Bowmanville Fishing Show and Swap - Anyone Going?
Ron replied to James77's topic in General Discussion
The show was a great success! We had a lot of people through our booth and it did very well for my Nephews hobby business. We had a couple of retail stores come over and you just might see "Gremlins custom tackle and ties" in a store near you. As for myself, I had sold most of my rods and most of my reels. The people who attended the show early got the best deals. My hat is off to Peter and the Bommanville Fishing Club for organizing such a smooth operation. Being a club volunteer, I know all to well what work is involved and the pay rate that joins it. hahaha On the up side, Bommanville Fishing Club just received a new member! My way of supporting the club itself. Cheers, Ron... -

Bowmanville Fishing Show and Swap - Anyone Going?
Ron replied to James77's topic in General Discussion
We actually got a booth set up this year. My Nephew is selling hand poured and tied jigs and I am selling off a few hand fulls of rods and 20 some odd reels I don't use anymore. -
I believed the whole recipe thing until I saw 1/4 bottle of beer. Then I said to myself, there is no way you wasted a 1/4bottle of beer.......

Yes, his deed shows "to waters edge". One of the very few in Ontario. As one of the above posters said, done some hip waders and stand in the water. It will irritate the ell out of him. So, why bother. Just stand on the west side of river and get no flack. Cheers, Ron...

If the pike was caught on the great lakes system, i would lean towards a lamprey.

Very impressive Mike. Looks like you had a great season. My year was a total bust. Bruised a couple of ribs and tore the ligaments in my shoulder.

Easy way to connect bottom bounce weights?
Ron replied to sneak_e_pete's topic in General Discussion
1 oz to 10 ft rule is good. Start with 1 oz rigs and have 1 oz egg sinkers. Want more weight? slip on egg sinker, make a sharp bend behind sinker and then a needle nose jaw width, bend the other direction to set the wire back in place. -

We are so sorry to hear this Wayne. Jen was very courageous and an inspiration to many of us. Our heartfelt condolences to your family, may she rest in peace now.

On Rice..... Best crank bar none = Rapala shad rap SR05 in HOT STEEL. Slow retrieve, I mean very slow retrieve. But instead of running crank baits, try using a basic black bucktail jig. Get 10 -15 ft into the edge of a weed line, any weed line don't matter the depth and just let it fall to the bottom and rip it back up.

Wow is Roy ever small in his red jacket.

X 2. Don't waste your time taking worms to begin with.

I went the extra mile and got a hub and spindle to match my axle. Welded a plate on it and mounted that on the trailer. Now I have a complete set so if I blow my bearings, I can easily change it on the road and carry on.

The cobourg fish lift will be held Saturday April 18th at 8 am weather permitting. Google ''The Mill restaraunt'' in Cobourg for directions.

I met a fairy today that granted me one wish. "I want to live forever," I said. "Sorry" said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant wishes like that!" "Fine" I said, "I want to die after the Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup!" "You crafty bugger," said the fairy.

Sure would be nice to read some fishing reports
Ron replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
It took a while to find the Lakers for us but I think we found ''The spot''. With the white out conditions on the weekend, it did a great job blocking out the background. We have been going out miles from shore only to find out we should be just walking to our spots. -
Quite a few years ago, A good friend of mine was showing off his new camera to all us guys in 1 of Rob Hyatts rental ice huts on Nippissing. He pulls it out of his camera bag and as he turns, he bumps the frame holding the bunks in place and then this caused his camera to slip out of his hands. That bounced several times before it went "plunk" down the hole it goes. We even saw the splash of the water! Everyone was speachless and I remember buddy saying..."Oh my wife is gonna $#@#$%$ kill me!" On Sunday as we were packing up, we were all chuckling about his mishap and then something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. I take a second look and low and behold, there it is,,,, buddies brand new camera just a mere inch away from the hole. It didn't go down after all! To everyone's surprise, especially our friend, the camera was in perfect working condition. The fortunate soul is on this site, you know who you are. LOL Cheers, Ron...

Nooch, as we all know him by, is very alive and doing well. He has gotten up north only a few times this year as he plays on weather conditions. I usually run into him every other morning or so. Next time I see him, I will show him this thread.
