  1. Well, I have fished a fair amount in Europe so NWT lakers, Labrador and BC salmon and maybe a halibut sidetrip would do it for me....
  2. Mark, if you are interested in doing it e-mail or tel me as my father in law was (is) in the business and we could help with the decision.
  3. Mornin' Mo.........yes I have greenish brown stuff on my lawn too...unfortunately I will have to pick it up soon before the weather gets any warmer.....lol J...
  4. Great read Squid, I was looking for that article, but you beat me to it...
  5. is the newly announced ecoAuto Rebate Program a complete load of bollocks? www.tc.gc.ca They have committed $160,000,000 of our tax dollars to providing rebates that are based entirely on CFCR fuel consumption ratings. For some obscure reason they have qualified 9 SUV's and 8 cars. The SUV's include Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass. The rest are hybrids with the exception of the Toyota Yaris, the Mini Cooper and the Toyota Corolla. Let's forget for a moment that all of these so called consumption ratings are completely bogus and are supplied by the auto makers themselves who "test" them at a steady 80 or 90KPH on a banked track, but what the *&@%$% are they planning on doing with all of those batteries that are replaced over the next 2-10 years. In my feeble mind that is not so eco-friendly. By the way, in case you were wondering, to get actual "achievable" fuel consumption ratings you must gross up by 55% the "city" mileage and 45% the "hwy" mileage......these adders are actually published by Transport Canada.....go figure!
  6. Personal opinion on some of the long standing WR's, particularly those 75 yrs + is that checks and balances are way more sophisticated these days. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the "oldies" are (were) somewhat stretched..... J...
  7. Any ceramic tile guys out there who would be interested in a small job (100sq') in Burlington? Fairly easy job but I just don't have the time..
  8. As we are all suffering a little cabin fever, here is a little diversion. A client friend of mine sent this to me. Largest ship in the world. Emma Maersk operating out of the largest port in the world, Rotterdam. She is loaded by 11 cranes operating continuously. Length is almost 1/2 KM, 63 metres wide. She has a dead weight of 123,200 tons. Carries 15,000 containers. Powered by 110,000 BHP diesel and has top speed of 50KPH. Apparently a special silicon paint was applied to the hull that minimizes drag and supposedly saves 1.2 million litres of diesel fuel annually. I didn't find out how much she actually burns!
  9. Hi Ishmael, (I assume that it's OK to call you that)... Welcome aboard....That is indeed a beauty!!
  10. Hey Wayne, can we hicks say arse on here? John..

Parking $10.00 Entrance $35.00 (two adults, one child) Three drinks, one slice of Pizza $20.00 Having to pay $2.00 - $5.00 a time for everything else he wanted to do......... $ Priceless... Pretty slow around the boat displays. I stopped twice to look and got mugged each time! Special Edition Lund was nice tho'.. Did anyone see that, (I believe it was 150hp), tiller? 16. So sorry to hear of your loss Vance. I have tears in my eyes this morning as my Dad is in the final stages of lung cancer. I have no doubt that all of our Dad's who have passed are there with us in spirit doing the things that we loved to do together. Keep your chin up and remember him fondly. John..
  17. I have see a real B29 fly. Don't remember the same maneuverability though. Quite the control!!! http://users.skynet.be/fa926657/files/B29.wmv
  18. Enough for a shore fry up once or twice a year....the rest go back regardless of size. I agree with Gerritt, Pike, properly filleted are just as good. J...
  19. By now, (assuming you didn't fall off the wagon), you have gone three days..... It really does get much better from here on..... The nicotine addiction starts to go away and what you are left with is association...... You associate having a cigarette with.......whatever it is. For me it was many things including having a beer, summer mornings on the deck with a coffee and the newspaper...etc, etc. You really do have to change your habits that were (are) triggers. It is very tough but once you do it's much easier. I am probably second to Cliff in the most times quit and failed. I watched my Mum die from Emphysema a couple of years ago an my Dad is in the final stages of Lung Cancer. It's not a pretty way to go. I eventually did it for my kids and grandkids. For me, it was a $100 a week after tax habit (at todays prices)................$5200.00 a year!!! It will be the best thing you ever did, and will look back and wonder why you didn't do it 20 years ago! IM me if I can help............ John
  20. Rick, why would they leave out most of Europe? Scandinavian countries rank particularly high... Not taking anything away from Canada.........this is an amazing country.
  21. Oil is a commodity and prices rise and fall with supply and demand. Unfortunately, the oil companies maximize what they charge for refined product on the upswing and drag their heels on the downswing. Not really any different than any other free market commodity. I still don't like paying 97.9 though!
  22. Hello Cliff, I'm no guide, in fact I usually require one. However what a great idea. I would book with you in an instant though.....
