  1. The type of fella you spend lots of time and never be bored, a true gentlemans gentleman, and you and you son obviously touched a warm spot with the gentlemen as well,
  2. With the warmer water temps, and metabolism sped up 2.2 to 2.5 sounds fine for me trolling for eyes, in fact ill do that on opener, when water temps are just on the north side of 60 degrees, right now im even close to 3mph, with cranks, with harnesses im slower and use my Terrova, and bounce around the 1.3 to 1.8 depending on wind etc
  3. Try Sail first if it is close by, and you have the original receipt, your return time will be faster if they do an over the counter exchange
  4. Awesome report, and wildlife photography at its finest,
  5. There is a possibility it could in fact clot, remember the fish fighting is under stress, and the heart will pump blood more profusely, once back in its environemnt, and the stress or lactic acid buildup slows, clotting can and will occur, and Bass are one of the species where this can happen, hopefully will be fine
  6. 8 and 5 years old is a bit of a difference in the batteries age, and the number of times each has been cycled or charged, I try to keep my batteries the same age or within a year of each, as recommended by a battery guy, could be a dead cell in one of the batteries, with 24 volts, ive gone 8 years with each battery providing they are the same age, and they are maintained and charged after each trip with an onboard charger charging each battery at the same time with the same
  7. Lake Champlaine is also another one of those interesting fisheries that sports Landlocks as well New Brunswicks St John river is also another one, that sports muskies and some very large ones, with abnormally large girths, and also Atlantics, and ironically the Atlantics DO NOT make up a very large portion of the muskies diet in that river considering the massive girths of some of these fish, Odd ball fisheries are unique and interesting
  8. Yes there are Landlocks (Atlantics) in Trout Lake, they were stocked many years ago, and apparently were restocked again after a spill in Mink Creek which feeds into Trout Lake.
  9. Win the lottery Big Cliff and your not telling us
  10. Cabbage is a great weed, and holds up till at least late September, I think Manjo is likely referring to Pond Weed, which is the start up weed in the spring and is starting to die off the past week, both weeds hold walleye, and actually when the pond weed starts to die, it usually forces walleyes to the remaining live pondweed, and actually bunches or concentrates them on the remaining green weed, Shad raps and jigs, on the edge in early low lite hours, and then jigs bucktails in the heavy stuff once the sun appears, the walleyes will tell you whether they want the jig ripped, or subtle
  11. I new there been a use for the old easy bake oven, nainimo bars are the best
  12. Nice musky Mike, thick and clean, for just completing spawning not too long ago, how long were the fillets on that one Just kiddin
  13. Al Linder once said that people actually harvest panfish referring to crappies before they ever reach there maximum growth, so those genetics are there but they are harvested before we ever see the real potential, especially now, as big Bluegills those plate sized ones were common in the early years because no one really targeted them, opting for the plentiful Walleye, in many watgers these are gone, and 7 inchers are big ones now,
  14. Id call it a firemans cradle, oh I forgot, retired firemans cradle
  15. Throwing big streamer flies, with Icelandic sheep hair, and lots of hackle and flashaboo 8 to 10 inches on a weight forward floating line 10wt, and the other setup will be a full running line on a 525 grain Skagit head for the long bomb into the reeds
  16. I like Drifters comment about them not tranquilizing cause it takes too long for them to go nighty night, ive got some cookies that ill knock the big bruin on his ass in 5 minutes
  17. Andy Donato's comic in the SUN, said it best today regarding the shot Bear It said Thanks for calling the MNR, if you are having a problem with a nuisance animal are hours of operation are 9am till 5pm, after hours please call the police and they will come out and shoot it. So sad but true. Same thing happened in Peterborough a few back where the MNR office is, and the cops still had to come out and shoot the harmless Bear, which was 5 minutes away from the office, Also happened with a Turkey at the junction of the Hwy 115 and Hwy 28, again the OPP's shot the turkey as it was on the side of the road getting gravel, and they thought the Turkey would be a distraction for drivers. Im sure it happens all over
  18. no issues in putting it in the F 150 Lew, used to put a litre of non detergent oil in my 70 GTX on occasion with a fill up, as well as my 1979 Magnum GT, was told by my father who used to put oil in those old HEMI's 392s and 354s I believe that it freed things up ie valves rings etc never did either of us any harm
  19. They only count when their on a fly rod, and there jibs full of hair and hackle 44 1/2 by 19 with no pinch on the fly last day of the season Dec 15th 2014 on a 11 wt Conventional way 52 1/2 no pinch on Stoney Lake North end
  20. Jack and Mary Penny would be proud, Great read as usual, might just have to go and tie some esox flies after that read kinda pumped a bit
  21. My sense of humour or lack there of was the same as Sneak e Petes, so don't feel bad Sneak I read it the same way you did, but I have a right to be less then amused ive battled 2 1/2 foot to 3 foot waves all week, and am a little beaten up trying to achieve and maintain boat control to catch some eye balls. Even pulled an all nighter to try and avoid the big winds, but that didn't work either, 17 foot boat moved 3 feet sideways when I came off the mouth of the Indian River, with the wind gust
  22. Fished a Bass tournament at Scugog, many years ago, with all the big boats an motors, etc, and 2 guys rented a boat off Goreskis, and had a garbage pail for a live well, that was OKed by the tournament officials, and workerd very well to say the least as they weighed in just over 20 pounds and won the tourney by almost 5 pounds, all fish were caught from the mouth of the Nonquon, and they got 4000.00 for their troubles more then enough to pay for the one day rental,
  23. Natures beauty, love Sturgeon
  24. fished Monday landed 9 and 4 of those fish were on a gammie stinger hook tied to the back of the bucktail, via 30 pound power pro, all fish were caught on hair, on both 1/8ths and 1/4s, that was my maiden voyage, as I fish steelhead up to that point, but am off next week water temp was 64.7 when I put in, and 66.2 when I pulled out. most of the fish were upper end in the slot skinnies, 18 to 19 inch fish, with 2 under, and 2 over
