Proposed rainbow trout regulation Change for Lake Ontario ( fmz 20)
dhickey replied to aniceguy's topic in General Discussion
or higher water levels? wich increase spawning grounds=more fish to spawn?=more fish to spawn=and so on and so on and so on. granted we as anglers cant realy control water levels(thats up to the hydro companys) but maby if we keep barking at them we can help restore fish populations!!! along with practicing catch and release? as i stand here today higher water levels in our lakes and rivers and streams during spawning and gestation of eggs is crucial in order to sustain native fish stock as well as stocked fish!!!??? saltydawg... stay out of the creeks and rivers after spawning. morrons responsible anglers exluded -
price piont is the objective here. i have looked but not willing to spend 250-350 just to see if they like it or not. 150-200 tops. they are just kids if they like it they will move on to better equipment. i cant seem to find any thing in this class? saltydawg. any sudjestions welcome pls.

i was introduced to compounds about 4 yrs ago. i bought my first one last fall. bow-teck air raid. all tricked out with octaine accesories. withen 2 weeks i was hitting 50yrds. spot on. i love it cant wait to get it out 2moro. my main question is where do i find a bow that our kids can learn on ? we have kids that want to learn how to shoot . dont worry they know the rules buy now they are chomping at the bit to come out and practice with us! ps. they retreave the arrows for us and never complain. saltydawg.

verry intrested in this type of fishing. i have had some luck in the past but it was most likely dumb luck. i usualy used a 6ft lead 4-6 pound tied to the smallest swivel i could find.with a small balsa float just in front of the swivel about 18inches. it was all tryal and error. gave up on it because none of my freinds took any intrest in it. willing to learn ill be watching for any tips. saltydawg

i cant speek about china first hand but as a child i was dragged through europe. my mother always had friends that she managed to find from our part of the world due to a network set up by companys in order to help the familys adjust to their new lives. i would expect that in this day and age that it would be much easyer to find via computer/internet. hope this helps. ps. it was always nice to meet families from our part of the world. speaking from a childs piont at the time. salty

my daughter shut off all the lights/tvs/computers and lit the candels. she then decided to make a tent using the dinning room chairs and blankets/ just like we all used to do as kidds.!!? she then insisted that i join her in the tent and we talked about all the things that go through an 8yr olds mind . it was trurely somthing i will never forget! put all the politics aside. i would do it again 2moro. conservation is the key to tomoros futer like it or not. quicke point. we all practice concervation while fishing?? 1 more piont. power can be generated in several ways. even out of every plumbing stack in every house all over the world.! we even have 0 resistance wire! delorian starting to ring any bells? personaly i just enjoy my kidds and hope that the tourch we pass on to them will burn bright! salty

no my mistake... more along the line of 16 inch ??

would water levels have a drastic affect on spawning? if so than i think that might explain the lack of mid size fish.? about 5-6yrs ago the water level droped by about 12 inches and took about 3 -4 yrs to recover.

any bow hunters out there? since i bought my first compound last fall my dughter has been on my back to get one for her. she is 4-4ft so im thinking that 16 inch draw should get her into somthing good to start with. i have looked around but cant seem to find any thing that i feel comfortable buying for her. price is to low (junk 60-70$) or to high (275-400$). she is very intrestd because every time i go practice shes right there helping . i would like to get her into somthing that she can grow with and if she decides to put it down we also have a couple more young ones up and comming in the family. 2nd .. cant for the life of me get my pics onto OFC tryed photobucket but just cant get it. any help would be welcome . i have a post on the computer section of the foum. 3rd i posted a topic titeld big fish. thank you for all the input but i am going to pull it up again and then let it go.

ok lets get this streight. i would never take a fish from this lake or any other just to let it go to waste. but my concern is that the small ones arnt there . its all private land around the lake and not allot of people fish it. i am also shure that some of the fish i have cought over the past few years i have let go in the past. i only keep 2 or 3 per year and their not the 6-7 pound i always let them go. i also understand that a healthy breeding population is crucial. but when the pike you see are massive and no hamer handles and the bass seem to go from small to huge is there a problem? with not having the mid range fish.? dont get me wrong the 5-7 guys are only once or twice per year . we only go there on long weekends and the odd vacation. my cuzz and i know how to work this lake. im just sayin it woud be nice to see the 2-4 pounders again regularly.

i have been lucky enough over the past 43 years to have access to a small lake where i have watched the cycles of fish namely pike and bass. as a child the lake teamed with bass and the odd nice pike (10-17pounds thats big for this lake) through my 20s it was all nice bass 3-5 pounds. mid 30s early 40s its all big fish and the odd good eating one. my cuosin and i have no problem catching them but im begining to wonder if they should be weeded out? the baitfish population has declined dramaticaly over the past 6 7 yrs and smaller ones are not as plentyful.(bass/pike) it would seem to me that the big ones would be eating the food that the smaller need to survive. and the spawning beds just dont appear as often in the spring. has catch and release gone to far ? any insight is welcome. saltydawg.

my jetta did that about a month ago. i could hear the wipper moter. no movement with the wipers. there are several linkages in there . it only takes one of the main ones close to the wiper moter to wear out . my mechanic got the right part from the auto wrecker ant the whole deal only cost 90 bucks. and no agrivation.
