  1. That bass action shot is great! Great year.
  2. I'm sure some of you already know of this, but the Environmental Registry is a Government site that posts proposals and decisions for all things environmental. For example water taking permits, air emissions, dam building etc etc. It allows the public to comment on things that they may not agree with. It's a good way of holding companies with bad track records or with possibly intrusive proposals, including government amendments accountable and in check. Let's say some company is planning on storing waste at a facility near your house....you can send a comment or question like "will they be collection groundwater samples" or, "will they ensure that odours will not be emitted" to a Ministry which will investigate and/or force amendments to the proposal. I'm not peddling anything specific here, it's a public service and may be of interest to those who like reading these things. Makes for good lunchtime reading when you've already read everything on OFC. My link
  3. There goes all of Alberta's lakes and Rivers Many watersheds are not bound by provincial borders...
  4. Hahaha can't a guy turn a catchy phrase without being called out A lot of rivers and lakes are now exposed to development.... I'm guessing the next step is to sell valuable crown land or increase township sizes.
  5. Hey, I guess I'm doing pretty good for a blind fisherman! I'd consider one, but it's not on my priority list for now.
  6. Yup. Sad stuff. Trading green for green
  7. A fantastic fishing year nearly in the books! You still fishing rivers right now?
  8. I'm the only one with blue jigs. I bought some a Gramps with silver flecks and they've done really well. Very unique color combos with blue jig heads... And don't fish see blue really well?
  9. Awesome! Was that from simcoe? We get some massive specimens from nip each year too. I know Joey says fantstic eating, but I'd consider it closer to "decent". Haha sorry Joey
  10. You've read my mind! I'll be checking out the ice this weekend... Can't wait!
  11. If things go as I wish them to go, I'll be ice fishing in the south shore area.
  12. I'm in the same boat with the company gas card, except I usually go to shell...don't know why, I just do. Free gas is nice enough...points are just a bonus! something like 20 000 points will get you $100 at CT! That's a nice wad of cash I see tipups and winter boots in your future
  13. Good point My air miles are going to be used to take Wifey and me to Nova Scotia to visit family and maybe try some east coast fishing. The Air Miles program is especially a rip off for gift cards/cash.
  14. Absolutely It's comparable to me cleaning the microwave yesterday...I don't really care if it's clean or not.
  15. Just wondering what other people are doing to collect reward points and turn them into fishing gear. I sometimes travel and stay in hotels for work and I found that the Wyndham program is the best for gift certificates. Basically 7 stays, plus promotional items and I got a $100 Canadian Tire gift certificate! Not a bad deal considering I also get my Air Miles points through my AMEX. Air Miles is the worst for gift certificates/cash. 95 points gets you $10 cash... but it would take over $1500 in gas to get that 95!! Air miles only good for travel. Aeroplan is ok for Gift Certificates as well. I got a $100 to Home Hardware (which sells fishing gear in NBay) after a few flights and car rentals. This $100 CTire gift card is probably going towards a winter jacket. FREEEEE
  16. A hooky day trip just outside of fort mcmurray catching several +10lbs pike including one that must have been +25lbs all on 6lbs test. Between the huge pike we caught walleye after walleye after walleye after... All caught on homemade spinners too.
  17. That thing must have to fart REAL bad Husky musky! Great catch
  18. Rained yesterday, +4 today and +8 tomorrow. I actually went back to the same spot yesterday and the ice had not changed much, even after the rain we had...but I certainly didn't wander around looking for trouble. I'm gonna guess that as long as we get some good freezing temps after this warm spell and we don't get too much snow, that the small lakes will keep some of their current ice and actually lock up nicely. Of course my fingers are crossed!
  19. Nipissing can be like that when the bite is on. Honestly, it's still my favorite place to fish just because I can drive around on safe (at least I consider it) ice and the snow cover is typically blow away due to the lakes' size. Winter please!!!
  20. I recall your presence... Welcome back and best of luck getting the gf into fishing.
  21. Fantastic landscape and fish! You are lucky to have experienced it.
  22. I don't take all science as hard truth, I accept that theories somethimes evolve as research, education and technology advances. You believe the 6000 year old thing and I'm the one who's gullible? I don't have the time or qualifications to go through your list... Sorry.
