  1. Thanks for a straight answer... And if they were kept for food then I have no quarrel with that...
  2. What in the world do you do with that big mess of carp ??? We release all we catch...right after we land them...
  3. The one big thing that I have noticed is that I have never met an OFNer that I didn't like...mind you... There are some I'm not in a hurry to meet...!!!
  4. Sorry 'bout that Chief !!! My memory is not much better...I know it was 28 December 2002 (I keep old calanders)that I met Big Cliff in living colour up at Airport Road to go icefishing so I joined OFC well before that...actually...I got an e-mail from Mikeo inviting me to the 2nd Lakair M&G so it must have been early 2002... Met Jack and Jackie in person on the 16th September 2002 at Tim Horton's in Lindsay...He had a tin of pork and beans on the roof of his vehicle for identifiaction purposes...we had been corresponding via e-mail since way back in our Bill Dance fishing board days... I was made aware of OFC from the old Simcoe board when I had a Kawartha Lakes question...
  5. Ya Jer...just think of all the poaching (or thoughts of...)that would have been taking place if they hadn't made the changes... Great report...
  6. DANG !!! Just drove past there on Tuesday on my way back from the hospital...one of the few places that carries carp equipment... Now I need an excuse to drive down there this weekend...Maybe some good buys in the NO FRILLS flyer for next week...
  7. So...That is what I have been doin' wrong...wearin' the wrong damn hats...OFC and FORD Racin'... Will have to wear my Faux Farm one this afternoon to see if'n that makes a difference... Nice to see a fishin' report from you Carole...
  8. It's been a few years now since I've fished Couchiching Beach Park but have had good luck for perch off the cement pier down by the statue (Champlain?)...I never tried for crappie off the boat docks but they used to let the public fish off them during the festival...then there is also the fishing pier (no boats allowed to dock) outside of the Harbour Master building... give 'er a try...
  9. I saw a feature on TV that showed that McD uses some kind of Australian "trash" fish in their Fillet O' Fish...had a face on it like a mackeral...Go figure !!!
  10. It's too bad that McDonalds can't use bluegill/sunfish in their Fillet O' Fish sandwich... A breaded bluegill/sunfish fillet is just the right size for a hamburger bun...some lettuce and Heinz tarter sauce...YYYUUUMMMM
  11. Sorry to hear this Lew...Good that she was not injured...we have had close calls with deer ourselves...just one of those things living the good life in the country...seen any bears yet ???
  12. I do believe those"spots by the highway" (causeway) are part of a fish sanctuary until the second Saturday of May... Nice way to get a guy suckered into a ticket...
  13. I wonder how much a cooler full of crappies sells for...My bro-in-law and I stopped giving away the ones we caught at Sandercock's Camp when we found out they were selling them a few years ago... I guess having someone pick-up the coolers and dropping off empty ones is a way of trying to get around the 30 crappie limit... Damn the MNR for inconveniencing them like that...
  14. It's blowing hard up here... I was just outside to see my bro & sis in-law off... Put the umbrella on the back patio down before it takes off...
  15. I hope Sue hosed you two down before she let you in the house... Good stuff my friend... I'm off to meet up with Jack this morning...(you know where)
  16. Tell Rick Beans said to take a break from the upgrades and to take you fishing... We can wait for the upgrades some other time but you can't always go fishing...
  17. 142,000 kms...Cripes bye...she's hardley broken in... My '95 F150 just rolled over 400,000 kms so you gots lots left in her... I do think a boat is in order...still waiting to get out with you to stick a tube in front of your Simcoe smallies...
  18. Hey Skeeter...you're right you know...he was lucky the ice was there and the OPP wern't...no ice left today...
  19. After taking a couple of pics (see going...going...going...GONE !) on this beauty of a day the good Lord has given us, I wet a line for half an hour but it was too windy to notice any bites so I wandered home and baked some sole fillets with some pan fries for supper.

    ONWARD

Atta boy Pete...Keep at it ! It's well worth it... I found not smoking(24 years this July) harder to shake than booze (38 years this May) but I used the same mindset for not smoking as I did for not drinking... "Nothing, absolutely Nothing is worth taking a drink/cigarette... Nothing so grand, so glorius, so great is worth it to celebrate... Nor nothing so sad, so bad, so tragic is worth it to get over the grief" Just a little sumpin' I heard in my early days of quitting that stuck with me...
  23. Was down by the lake to see if the ice was out (not yet) but lots of ducks where there was open water and this guy cruisin' along the edge of the ice...
  24. I'm in at # 26...
  25. Ya Shane...last year the water was up to the top of our dock at the launch...today it is two feet below that...The waterway guys really lowered it a lot last fall... Looks like I won't have to call on the Kawartha Dock Repair Comittee (Buckster, Meely and Crappieperchhunter) this year to fix any damage from the ice leaving our lagoon...she's all clear to the end... I could launch the "Tin of Beans" in the lagoon but the entrance to the lake is still ice bound...
