  7. I'm at a loss for words here Chris, what can I say that hasn't already been said. Those are fantastic looking rods, you are one fine craftsman. I know they will enjoy having their own personalize rods, Thanks to Lorne and Skiel for their generosity
  8. Those lanterns are indistructable, and will last you a lifetime. I have a couple of them, as well as a coleman white gas stove from my late in laws cottage. Everything works well, just a little time needed to pressurize the tanks. "Coleman fuel" is available everywhere. Enjoy your treasures. John
  9. Both are nice boats. All things being equal, I'd opt for the Princecraft. The Legend is going to come in a few thousand$$$$ more, because of the upgrade you will need for the power. John
  10. Congratulations to your daughter, and wish her all the best in her new life Have a great summer, look forward to hearing from you in the fall. John
  11. Where are all the Sens fans, terribly silent today, eh! When it came down to the crunch, the team was found wanting. A simple word of advice, do not come to the table, hat in hand and beg other fans to start cheering for your team, this must be a Canadian thing! For one thing, I won't change my team loyalty. That's it, my one and only hockey rant. No go fishing. John
  12. Joey, Please check this web page. http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/rib1.html My first ever ribs were cooked on a charcoal smoker using these guidelines. When you are ready to cook them, Fire up your gas grill use only one burner, (indierect cooking), bring the temp of the grill to 300*F. Place an aluminum drip pan under the grills on the cool side. (You can add your favorite liquid to the pan, beer, bourbon, wine, etc) Place ribs (bone side down) on cool side and CLOSE the lid. DO NO PEAK, cook for 2 hours. After 2 hours, wrap the ribs in HD foil,(pour a little flavoured liquid on the ribs) and return to the grill, CLOSE lid, and cook for an additional 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, remove from foil, and return to grill and firm up, about 45minutes to 1 hour. during the last 30 minutes brush on your favourite BBQ sauce. Remove from grill, place on platter and tent with foil, while you set the table, etc., cut into portions and serve. You can add additional sauce at this time, or place some sauce on the table and let your father put his own sauce on. If you want a smoke flavour, pick up a package of BBQ Delight smoke pellets, sugar maple or apple go nice with ribs. Follow the directions on the package, and you will add a delightful flavour. (You can mix the apple and sugar maple together for a unique smoke flavour) Enjoy. John
  13. Congratulations on the new ride. Patience and a cool head prevailed. Pleased to hear everythingworked out to your satisfaction. FISH ON!

Outstanding report and photo essay, thanks for sharing. It is always nice to see healthy slamon coming out of the lake, and some people practicing catch and keep. Those fish are excellent eating size and quality. A quality charter operator that will work his arse off for clients. A job well done Fishmaster John
  15. Great report Joey, again excellent photos, and a pretty decent salmon. That size would have been perfect in the smoker or BBQ thanks for sharing. John
  16. This is from Ted Reader's book, the art of Plank Grilling. (Book available at the Real Cdn Super Store, and comes with your first plank) 25 % off "SOAK'EM Soak plank in water or flavour/water liquid combination for a minimum 1 hour, weighing plank so it remains submerged. For best flaour and smoke results, I recommend 4 hours maximum. SMOKE 'EM Pre-heat grill to desired temperature with grill lid closed. Pre-heat plank on gril 3-5 minutes until it begins to crackle and smoke Season plank with coarse sea salt, herbs or planking spice* if desired (you don't have season the planks, and you don't have to pre-heat the planks, but both steps make for better planking results) 1. place food on plank 2.close grill lid 3. smoke'em up no flipping the food, no poking the food, keep peaking to a minimum. Be careful handling hot planks and food Season salmon or other meat to your liking with a home made rub or store bought. Cook salmon 12-15 minutes, until cooked to medium doneness or when salmon flakes slightly when pressed with a fork. EAT 'EM UP Remove planks from hot grill and set hot plank on presoaked raw plank. Transfer food to serving plates or platters. Discarge hot plank ina bucket of cold water and allow to fully cool while you enjoy." You can buy Ted Reader's spice blend at most Cdn Tire stores. or if you are adventurious you can make your own. I made my own and excellent on ribs. *Bone Dust Rub: 1/2 cup paprika 1/4 cup chilli powder 3 TBSP salt 2 TBSP ground coriander 2 TBSP garlic powder 2 TBSP granulated white sugar 2 TBSP mild curry powder 2 TBSP dry hot mustard powder 1 TBSP fresh ground black pepper 1 TBSP dried basil 1 TBSP dried thyme 1 TBSP ground cumin 1 TBSP cayenne pepper. *Planking Spice: 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1/4 cup coarsely ground pepper 1/4 cup Kosher or coarse sea salt 2 TBSP mustard seeds cracked 1 TBSP dill weed 1 TBSP dill seed 1 TBSP coriander seed 1 TBSP lemon pepper seasoning 3 TBSP granulated onion 2 tsp granulated garlic This planking spice can be used for any thing you are planking." Enjoy, John
