1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Vs. Whitetail Deer
Motorhead replied to brandon's topic in General Discussion
I`d fix the rad and drive it.... you hit a deer small or not with a civic and there will be alot more than just a few sore muscles... glad your OK... too bad you couldn`t keep it.... Doug -
I had the Garmin E-map for about 5 years, and loved it until the screen went black on me.... I called Garmin head-office and was told that since it is a discontinued model that they couldn`t fix it and I was basically S.O.L in getting it fixed.... That being said I`ll still probably buy a Garmin when I save enough coin to get one... Doug

Now that`s a Great report... Looks like you got into some nice fish and the weather was an added bonus... Just wondering on the beer bottle picture??? I thought you weren`t allowed to bring in glass containers??? Doug

I was offered a free 16` canoe. It was going to the dump so I grabbed it even though it`s in really rough shape... After looking it over I thought I`d just sand it down with a belt sander and re-fibreglass it ??? The only paddling I do is on the Grand River from Caledonia to Cayuga a few times a year so weight is not an issue... there`s no portaging involved . Here`s some pictures of it so you`ll get the idea of what I have to work with ??? This is the only identification I can find on it ??? Any ideas what make this is ??? This is the bottom.... lots of old caulking and previous patch jobs ( I can see this ruining alot of belts) Here`s the yoke... Made out of a broken paddle Here`s one of the inside and of a nice crack in the stern Doesn`t look to promising but I figured what the hell..... a can or 2 of resin, 100sq feet of glass and who knows how many belts for my beltsander and when I`m done it should hopefully float for the few hours per trip that I`m in it I`m open for suggestions.... and if I do end up making the time to start this project I`ll take lots of pictures on the progress... thanks Doug

And you happen to know for a fact it was smelters that dumped a battery ON THE BOTTOM ??? If you saw them doing it why didn`t you say or do something about it ???? I was down there for almost all of last week and I never saw a battery or anything else get tossed in the water??? If I did you can be dam sure the dude that dropped it would be swimming for it..... I just don`t believe it???? I`ll be looking all along the pier tonight to see if there is a battery down there.... This kind of stuff really pisses me off.. Doug

I`ve been going down to the pier for about the last week.... There has been a few caught but the run hasn`t really started yet... I`ll be back down there tonight??? Get there early to get a good spot on the pier..... Doug

Just did a little google search on these nut cases the Cormorant Defenders International... Here`s what I found... http://www.zoocheck.com/news/?articleId=265 Pretty scary what these people will do .... Wouldn`t it be nice to see them get involved and put some time and money into something like saving our MNR?? I fish a few times a year just outside of Algonquin park and If I see any cormorants my .308 is going to get sighted in... Kill `em all Doug
-
That is one nasty looking fish... Just make sure you don`t fall overboard.... Doug

Your neighbour is GUILTY and so were YOU for turning the blind eye... Poaching is poaching ........ Period.......

Now that was funny..... Doug

The only reason there is not a season on cormorants, is because they taste like SH!^ ..... Had a couple show up at the hunt camp this past summer... Suffice to say, they won`t be showing up this summer.... Doug

I hit the lift bridge in Burlington (lake Ont.) for smelts every year with my Dad... Just waiting for the first warm rain to fall and they should be in there.... Doug

I haven`t done it in a while, and won`t until I get a new GPS... Great to do with kids, and it gets you into some places you never realized were there... I liked to leave a small pack of jigs... Doug

I used to believe in Garmin all the way.... I own a Garmin E-map and have had it for about 5 years now.... Went to use it last Nov. for the deer hunt and after turning it on I noticed that the screen was still blank... It was working but the screen was screwed... While I was at the spring fishing show I talked to the Rep from Garmin, he basically told me I was S.O.L.... Not worth fixing??? I was like What the heck?? I paid 500+ dollars for the thing...and now your saying that the company won`t even look at it??? Then he procceded to try and sell me another one, not a chance.... I haven`t tried getting ahold of the company directly but I will... So if you go with Garmin BEWARE>>> my .02 Doug
