Balance is the key to a nice stick. I'd take a $250 stick that is balanced versus a $500 that was light and tip heavy.

what length u looking at? you just missed ec1's simax 7'2" H for $100, a crazy price for a great stick.

Depends on the spool. With my pixy I can fill 75 - 50 yards depending on the line. Enough for the purpose I use it for.

I also got 5 packs of the new Berkey Sick Fish. Should be sweet for Pike.

look at the abu combo's available...most come with a vengence or vendetta rod. for a quality reel at a good price the new daiwa lexa or revo s are nice.

Sound like club events fit your bill. Lots of good clubs available, CBAF or Ont BASS tourny are fun and pretty cheap to play in. Checkout the Rapala Concept Ti. I have the 6'8" and it's sweet. I've use many expensive rods and this spinning rod is great deal. I'm comparing to NRX, GLX, Zbone, DX, and Steez.
