  1. No net Pete...CPH wouldn't use it if I brought it...He likes to get right in there with the fish and use his hemostats...
  2. Hey...bear with me...I was 0 for 4 trips so far this season until this morning... Met up with Crappieperchhunter at Carp Point and so help me God...I just casted out and barely put my rod on it's holders when my buzzer went off!...In my haste I forgot to shut off the free spool and ended up with a massive birdsnest...fortunately the carp got loose or I would have ended up hand bombing it in...not easy with no gloves on...next one the hook pulled loose after a short battle...I know how Victor feels... After that it was all hookups and landings...in total four carp a 10, 12, 15, and an 18 pounder all unhooked while still in the water at the shoreline by my buddy CPH...Thanks again pal... Not sure how many Steve landed...four or five...of which two were mirrors but he had a way more hook-pulls or missed strikes than I did...Good times !!! BTW...whoever said forgetting the camera worked real good this morning.!!!
  3. I was invited to dinner at a Jewish couples place when I was a young lad after I had given them a ten pounder I had caught off the causeway at Lake Scugog... The lady had stuffed it (like a turkey) and baked it in the oven...tasted like fish to me !
  4. Well done Victor...glad to see you got into them...and got to watch the dragon boat races as bonus...I'm double sorry now that I couldn't make it but...my dock is fixed...
  5. And swimming Garry...don't forget the swimming...!!!
  6. (Meely, Buckster, Meely's cousin Rick and Son, Crappieperchhunter and me) came to my rescue again this year to help me straighten out my dock and repair the damage that the ice and high waters did this spring...don't know what I would do without you guys...thanks very much again...with all the joking and laughing it amazes me that we get the work done... I hope you enjoyed the burgers !!! Wont be long now till the "Tin" gets her bottom wet
  7. Not on my limited budget Lorne...this was in lieu of not going to Lakair this year... The only thing I'm lacking is a package of boilies...mice ate mine over the winter...
  8. At the time the picture was taken...the rod was doing it's thing down at the shoreline...resting on it's bank stix and buzzer...when travelling the rod lays on top of the folded down brolly on the cart...
  9. Nope...not a boat (I wish) but a handy dandy garden cart to pull my carp equipment back and forth to some of the "swims" we fish... just have to find a license plate with "Beansmobile" on it... It worked out better than I thought...the top of the OFC stickered pails worked swell as a table for retying, baiting, or having lunch...just the right height when sitting on my stool... Sorry no pics of fish...I did net one of his eight for an English bloke... Cph landed 4 and had a hook pull-out on another 0 for 3 for me so far this season...
  10. Loblaws advertises "pickerel fillets" and from the skin they are definetely pickerel (walleye)...
  11. [quote name='GCD' date='Jun 10 2009, I have to drink a gallon and a half of ice water during the day OH NO DAWG !!! say it isn't so...you mean straight water with nuttin' in it but ice? Don't you know fish have sex in water...Cripes son ...you gonna rust inside
  12. NO Bananas allowed...Eh Dawg ?...
  13. Aw Shucks !!!...t'wern't nuttin'...(rubs toe in sand) it really wern't nuttin' on my part...
  14. Try googling "D.A.M. Fishing Tackle" and it should show some suppliers... http://www.wackerbaits.com/sf/index1.html
  15. Before I was given a Okuma baitrunner reel I used a Zebco saltwater reel with a rear drag for fishing for carp...I would cast out...set the drag to #9 (lightest) then during the initial run I would adjust the drag to #4 on the dial...worked great !
  16. Sure, like Spiel sez... Come and join us carpers !!!
  17. I read that holding a bass by the lower jaw in a vertical hold can sometimes break their jaw !!!
  18. D.A.M. sells a 2 hair rig pkg for $1.99... Crappieperchhunter and I figured out it is cheaper to buy these than tie my own what with the cost of flurocarbon leader material, a good carp hook. and a good swivel...my only complaint is the way they package them...you gotta be real careful separating the two pieces or end up with a knot...
  19. Every once in a while I like to use this recipe... Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. 1/2 cup of salsa 1/4 cup of white table wine 1 tbs soy suace 1 tbs worcestshire sauce 2 tbs lemon juice (1 lemon) Mix all ingredients together then pour over thawed fillets (any white fish...salt or fresh water) in an oven proof dish...bake uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes depending on thickness of fillets...serve with rice and a vegetable I tried this with black drum fillets down in Florida...I wrapped everything in foil wrap and did them on the BBQ...turned out great...even my step-daughter liked it and she hates fish... Lots of recipes available if you use the OFC search engine...Type in "recipes"
  20. GOLF ain't SWINGING...but both can be done by twosomes or foursomes...
  21. Welcome back Rich...was wonderin' where you was...swell report...
  22. After 2 hours of shivering and shaking from the below normal temps and gale force winds this morning, we agreed that our first thoughts of it being too early for carp fishing in the Kawarthas were correct... We like a chop on the water but today's whitecaps were ridiculous...but...we will probably be back at it next weekend...
  23. Catching this morning was not to be...the cold front gave the carp lock-jaw I think...not a total loss though as we seen several stick their heads out to check the weather so we know they are in the area...hoping today's chumming will bring some in for tomorrow morning...this is the earliest we have tried in the spring...last year it wasn't 'till Father's Day weekend...
  24. Crappieperchhunter and I are about to find out if it is too early yet for Kawartha carp this morning... Seems like forever since we heard the sound of my buzzer going off or our drags screaming...music to our ears...
  25. Kudos to Lorne (hammercarp) for posting this over on the CAG site
