  1. im guessing there is a lot of pointy rocks, and extremely shallow humps around there? sounds like a paradise wrapped in danger. i was thinking about hitting it this summer. assuming there are channel markers you guys would recommend being as center to them as possible, keeping slow and steady throughout?
  2. we can be, but it's all in good fun.. and yes im definitely on a hit list or 5.. one day they are gonna get me bad.
  3. my uncle uses this one.. works pretty good! http://www.ehow.com/how_4679769_homemade-minnow-trap.html
  4. i've pulled off some horrible pranks in my day, some things i may even be condemned to hell for lol. -instead of rum and coke. rum and laxative with a little coke. -pop rocks instead of bacon bits in the chicken ceasar salad. -releasing half a dozen sheep into someones cottage -3 gardener snakes in a tent -a pike in the sleeping bag -i wont go into to detail but we once convinced 2 of our male buds they slept together. this was done with an obscene amount of alcohol, and some tabasco sauce. LOL! -plug in the gas line on the boat the list goes on.. they have come after me a few times unsuccessfully but im waiting for it.. one day, paybacks gonna be big! LOL
  5. i think all we got are the long nose and spotted gar (altho this could be the same fish, i've just heard the reference to spotted before.. i may be wrong as im no expert and the long are the only ones i've caught.. lol wish we had the gator gar here.. imagine hooking into one of those things on a fly rod
  6. dogs with bee's in their mouths and when they bark they shoot bee's?
  7. hahahaha you were clearly targeting bass with that lure.. yep.. 100% no if's and's or buts about it.. maybe you should have used something a foot longer to look less conspicuous tho.. i mean that's definitely a lure one would catch consistent bass on..
  8. yeah its just a name.. whether you say "gar" or "gar pike" most everyone knows your talking about the long nose.
  9. theres tastier fish out there than bass anyways.. bah!
  10. i cant spell today.. fixed.. lol
  11. hey brian.. you most likely didn't do it years ago cause it wasn't required for smaller vessels. im sure its the standard 3-6 weeks the ontario gvmt says, so expect it in about 4 months lol..
  12. lol "gas money" anyways no luck at bass pro.. none of those guys knew what i was talking about.. i asked them if anyone could get a job there and left.. lol at one point i asked to be pointed towards someone who could tell me and they pointed to some guy who barley knew to speak english.
  13. good point.. that would blow! i've looked over the regs before and i never saw anything in there about that but im sure that if a warden wanted to he could give out a charge simply based on the fact that you are just catching an OOS fish. even if you are fishing for something else entirely. catching the OOS species more than a few times could give him a loop hole to charge you with if he wanted to i suppose.
  14. mmm sounds good.. i wonder if i'll have to pay more for extra McDirt sauce..
  15. dan i dont believe bassman was at all trying to be rude about it. he's a nice guy.. you know that the written word has no emotion behind it unless you put emoticons right beside it lol.
  16. agreed. you don't wanna stress them out while they are spawning, could damage the fishery, and land your self in hot water even if you aren't keeping them.. 1 or 2 fine but when you start landing more than that your kinda just asking for it lol. pick a different spot, or use bigger spoon's and what not just to avoid them (hopefully). EDIT: damn i cant spell today.
  17. are you looking for something portable that you can carry around or mount to the boat for more permanent fixture? i use a humminbird pirahnamax 160, its got a dual beam, and im happy with it cause i can take it with me anywhere.. ice fishing, diff boats, ect.. it costed 161.00 at bass pro. if your looking for something more extravagant you could always go with the sonar/gps combo.. can go from around the 400-1000 range.. skies the limit when it comes to marine electronics lol. check the bass pro website or even kajiji listings for used ones if you would like to save some money.
  18. i dont think it would be hard to put together a magnetic strip alarm rigged to a car alarm receiver.. lol you just gave me an idea..
  19. im going today, i'll let you know.
