Lake Baptiste Fishing Mainly For Small/Large Mouth Advice?
John Bacon replied to Pali2's topic in General Discussion
Go around the point and head for the small narrows to the upper left of the X on your map. It's all faily shallow and weedy north that narrows. The water is pretty deep in your area.- 12 replies

Is there a reason why you wouldn't just buy a portable unit to begin with?

Does anyone have any recommended sites for wind forecasts? I have see forecasts for under 5km and over 20km for tomorrow morning. That is a pretty big difference for a wind out of east on Lake Ontario.

Metal roofing v traditional shingles?
John Bacon replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
I am wondering what the wiring job would be like on those. The tiles are 365 x 184 mm (14.4 x 7.25 inches). That is less than one square foot per shingle. Even a small house would have over a thousand shingles. Larger houses would have several thousand. They do mix solar & non-solar tiles in a roof. But you still have five or six hundred tiles (or more) that need to be wired up as opposed to five or six panels on a conventional solar roof. Do they drill five or six hundred holes in the decking and send someone up to the attic to attach two wires to each tile? I cannot think of another way to do it. They may be able to speed up the process by having prefabed connector on each tile and a prefabed wire assembley with multiple connectors to attach to the tiles. But I think someone is still going to be spending quite a bit of time in the attic wiring everything up. -

Do you have instructions for installing a waterfall on your property

Really? The figure that I read was $50,000 USD for a Tesla roof with battery system. We wouldn't need the battery system in Ontario if you sell back to the grid. But even without a battery system a one year pay back doesn't sound reasonable.

Are you suggesting that it is likely that someone may remove their prop, batteries, and fishing equipment from their boat in order to trick a CO on a road side check in believing that they had not been fishing?
-
It is funny when you think of it that way.

The new Tesla roofs look good. They have solar shingles instead of adding solar panels to an existing roof. That would solve some of the problems with solar. They are a less efficient though. Connecting all of those shingles may be an issue those.

That's not exactly true. As long as you keep in on the entire time that you are in the boat, you do not need to have another PFD in the boat. The 'For some reason' is also quite clear. It is because they do not count as a PFD if you are not wearing them. So if you take the inflatable off at any point, you need to have a conventional PFD in the boat to count as your PFD on board. I can see some logic in an inflatable not counting if you are not wearing it. If the boat sank and the auto inflate didn't work, it may just sink and leave you with nothing. If you are wearing it, they usually have a manual inflate option if the auto inflate doesn't work.

Re: "Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault has said OPG has expertise in managing hydro-related debt." That's an understatement. Hopefully the voters won't fall for it... I know, wishful thinking.

I think they are native to Lake Ontario. They are definitely known to be in the Lake. http://www.ontariofishes.ca/fish_detail.php?FID=120

I couldn't help but notice this on your link... filmed in my neighbourhood.

For $20 a month I would expect random lures of the month; not random lure of the month. Regardless, I would rather use the $240 per year to pick what I want instead of what someone else decides to send me.

Silly question. Can you hose out the inside of a boat?
John Bacon replied to Tjames09's topic in General Discussion
I just raise the bow and remove the drain plug, the water just drains out the back. It's going to get just wet when it rains anyway. I store my boat with the bow up and the drain plug out, so the water isn't sitting there, it just passes through. Long term water damage would be an issue for boats that have water in them for long periods. Having an uncovered boat tied to the dock all summer that may be full of water during the week when nobody is there to bail it out is more of an issue than hosing down the carpets when the boat is sitting bow up with no drain plug. -
Probably because the liability is mandatory while fire & theft and collision are optional.
-
There is no legal requirement to have collision insurance on an automibile; so I doubt that there is one for ATVs. If you are financing the purchase, you may be required to have collision & comprehensive in addition to liability. That is way it works with cars & trucks.

Changing the floor boards on a boat. (Photo Added)
John Bacon replied to jimmer's topic in General Discussion
Unless the rivits are holding the floor boards down (I have see this), you shouldn't have to remove any rivits. Pictures would help. -
I used to rent part of my house out. The policy did not cover vandalism my tennents. This was renting a portion of a house that I was living in. I think there are more insurance issues when you will not be present. Make sure you know what your insurance covers.
