  1. I just want to comment on how great the reports have been lately. I haven't seen this many nice weather/nice fish/family reports in a long time! The Musky reports have been especially epic lately! I'm looking forward to the fall BOQ and other walleye factory (Musky Mike, Limeyangler and others) reports. OFC is pure gold sometimes; the past few days have proven that!!
  2. Haha it's not that bad. I've never had a ruined fishing day because of my $50 rod. The only Fenwick I ever broke was the victim of my car door. I bring a $20 spare with me everywhere I go and it serves me just fine. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a Top Quality rod, but unless you have Top Quality rod holders/carrybags/protectors/boat etc. it hardly seems worth the "accident" factor. It all depends on your fishing style. Either way, according to the masses, it sounds like the overall quality of the St-Croix's is better than the Fenwicks... but for $50 for a rod that is much better than anything else on the shelf, I'll take the Fenwick Highlander. Just my opinion of course.
  3. The Fenwick Highlander goes on sale at CT for 49.99 sometimes... Best rod for that price and CT has an easy return policy, although I've havnt had to use it in 3yrs. I'm VERY hard on equipment but I like quality... The Highlander is the answer for me. It sounds like the St.Coixs are in a different league nowdays, but for 50.00 I will take the Fenwick anyday thank you very much.
  4. That's a HUGE average size
  5. Super clear water in that lake and beautiful scenery too. We trolled in 30-50fow with harnesses and spoons and made at least 5 runs across the lake. We found some nice channels and drop offs and worked those areas even harder... I'm thinking the bright clear weather was a factor in their tight-lipedness today. Also, neither Dana and I are seasoned laker fishermen haha. Do you think they'd be closer to surface this time of year? Would they be more scattered or schooled up? Thx!
  6. Great report! Nice perch indeed
  7. That's a fine looking dinner and yes, this weather we had was unbelievable

  24. Dana, I'm not sure what the northern boundary is for largies, but I don't know any spots past Marten River. It seems most of the largie lakes in my area are south of North Bay.
