We've been using 20 lb PP for the last 3 years and have liked it. This spring, I loaded up our spools with 20 lb Suffix 832 with great anticipation. I heard that 832 was suppose to be even better. We suffered 3 trips with it and then we switched back to PP. The only thing we found better about Suffix 832 was, it cast quieter and farther/easier. On the negative side, it frayed easily, faded quickly and looped and twisted like crazy no matter what we tried. I might try PP Super Slick this year, but it will be only on one spool and I'm not getting my hopes up.

Bad for your converter and O2 sensors, don't do it. Replacement of these cost way more than saving 20 litres of gas. Dump some Marine grade Stabil in the tank and use it next year.

Nice one Simon. I'll have to pay a visit to that lake this year.

Your life and my life sound basically the same. I wouldn't trade it for anything. IMO it's the only way to live. Good luck with the trout.

Bass were shy, walleye not so much...it was hot as hell too.

Great shots again Simon. I had my 2 1/2 year old grandson out last week and we/he managed to hook his 1st walleye and plus a Northern and a Perch as well. It was the best time fishing I had in a long time. The look on his face was indescribable. All I got after that was regular requests from him to "go for a boat ride" and "go fishing". The 1st trip out was the funniest. Two minutes after pulling away from our dock, he turns to me and says "Wow that's a lot of water". -
The insurance company was a little slow at getting an adjuster on site to authorize temporary sheeting of the roof, but a call to the head claims manager in T.O. soon put a fire under their you know what. It think it set the mood for our future business relations quite well

Yes Simon. It was actually 2:30 am Sunday. Both the wife and I woke up to thunder and lightning and got up to close windows. The wind started up suddenly just as we were finishing closing up and it suddenly got very noisy and a banging started up. I looked out to see the 8x8 support posts lifting up and banging down about 6 " off the piles, then it stop and quieted down. Said to the wife that "boy that was a close call, maybe we should go get dressed and wait this out in bathroom" Just as we were about to do that the banging started up again and then a large bang and everything was gone. I though, "my god I hope it was just the porch roof". Then as it sheeted down rain it became quickly apparent that it was more than that. Spent the next few hours moving furniture, setting up buckets and trying to mop up as much water as possible. Our neighbors, 2 lots over also lost their roof and had their ceiling collapse on them in bed. Fortunately they weren't injured. Growing up on the prairies I've seen my share of funnel clouds, including the F5 at Elie. Mb., but this is the closest I've ever been to one. Thanks for the offer Simon, but the insurance boys have everything covered. The Service Master crew out of Dryden have been great to deal with and I'd highly recommend then to anyone in a similar situation.

Twisters are weird that way. We had a cast iron park bench down by the shore that got picked up a thrown 10 feet. The Picnic table near it wasn't even moved.

Yes it is Simon. I figure I won't be getting too much more bass fishing in this summer.

Actually the porch roof and house roof were separate structures and all the metal was fastened down by 2" screws.

oops, double post

This wasn't a 100 kph wind, it was a 100 mph wind (as confirmed by our neighbors weather station) in the form of a tornado. Not much will withstand that.
-
Yup. It kind of gets your attention quickly.

Near Dryden.

Sounds like it needs a good carb cleaning. The pilot circuit it the carb may be plugged.

You should try doing the soil test first. You need to take some core samples 0-6" and 6-12" and submit them to a soil test lab and request a conductivity test. They will be able to tell you if the problem is related to salinity. I know you stated that you haven't had this problem before, but if you've experienced lower than normal rain fall, the salt will rise to the surface into the root zone causing poor plant growth. A solution is to irrigate the area heavily with low salt containing water which will leach the salts back down the soil profile out of the root zone, but if you experience a dry spell again, the same problem will occur.

The water softner will increase the sodium levels in your water. The harder the water, the more sodium your gray water will contain. If this gray water is rising up through the soil profile, via capillary action, into the root zone, this increase in salinity could be causing the problem with the growth of your grass. A soil test could confirm this.

I've been filleting for a long time and started to use those knives in late 70's or early 80's. Since then I've never used anything else. I'm probably on my 3rd or 4th set now. Keep them sharp and you will be able to save almost all the meat and have no bones with practice.

I agree 100%. Bad enough on a calm day, add a bit of wind and it will drive you crazy. I've used it on a spinning outfit and had problems as well.

Roughly the same impression I had with it after a month of using it. I found it cast better than PP, color bleed was worse than PP, tangled way more than PP, never had any problem with random breakage. That said, I switched both the wife's and my rigs back to Power Pro the other day. The tangeling was driving us crazy. Been out 3 times with the PP and things have been way better.

How long does it take for a hook to rust out?
Old Man replied to coreyhkh's topic in General Discussion
While casting a crankbait off my dock this June, I snagged a pickerel rig that my nephew had lost last August. Everything was there except the hooks, not a sign of them. You could still see the knots in the line that they were tied to, but no trace of hook.
