If everyone actually reads and reviews the information posted, you will see that this is good public transparency and gives everyone a chance to voice their opinions to the people who will (should) actuallly use your opinions to make changes. This is the step that everyone says in hindsight they should have spoken up. I'm neither for it or against it, I believe I could actually register as an Algonquin. I don't think half of what you see or read will actually make it to law

Keep in mind that this is only an Agreement-in-principle potentially going up for Ratification by the Algonquins in 2013. From the document: "Upon a successful Algonquin ratification vote, the final draft Agreement-in-Principle would be submitted to the Governments of Ontario and Canada for approval. Following such approval and signature, the Agreement-in-Principle would be a non-binding statement of the main elements of a settlement of the Algonquin Land Claim that would form the framework for future negotiations towards a Final Agreement. Negotiations leading to a Final Agreement could then begin. A Final Agreement would also need to be approved by the Algonquin of Ontario and by the Legislature of Ontario and the Parliament of Canada." Basically, this is the review process for the framework of the final proposal, with no set date. Lots of paperwork before this one gets completed. Now is the time to send in your comments to the negotiation teams... no matter where you stand on this issue.

Worst countdown ever Randy haha Fact is, IF this proposal passes, probably not exactly as proposed, these lands will be fully in the Algonquin's control. In the proposal's document, "Canada and Ontario will be transferring land". Roads and some parks and publicly used areas will likely stay the same, but they will have sole jurisdiction over their land. It'll essentially be a country within a country. Interesting stuff. Like Dan said, if this concerns you, read the executive summary and review the maps. http://www.aboriginalaffairs.gov.on.ca/english/negotiate/algonquin/preliminary-draft-aip.asp

Seems yes. All utilities and right of ways also will have to pay the self-governing band. They would fully control the lands. Public parks and designated areas will remain public use.It would be a full transfer of land from Canada/Ontario to the Algonquins.

Its ok. Less work to just answer here. I've only owned the quickfish for a couple weeks, so my reliability test iisnt complete. Also, I've never used a Clam pop up so I can't compare. On the other hand, I get feeling that Luc and I have a good compparison test in the making because we will be fishing in the same climate, we fish nearly the same amount and from the sounds of it we might be just as hard on equipment. Clam vs Eskimo... Luc vs Chad haha

Same goes for the eskimo quickfish2. Super eaasy to setup and haul around.

Thanks again everyone! Luc: Nice setup man That Mr. Heater looks much warmer than my single element propane heater. Did you get a good deal on the tent?

Everything I own that was facing East today is covered with ice, including the backside of my jacket and toque. The winds were fairly strong and the freezing rain was persistent. Ice was solid at 4" to 6". The fishing was slow at first but the action sneaked up on us and the next thing we knew, we filled our combined limit of 6 walleye under 43 cms (Joey has a conservation license). We fished in 8-15 FOW, most fish coming from 12 FOW with minnows or jigging spoons. It was a good start to the winter walleye season!

Really like the new one! A great series. Thanks for showing.

Don't worry Jacques, for my regular fishing, walleye and pike, I'll be using yours. You can't beat that design! Infact, got a couple walleye tonight with them.

Haha prostaff. So when can I quit my dayjob??
-
In a sense, yes. It essentially increases or decreases the sensitivity of the tip....I moved it to the front-heavy position for the splake so I could see any small hits.
-
haha, those are the new tipup designs from Jigerr.com. I've been giving them a try and so far they work quite well...they caught me the only fish today There is nothing fancy about them, they just have a very unique look. Nice and simple and very easy to store/carry around.

That sled is gonna be your favorite fishing tool! yuck to that weather -
Jeremy84 and I met up for the first time and had a great day on a small lake. The ice wasn't as good as I had thought, so we could not reach my honey hole but that's ok. We had nice weather and managed to catch one splake. JoeyT showed up later with some friends and they also caught a single fish. Nice meeting you Jeremy!

Reading the comments on their website is funny as well. The first time I heard this show it was about a guy who commuted from calgary to vancouver for work. Well over 100 hrs per week he said he would drive hahaha. I actually believed it until I thought about it and looked into the show. -
It's a sensitive issue, but SOMETHING needs to be done! Make sure you listen to the entire show. http://www.cbc.ca/thisisthat/blog/2012/12/12/montreal-bylaw-requires-dogs-to-understand-commands-in-both-official-languages/

lots of specks stay in creeks all winter. I know many speck creeks that are nowhere near a lake.
-
Way to extend your season to the limit. You are something else when it comes to musky fishing
-
I appreciate his effort. Any attention to lake Nip is good right now. But, as KF said.... it's nothing less, nothing more. Twocoda, good job taking a strong political stance in the first post

We've had good ice forming weather this week. Small, sheltered lakes are becoming safe and nipissing has a skim of ice. I wont be too far from that location If your travelling this way, give me a heads up....
