arena!

FRANK Warwick kicked off his catfishing career in spectacular style by banking this enormous 203lb specimen from Spain’s River Segre on his first ever trip targeting the species......

I really don't think that creating growth in the sport of fishing has anything to do with tournaments or the lack thereof in Canada. We don't have a professional soccer league in Canada, however soccer is the most popular summer youth sport in the country. Getting our kids involved in the sport, in my opinion, is all about "wetting a line" with Dad, Mum, Grandparents, etc, etc..........If they want to gravitate to the professional side of our sport in time, then so be it.......I don't think as a youngster, that I would have been even remotely interested in attending a "bass club or organization". I don't think that we need to "attack" our children to get them involved, just take them with you and forget about the competitive side for a while.............

I really like that third photo Scott. Looks like another great day!

Unfortunately Burlington was fighting a war that it could not win. It really had nothing to do with running out of money. Why plow another 1/2 mil into legal fees when it was a done deal. Seems to me that Muskoka is past the point of no return when it comes to development. I have a cousin who is a general contractor on Lake of Bays and unfortunately fractional ownerships and condo's are being approved on an ongoing basis. As there is an existing development with a private road, I don't think that your battle is winnable either. I hope that I'm wrong....

As usual, Cliff's advice is well thought out and on the button...........

Hey Gerritt, Nothing wrong with Sears Craftsman, but go with a Honda powered mulching model. Forget about a self propelled model they are more trouble than they are worth. Mow your lawn as frequently as is necessary to make sure that you only remove a maximum of 1/3 of the height of the grass. Mulch the clippings and leave them on the lawn.....and....don't cut too short, 2" minimum and 3" is better especially in the heat of the summer... J...

Actually it's the velvet on the antlers that make all the difference...

Well, I have fished a fair amount in Europe so NWT lakers, Labrador and BC salmon and maybe a halibut sidetrip would do it for me....

Mark, if you are interested in doing it e-mail or tel me as my father in law was (is) in the business and we could help with the decision.
