fishing mazinaw lake and lakes souroundings.
esoxansteel replied to codered's topic in General Discussion
Kashawakimak just south of Maz would be a good bet for eyes, as well as Maz in itself, never fished Maz early in the season, but mid summer, and 20 pound braid with Tail Dancers purpledecent caught both eyes and the occasional Laker in the same areas -

Changes Proposed to the Walleye Fishery on Lake Scugog
esoxansteel replied to pooch's topic in General Discussion
Seen several models of plans for the Bog, from closing it for walleye period, to closing it in winter, and closing it in summer as well, closing it altogether for a period of at least 10 years was going to make the largest difference, but it would not allow the rebound that one would expect for a 10 year entire closer of the walleye fishery, environmental factors play the largest part from invasives, to fluctuating water levels during the spawn, climate changes etc. Sinker and Garnet have it right, where given time mother nature will level things out, which has already happened in Rice, Sturgeon, and more recently the Tri Lakes, I would assume Scugog will follow suite, as it already has started to show some recruitment, -
Everyone needs to share a boat with one of the Fergus Boys, security will be looked after

The only time you will see a bunch of CO's in Peterborough, is when they have their G2Gs at the Holiday Inn on the tax payers tab, there is usually about 12 to 15 enforcement vehicles there, when there are boardrooms up the road in the MNR office are sitting empty and would do just fine. These G2Gs usually happens frequently during the summer months possibly monthly As for the MNR saying their probably Natives, that is an insult to every aboriginal, and government stereo typing at its finest, that's just an excuse for them not to not investigate, BTW Native Treaty rights are a Federal issue, and will trump the Provincial fishing regulations every time in court, and if the government hasn't the time, the care or the balls to investigate the disappearance of over 1400 indigenous women, the last thing they want to do is ruffle the feathers of signed Treaty rights.

Made some river floats. (Test results added)
esoxansteel replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
Are you using one piece for the stem, which can sometimes be hard to drill through both centers, at the top and bottom or using 2 pieces, which is much easier to drill into both centers, drilling halfway or almost to the halfway point and gluing both pieces into the float body. The latter is much easier, and centers well -
Pete might want it back now, good for another 50 years

Lake O likely Shane, launches there are open, Chemong still locked, open on both sides of the causeway, on the Northside up to about the Dutch Marina, and on the southside about 1/3rd of the way to the lighthouse on the east side, open along the perimeter of the causeway, warm temps and big winds can change things quickly, K Lake water levels are way down -
Went for a short drive to check out 2 spots I fish for Gills and Crappies, both were mud, with no water what so ever, even the creek arm that dumps into it wasn't flowing, and im off tomorrow so I guess I will be tying softball size roebags with 8 rattles per bag LOL, unless I can find some clear lake water, wait 50 to 80 km winds, not very likely

Scotsman Point on Buckhorn, Musky Bay Resort on Rice Lake, and a few others have recently sold, as well as one on the east side of Balsam as well, not that it matters but it appears to be a draw for Orientals as well, as the Asian economy is very strong, and the money is there to buy these very very pricey resorts.

pm me i have lots of baits to hook you up, i can send you pics via email of stuff i have ie lots of buctails if thats your thing, plus glides cranks jerks etc and top water too, and if you into a real challenge flies on a 10 11 or 12 weight fly rod, I just have to go through a couple of Lakewoods, might even have a couple of Hooker Jr.s let me know what you prefer to throw and yes 80 to 100 pound braid will do just fine, -
Ive had real pro-staffers tell me that their sponsors split-grip rods with either EVA foam, or cork are more sensitive, and weigh less, when foam is cheaper then cork, and less rings on a split-grip means money savings for the manufactiurer, those are the real reasons for foam, and cork split-grips nothing else but saving dollars, and not turning those savings to the consumer.
