  1. Just watched the local news which reported a Bass boat caught fire out from Bewdely, and pics showed that it was totalled, luckely 3 people on board made it to shore safely, problem was apparently with the injectors
  2. You can get Lowrance and Eagle, and see water depts you never thought existed, mine finds me holes in Rice Lake that are 382 feet, just 50ft out from the Hiawatha Launch, I never new weeds could grow 382ft
  3. Seen 2 pairs of spawning fish a week ago, early in the year muskies are notorious for having a real liking to reeds, I would fish those, and then fish both wood and weed flats as well, working my way to the weed edge, chemong is also a great lake for inside weed edges, which are often over-looked by anglers, start shallow and work your way out to deeper water
  4. Had me worried I thought my picture was going to appear, what a relief
  5. Has anyone launched out of the Hiawatha launch, it was damaged when the ice went out just wondered if it has been repaired and is launchable
  6. Were really late im still using Rapala ice fishing jigs in the river actually were about 2 weeks behind, but my dandelions are catching up real quick
  7. My tackle shop in my basement, if what I need is not their I will make it or build it, ie just poured 300 tube jigs and 300 ripping jigs on high end owner flip n pitch hooks, plus I have 300 rippers tied as well, just finished 5 deep diving shad style musky baits, with aluminum diving lips and 5 jerkbaits in the same shad style all made out of cedar, with 4 coats of envirotex, most of my tackle including steelhead jigs and flies are made during the winter months, as well as the odd rod build as well, winters go by reel quick when your busy, 2 other favorite places to shop are luremaking.com where a good portion of my supplies come from, and ebay where I can buy and sell as well.
  8. My favorite tackle shop is ebay for buying and selling
  9. As solo mentioned they did not send you the wrong cork, they do not make pre-formed cork arbours for each reel seat that they carry, its an easy fix with minimal sanding, be creative and think before you sand
  10. Change the locks Mike, the same thing happened to my cousin, where his wife left him and 2 kids, after cooking a great supper the night before as if nothin was out of character, she left the kids health cards on the table and when my cousin was at work and tyhe kids at school, in came the movers and out went the furniture, he changed the locks immediately and there was no issues with the law, booby trap the house with some of your handlebarz so he gets a hook in his hand or arse if he shows up
  11. Ron only a 5 hour drive, thats just a short sprint for you, go 10 minutes west the the big G and catch some steelhead
  12. There is only one great person named Iggy, and he has the last name Pop aka Iggy Pop and the three stooges who called the election should be made to pay the 300 to 400 million for it as well
  13. You helped bail them out they should be kissin yer
  14. If its the one I heard it was 3 fisherman with a load of crappie most of which were slabs in the 14 to 15.6 inch range, none were smaller then 12 inches, and had 45 over their limit, the Ranger boat and tow vehicle they kept every thing else was confiscated, the fish as well, well done MNR, and the CO who I will not disclose, the COs are spread so thin, and this came from a call in from a marina owner, other wise they likely would have never been caught, the number of walleye caught out of season by people with shoreline or lake front property would asstound you, when they spawn on shorelines. Hats off to the marina operator as well who I will not disclose
  15. I use 80lb Tuff Line XP, or 80lb BPS Braid for my main line, for topwaters I use 130lb Triline leader line which is more flexible and more supple than Floro, every bit as tough as floro, and you get tens times the amount of line for a quarter of the price, I also use that leader material for trolling leaders as well,
  16. I use owner flipping jig hooks on my walleye jigs for weed fishing, the eye comes out on a 30 degree angle, and I custom made my mold to take those hooks, they are tough, and extremely sharpe, and they pull through weeds like a knife through butter, I also use the same hooks for my tube jigs as well, they are expensive, and if im fishin rocks etc I will use mustad ultra-points instead
  17. I did not know John F personally, but enjoyed his posts immencely, sure wish I had the chance to talk to him one on one, as some of you have had the honour, a great loss to all, my deepest sympathy and condolences to Johns family
  18. You should have been fishin under the CNR at the Ganny and casting North, the CO,s never charge anyone for doing that
  19. Now I know where her volunteering came from, now show her how to catch fish Ron.
  20. Any word on numbers over as of what day?
  21. Go to Smarts marina at the south end of the lake you will drive by it to get to the park, they will have a lake map which will be a good starting point, the north end is the deepest part of the lake, and just out from the paintings on the cliffs is over 500ft, the is good smallie fishing, thru the gap on the north side and on the south west shore line, and on the south side, just north of the marina(smarts) their is a sandbar, that drops off into deeper water, with smallies, and big walleye at night, also the west shoreline on the south side is worth a look as well for smallies and walleyes, also caught lakers their as well, about 10 to 15 ft deeper than the walleyes, in 40ft of water, walleyes were 20 to 25ft, it will change each year as we have camped there 5 times and fishing can be tough if its a typical warm August, the best part is smarts ice cream, and the bald rock on the north side of the gap, with the double-breasted bed thrashers on it topless of course, theve been their 4 out of 5 times, so your odds are in your favor.
  22. Do you have the new issue, the one with the OFAH news for their members where the OFAH does not support a 2 fish Steelhead limit in Zone 20 (Lake Ontario) because of lack of scientific evidence, maybe if they walked some steelhead creeks while their looking for cormorants or wolves, they would see the decline for themselves, but the creeks are unfortunately not wheel chair accessible and the OFAH is essentially and old boys and old girls club
  23. Bud who fixed and maintained reels for shimano for years, and could service them with his eyes closed, I know I seen him do it has left shimano unfortunately
  24. Your right their Ron, unless they discredit enough Canadian fish, that it finally ends up back in Wisconsin, where they want it in the first place, Martin Williamsons will be next, and then mine after that
  25. delivering the first batch of ultra lites eh, if im not home ill leave the door open you should make it in about 5 hours, cold beer peporettes and jerky are in the fridge, dont touch the walleye or bluegill fillets they look great MP
