  1. Walleye whisperer! Who cares about a slow start when you end like that. Good show.
  2. Got -36 on the gauge this morning. That's W/O windchill!
  3. a 3 year old can fish on his/her own just fine!. No CO will charge you with helping a 3 year old untangle lines or set them. If he sees you shoving the 3 year old over as you outrun him/her with your huge legs to the line to bring in the fish, well, he might change his tune.
  4. It can't be anything but live bait! I'll take a dozen
  5. Impressive! If you find yourself looking for burls, let me know
  6. Yikes, scary stuff. This isn't nearly as bad, but once I got caught on Nipissing during a snow/wind storm with my Dad, and the worst thing we did was jump on the sled and tried to aim for home. After 20 minutes we drove by the neighboring shack, we did a full circle, but still couldn't find our shack. Eventually we found a shack with someone in it so we stopped, and as it turns out, that person was also lost and had 'broke' in! Next time, I'm settling into the shack and just hunkering down.
  7. As an anonymous person on the Internet, yes I believe that is legal
  8. Place a jolly jumper above the hole, tie a line to it and let the kid jump. Makes for good jigging action. I'd consider that participating but I say absurd things sometimes
  9. You guys able to sled on the lake or just walking out? Nice fish. The walleye especially
  10. Reeds outdoor Adventures are also a pleasure to deal with and they have day huts. Next weekend will be crazy busy for all operators so book now!
  11. No marshmallows, but canned tuna and egg salad sammies yes!
  12. JoeyT and I escaped for the day, starting at 530am and ending at 530pm. I haven't been out much this year due to work and family fun, so I was especially looking forward to this. Gotta love living in the country; I was able to sled right from my doorstep to the lake. The morning bite was crazy until 10am, it then slowed down for the rest of the day, so we made a few fires and drilled a few holes looking for big ones. No big ones found but we got our limits of 5 each! I don't think I've ever done that lake spec fishing before. Spec fingers! kind of like jazz hands.
  13. The whole WETT inspection stuff is Bull. They are by no means a legal requirement, for insurance (or 'peace of mind') only, and even at that they don't necessarily require it. On my insurance questionnaire they asked if it was WETT certified, I wrote 'No' and nothing ever came of it
  14. a good-sized daytime ling on plastics! You don't see that too often
  15. The problem is what everyone else above said. Wood heat is a great economical/sustainable option in the country and can be a nuisance/problem in the city. The guys who sell firewood as a business still have to pay taxes.
  16. what the hell...that fish is ridiculous. After catching that, you have won at fishing.
  17. Good call Mike, I thought the same thing... burning wood in a dense city is not a great idea. I'd assume that if you live in Montreal, you've already forfeited the self-sustaining lifestyle. First of all, hardly anyone (or no-one) in montreal likely has a woodlot large enough to actually be self-sustaining. Getting pre-split firewood delivered to your urban asphalt driveway is hardly self-sustaining haha. Those outdoor wood furnaces can be brutal for neighbors too, the chimney's are low and they can burn some nasty fuel (soppy wood or dead bodies). During a temperature inversion, I would not want to live down-wind of an outdoor furnace as buddy throws in 4 foot stumps.
  18. Me wantee! I feel like OFC might have some stock in this machine
  19. can you smell burning rubber? That should be very distinct. If not, it's not the belt slipping. Maybe your fuel is just too rich?? My tundra smokes like a hooore if my fuel mix is too rich.
  20. That's a survival situation most of us will never encounter!. A neat experience in hindsight (and third party perspective) but in the moment I bet you were forced to balance your adrenaline rush with desperate and logical decisions.... Somehow it probably came natural to you.
