  1. Sorry I meant to add as it is posted where you park at all of the ponds including that one.
  2. This is not a honey hole. I live accross the street and I can tell you the origins of both types fo fish on the ponds. There are also perch and some smallmouth up to 5 pounds (not many) the reason no one else fishes there anymore (I used to) is because according to the town of Oakville by law the pond is off limits to fishing and has been for 2 years, as is all other recreational ponds located within residential areas in the town of Oakville. 3. Fishing at the dam has been quite poor this year (at least from what I have seen) I havent even seen a bow the last 3 times. I was hitting fish a month or 2 ago and not even one since. Smed
  4. On another Simcoe note... Does anyone know if the canals are open water yet??? I wanna get fishing as soon as possible and dont know if its worth driving past Bradford yet. Thanks Smed
  5. I was down there this week a couple days after the rain. I fished first light and did not have a hit all morning, didn't see anyone else hook into anything either. Fish were surfacing but not as many as you would expect for right now. Very tough fishing with high water at least float fishing was. Smed
  6. Thanks for the help, my friend and I grew up fishing together and he hasn't done too much fishing since he has been up there and it would be great for the two of us to tie into some fish. I'm hoping the cold weather hasn't turned the fish off up there, because I was in peterborough this past weekend and did awesome on the walleyes. Smed
  7. Hey guys I'm heading up to Ottawa to visit a friend who is in university. How is the fishing up there in the cold fall weather. I just winterized my boat yesterday and taking it is not an option. I do quite well this time of year for walleyes from shore in our area of Ontario does the same shallow flowing water methods apply in the Rideau Canal?? Any type of fishing action would be nice for the weekend. Thanks, Smed
  8. I walked one of the most easterly tribs on my way home from montreal yesterday and I could not believe my eyes I literally saw about 500-600 steelies. I am working out the kinks in my camera so I can post the vid of the fish jumping. Honestly I have never seen that many steelies at once, truly a wonderful sight to see. Smed
  9. I live on the river at the area in question, fishing has been OK, stressing OK, on the lowest part of the river at hwy 5 fishing has been very below average this year. Smed
  10. Thanks alot for the reply, I didnt know you were on this board I was with you last opener and in port hope this fall with Mike E. Eric (Smed)
  11. I have fished old mill once as I went to university in toronto and living in oakville its not a far drive for me, I was reading in the regs where is open year round and where is extended. How it the fishing above old mill? is there any good spots near eglinton area? Any response would be appreciated Eric (Smed)
  12. Thanks for the help guys, As for the walleye I do know that they came a long time ago from buck lake however another lake in the area, not going to mention the name as those around will already know, had the same situation and they have been reproducing in mass numbers with more and more caught by.. well me... every year. Maybe reproduction in Vernon is different from that lake or maybe they keep moving along the waterway, regardless of the situation I will give it a try this weekend. Thanks again, Smed PS if anyone else has info keep it coming because I will need all the help I can get since I have never been to Vernon
  13. Hey Guys, I am going to a friend's trailer this weekend and seeing as it is pike opener I was wondering where on Lake Vernon is a good place to launch. We are staying just north of Hunters bay. During the day I will be fishing for pike and I also heard that Vernon has Lake Trout in it, where would I try for them or is the whole lake generally deep and easy to fish. Also is there anywhere in paticular to try for walleyes in the evening. I am not asking people to give me their hidden secrets just areas that could lead me in the right direction in order to have a somewhat successful weekend. Any input would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance, Smed
  14. Has anyone possibly seen if there is water free of ice in keswick at either the maskinoge river or the inlets off ravenshoe, or even in Bradford. Trying to get out for some crappies and/or perch this weekend. Smed
