  1. I'm shocked, truly shocked! not that Legend failed you, but that you expected them to right a wrong. They have a staff turn over that is unbelieveable. On two occassions I had to go there, there was a different service manager each time. I had my boat winterized there once, and only once. Although I own a Legend boat that I purchased used, it was never on my list of new boat dealers. I am pleased with the boat model I own, and really never had a problem. Most of the service, minor repairs, in line gas filters, lower unit lube and fogging can be done in your back yard. For reliable service, word of mouth travels faster than the speed of light. It is too bad that the service manager at Legend boats does not have a clue about after market service or customer satisfaction. He can threaten all he wants, but, if he didn't have the hangy downs to look after a minor customer problem, he won't have them to pursue the matter further. I understand that Top Gun Marine in Innisfil comes highly recommended for after market service. I haven't been in need of major repairs, but the number to tournament boats lined up for service, leads me to believe this is the place to get quality service. Good luck John
  2. Good luck. I hope this cold front doesn't disrupt the fishing too much. When your totals are in, I will be making a donation to you for Cast for a Cure. Be safe my friend John
  3. Welcome back, Garry it is good to know all is now well with you. Keep up the effort on your heart re-hab and you'll outlive all of us. John
  4. I have a hand held unit, the only thing I use it for is to check the weather before leaving the driveway. I purchased my fixed mount radio at the boat show from West Marine. I worked with them to get me the best antenna for my 15 ft tinnie. I ended up with a 4ft double whip (?) by shakespeare. I mounted it on the corner at the rear. When not in use it folds flat against the gunwhale. The radio is DSC compatible and will connect to my Lowrance GPS. In order to make this work you will require a MMSI (Mobile Marine Service Identities), this is free from Industry Canada. Go to this site and downlowd the application http://www.ccg-gcc.gc.ca/mcts-sctm/docs/mmsi/MMSI_e.htm You will also be required to have a radio operators licence (no station licence required). Check with the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron as to when and where their next classes will be held. John

  6. love the pics, been there done that with the quills. Years ago my schnauzer had an encounter with one, took a while to find and remove all quills. I find these incidents quite funny at times, the dogs never learn. Thanks for sharing
  7. Great report photos are really really neato Thanks for sharing your outing John
  8. If you are really concerned, when you bring the fish home, place it in your freezer in a standing postion, tail down. The next day simply cut the tail off! Remember most of you in Toronto and the GTA, drink the same water, your veggies are watered, your food cooked in the same water. No problems, eh!
  9. Try calling them at the information below, I'm sure they can repair the unit for you WALKER DOWNRIGGERS INC. 209 Side Street, P.O. Box 300, Stayner, Ontario, Canada L0M 1S0 Tel: (705) 428-4428 Fax: (705) 428-4424 E-mail: [email protected] Website: www.walkerdownriggers.com
  10. I totally disagree with this statement Pollywogg. Wether you commit an offence, you still have fundamental rights that have been upheld by the Supreme Court, these are the most important rights you have. Legal Rights Life, liberty and security of person 7. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice. Search or seizure 8. Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure Detention or imprisonment 9. Everyone has the right not to be arbitrarily detained or imprisoned. Arrest or detention 10. Everyone has the right on arrest or detention a) to be informed promptly of the reasons therefor; to retain and instruct counsel without delay and to be informed of that right; and c) to have the validity of the detention determined by way of habeas corpus and to be released if the detention is not lawful. The CO in this matter has NO LEGAL AUTHORITY to enter a dwelling on a "fishing expedition" The reason he does it and he knows full well that the people he targets are from away or out of towners and do not have the time or resources to return to Northwestern Ontario to fight the summons. We all loose. You also have to be aware that a violation under the fisheries act is a summary conviction and must be "found committing" in other words catching you in the act. Did you know that the CO can be sued for violations of your basic rights and freedoms. The Crown's office was very wise to withdraw these charges. Just my .02$ John
  11. It has been a number of years since my wife and I canoed the Saugeen River. I know it is a beautiful river to spend a day or several. Fishing is quite good. A few miles away in Walkerton, at the fishway, there is good fishing for migratory salmon, steelhead. You may want to consider bringing or buying a 9ft rod with 8# test mono. The bait of choice would be roe bags and flies, small spinners and spoons. I know there was a stocking program for brown trout a few years ago, but I don't know the outcome. If they were sucessful there should be some very large resident browns. Here is a site that I just found for you http://www.canadianangling.com/news.php I believe this site is based upon the Saugeen watershed. You could contact Grant Ferris at this web page http://www.greybruceoutdoors.com/, I know in the past Grant has been more than helpful to visitors to the Saugeen. Good luck and enjoy your stay. John

  20. Hi Roy, What type of pork do you have, shoulder, loin or ham? Here is a site that will help you step by step: These are recipes for doing a shoulder or "butt" http://virtualweberbullet.com/porkbuttselect.html http://virtualweberbullet.com/pork1.html http://virtualweberbullet.com/pork3.html http://virtualweberbullet.com/pork2.html This is for cooking a "loin" http://virtualweberbullet.com/porkloin1.html These recipes are designed for using a charcoal smoker, but I have used a gas smoker with great results. The main thing Roy, is low and slow, plan on spending at least 6-24 hours cooking this meat. The man who owns and runs the webpage is an engineering geek, therefore, all the precise times on his charts. All you have to remember is low heat 200-225 F and slow 6-24 hours John
