I've caught some walleye in rice lake in under 3feet of water, mid day. Grateful said it best...they follow their bellies! Exciting though, huh?

To catch active pike I found it productive to RIP the lure FAST through the water rather than dragging sit slowly. In weeded areas use a big ol' spoon and rip it across the top of the weeds. Pike are masters at lurking and shooting out to get a bait. I've seen them jump a foot out of the water when attacking a bait. Mepps and other spinners work great for this application. The other option when fishing weeds for pike is to "dance" a softbait in and out of the openings in the weed bed. You'll also get nice suprises like walleye and bass working the soft bait in this manner. A suspended minnow under a float, quick strike or slowly sinking to the bottom also works, but would be more or a tactic to use around structure like rocks, shoals or open water in my opinion. Try giving you're lures some extra speed when you around the weeds, I've found subtlety doesn't always help when pike fishing.

Hey Fisher. I usually fish at the Barrie Marina located on Lakeshore drive for perch (take the essa exit east. Follow Essa and turn right onto Tiffin, then quick left onto lakeshore.) There is a nice drop off and the fish bite good on worms. If you want a little quieter spot, follow the paved bike path on lakeshore south and just settle into a quiet spot on the lake. Watch out for the rocks at the marina, they like to gobble up hooks within 20 feet of shore. A bobber would solve that I suppose.

Fisher12 if you are thinking of fishing the Kawarthas for walleye...consider bucktail jigs (jig heads with hair on them). they work well in the weeds as most kawartha lakes are quite weedy.

If that's the small one....let me guess, there's actually a worm harness at the end of that anchor rope?

Those gloves you have are pretty sweet and the knuckleball jigs you are using are my favorite for walleye. They seem to give you that little "edge" over regular jig heads since they stand up on the bottom rather than turn flat. Looks like you made the best of a windy day! Thanks for the video.

Maybe I should have translated it... It is just plotted data so without averages and min/max's, you are right it's hard to conclude anything. ...plus I said it looks like this year will be the windiest year. I'm no scientician.

I've done that exact drive twice. I bet you won't miss Hwy 63, I sure don't. I guess I didn't read your first thread, I wish I would have now. There are lots of good fishing spots (including Nipigon) but the drive is MUCH longer when you stop all the time.
