  7. You are OK. The piece of paper you have is the boat registration. These used to be issued by the Canadian Coast Guard, but has since been turned over to Service Canada. Keep it in your vessel whenever on the water. It is mandatory to have a copy of your registration in the boat should the OPP or other police service stop you while on the water. just JOHN

    Lawn Care

Thank you all for the replies. Just returned from the garden centre with a package of nematodes. Will be applying tomorrow during the rain we are expecting. TennesseeGuy, you can apply them in the spring, usually May and June as well as late summer August/September for best results. This according to many web sites I have visited while researching this alternative. Hopefully by next spring, my lawn will green up without those dreaded brown spots. Thanks again for your replies. just JOHN
  10. As most know, in 2009 the present Liberal Nanny state is going to ban the cosmetic use of pesticides. My area has had problems with white grubs, and chinch bug lava destroying lawns. This had been controlled by the use of a product called Merit, applied by a licenced lawn care tech. This chemical killed any and all crittes in the earth, including earth worms.I have spent several hours on the 'net researching the natural predator "nematodes" These critters appear to be the answer. I am now looking for board members who may have used them and had success. You may have a friend or relative, or neighbour who used these little critters and had success. Please don't dismiss this post off hand, if you can shed some more light it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you just JOHN

  13. I currently own a Legend 15 1/2ft with a 40hp 2 stroke. I am quite happy with the boat. The rivited hull is made by Smokercraft and finished in Legend's pland in Sudbury. Their welded hulls are made by Monark and again finally asembly/finish at their Sudbury plant. Both hull manufacturers sell their own versions of these boats. Yes the boats in the showroom appear to be underpowered, but a 25hp will move you along quite briskly if fishing is the plan. My first boat was a 14ft Starcarft with a 25hp, if I picked my days, Lake O salmon were within my reach. For fish & ski models, max hp is the way. The motor mfgs have perfected the two stroke technology, and IMO a four stroke will add a lot more weight to your boat. It really is a trade off with the price of gas today. You may save a few dollars per outing with a 4 stroke vs a 2 stroke, but your savings at purchase can go a long way to keeping your tanks full. Just John
