  1. These are all I've ever used. The 6" for filleting; the 4' for ribs (and cheeks on walleye); the 6" for skinning and the 4" for backbone removal. Keep them sharp and they work great.
  2. I use the recommend amount of Marine Grade Stabil with every fill.
  3. Great pics Simon. That was one heck of a storm. The wind had me fearing for my dock and it knocked the corn in my garden flat. Thank god we missed the tennis ball sized hail that SE Manitoba got out of that system. I didn't like the look of it on the horizon and had parked both our vehicles in our storage shed just in case.
  4. Way to go Simon. It gets easier from here on. The patch didn't bother me at night, but my wife couldn't sleep with hers on either. Keep it up. You will have no regrets.
  5. Could have been training for low altitude approaches for LAPES operations or any other number of testing or training programs.
  6. Mine's self explanatory.
  7. Way to go Jack. You'll be out fishing the old man in no time. Great photo's Simon.
  8. From the Ministry Regulations in regards to transporting fish. Just so you are aware. Transporting Sport Fish in Ontario It is contrary to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to stock or transport live sport fish without a permit. Anglers need to ensure they are transporting fish in compliance with the regulations, which are designed to protect fisheries resources.
  9. hawk-eye, you took the words right out of my mouth. Thanks for saying it. Glad to hear the officer is going to make a full recovery.
  10. My thoughts and prayers are with the officer and his family. Brave people doing a difficult job.

  12. Flame Red Original Hot n Tot. Works great around here.
  13. Hang in there Simon. My wife and I quit 15 years ago when the doctor told her she need to quit or she'd be carrying and oxygen bottle in 10 years time. We used the patch and it definitely helped. Every time you get a craving, just think of Jack. If not for yourself, he's the best reason to quit.
  14. Shopped around last year and the cheapest I found was Marine Experts. I have a 2008 16ft Crestliner Fish Hawk side console with a 2008 60 HP Merc 4 stroke. Complete coverage with taxes was $396.
  15. Sounds like a good idea and that your thinking in the right direction. Renting is a waste of money and a person can build wealth through property ownership. However, you need to look at all your numbers, insurance, mortgage, legal, utilities and maintenance and come up with a realistic projection of the cost. Your next thing is to access your ability to find steady and suitable tenants. You also need to have a contingency in place to deal with the possibility of being short of tenants at some point. With the cost of borrowing money still low and property prices in a bit of a slump, it would be good time to do this. You could build yourself a nice little bit of equity for your future, but you need to crunch all the numbers, access the risks, have plans in place as well as an exit strategy before making your move. Good luck.
  16. Canada Post who??? Oh right, that's that box of junk mail I clean out once a week. We do everything electronically or use Fed Ex. Won't impact myself at all.
  17. The Innova 3100 is a decent code reader, but will set you back about $200. The reader comes with a manual with all the generic codes, but you would also need to purchase a shop manual for your Focus to get a list of all your manufactures codes as well. You said it was diagnosed as the O2 Sensor, my question is which one. Your Focus has 2. A Pre Converter sensor and a Post Converter sensor. The Pre Converter sensor is very important as it interacts with PCM (Power Train Control Module/computer) and will adjust fuel mixture according to the reading it takes. So a bad or dirty Pre Converter sensor can lead to poor performance, poor gas mileage and can even lead to more serious problems such as polluting you converter if it causes a rich fuel mixture for a extended period of time. Converters are an expensive item to replace. The Post Converter sensor doesn't interact with the PCM and has no bearing on the cars performance. It is there to just measure the cars emissions and you can have a case where the emission are actually ok but the sensor is dirty or not functioning properly. Nothing to worry a lot about other than the damn Engine Light coming on all the time. As for O2 sensor error codes, there are many different codes and depending which code it's displaying, helps a person to diagnose if it's a problem further up the system (such as Bernie mentioned earlier) or whether the problem is with the sensor it's self. This said, if you have or are capable of developing a good understanding of power train control systems, a code reader can pay for it's self in a short time. Most shops charge $75 just for a scan and then there's the cost of the shop doing the repair as well, which can be considerably more than diagnosing and replacing the part yourself. But you better have a good understanding of how things work and what you are doing.
  18. Now I remember why I don't bother posting here too often, too many.
  19. If I'm not mistaken, they were made by ESKA and sold under various brand names through different retail chains. The info I have for the 7.5 HP ESKA shows it was made from 1970 to 1987 and used a Champion RJ14YC plug or a NGK XR5 plug gaped at .030". It is water cooled, even though the heads are finned like an air cooled. The water cools the leg and the lower portion of the cylinders and bearings. Info I have for it shows older 7.5's at 20:1 and newer at 50:1. The difference in these is probably due to the newer 2 stroke oils being better than the old oils. A mix of 40:1 should be safe with the newer oils.
  20. If time is short, head for Tobin Lake. If you have a bit more free time, head up North of Prince Albert to La Ronge. Lots of great fishing up there.
  21. Amazing how the pump price seems to move with the Future Market price. One could almost think there's a link.
  22. Flame Red and Gold Original Hot N Tot.
  23. If adjusting the idle screwdoes't make a difference , it may be a plugged pilot jet. You may need to remove the carb, take it apart, and give it a good cleaning by soaking in carb cleaner. Before reassembling, run some fine wire or heavy mono fishing line through the pilot jet to make sure it's clear.
  24. Well said. :good:
  25. Well Oggie, you definitely are a product of the 20th Century. As a former westerner, I could go back and dig up all sorts of issues and grievances that westerners could hold against eastern Canadians. The funny thing is that a lot of those jobs that were lost in the Alberta oil patch due to the National Energy Policy were held by easterners that had come west looking for work after the down turn in eastern Canadian manufacturing. I really thought that our country had move past this petty regionalism, but obviously there are hold outs.
