1. Thanks for the tip Misfish, I'll bet we crossed paths a few times at ribfest when we lived in Barrie.
2. Thanks Mike P. I will check it out at Canadian Tire sounds like a good deal, I think the Easter turkey is going to be replaced by ribs this time around, thanks for sharing, Cheers John.
3. I boil mine in beer, pepper, cayene, cajun spice and a bit of tomatoe sauce and potatoes for about 10 mins. Pull the ribs out, put them on the grill. when the potatoes start to get soft I deep fry them... ohhhh so yum. For the BBQ sauce... I have the recipe engraved on a stone in 20 fow in the first bay on the right when entering from the eastern most tip just south of the third island that casts a shadow in the shape of a bull horn when viewed from the north at 3:35pm on the day after the first full moon before the harvest moon. Mind you, it desn't work unless you sacrfice two virgins, three pigs and a goat on consectutive sundays prior. Oh yah, I forgot to mention, when you go to get the recipe, don't forget your rod the lake is full of 8 pound speckle's that will take anything you throw at them. THAT'S EXACTLY where I was planning my trip in 4 more weeks to hunt down the speckle's and to dive for the secret stone Did my wife let the cat out of the bag . She just cannot keep a secret lol. I have already paid Buffalo Joe from Buffalo Airways to fly the two virgins, three pigs and a goat down south for you, keeping in mind they have to come from Edmonton as I can assure you there are no virgins... lol or pigs (of the animal kind) or goats in Yellowknife. That was a great one Jedimaster, my wife still has tears in her eyes Cheers John

5. Thanks Old Man for this one, its one thing to look up recipies on the internet but it is truly appreciated hearing your responses having actually tried them personally. My son will be eating so many ribs that he might not have room for the birthday cake,,,,ya right, thanks again, my wife is already giving a Cheers John
6. And I thought my ice fishing season sucked LOL

Thanks again for the recipe , I guess we are both substituting ribs in place of fish fries.

I know your next hard water season will be 1,000% better Jacque.

Cheers John
7. Thanks Smitty55, this ones sounds like a winner as well, I will let u know how they turn out, sounds like a recipie for ribs that u have enjoyed, thanks for sharing Cheers
8. Glad you both had a great day out and to put one on the ice is even better All your equipment looks to be in tact this time .......another bonus lol All the best in the soft water season.
9. Thanks Gallie, captpierre, TroutJunkie and Finesse Fan for the recipies, hope you all had a great weekend. I will let Ben pick one out for his birthday BUT we will try the other 3 over the next few weeks, Thanks again.
10. Greetings from NWT, beautiful -34 windchills with 4 feet of "good ice" lol I guess i have been fishing with the wrong end of the rod again this winter . I think the Leafs will win the Stanely Cup before I reach 10 for the season, but the scenery is great. My son is having his 18th birthday in a couple of days, not looking good for a fish fry, that was one thing on his list BUT he loves spare ribs on the bbq. Can anyone help with a simple recipe for a dry rub or a liquid u could soak them in like a marinate for a few hours before bbqing. Enjoy your weekend and the March break, hope you all have safe travels today and tight lines. Thanks Blizz
11. Great pictures, and an amazing catch, looks like u had alot of fun this winter, thats what its about. You caught more fish in one day than I have caught all winter lol,,,,,,LOOKING forward to more of your reports from next winters adventures, thanks for sharing.
12. Nice catch, sounds like it was long overdue and well deserved, enjoy
13. 3 to 4 times a week back in Ontario.......lucky once a week up here just because I can't seem to find out where to catch them , whities fried in 1/8 inch olive oil or lakers on a cedar plank mmmmm good After watching the news this morning on how processed meats can shorten your life I am going to drill a few more holes this afternoon
14. We will miss him very much. Saw him years ago in Toronto , but even better in my moms home town of Sudbury, still have his cds and will play them with even more Canadian pride than before. A few years ago while we were still in Barrie a potato truck rolled over just south of Barrie, the driver was fine and was from PEI........we had kicx fm play Bud the Spud during the noon request show. Ironically friends of ours just flew back to Summerside 2 days ago after visiting up here for a week. We played some of his songs around the campfire. They own an oyster farm back there and were kind enough to bring us up some PEI dirt shirts.....those t shirts will be worn in respect to Stompin Tom, Rest in peace knowing we will always celebrate your life in music. 15. Great pictures of your outings plus your family, you should be very proud.
16. Thanks for sharing an awesome report, shows the adventure you can have but also the importance of planning ahead. Great experience for future trips, good luck in your new job.
17. X 2 lol mirrors are good lol glad I am not alone and they think income tax season hurts Like my wife says at the end of every season,,,,,,,,,,,"and those fish cost you a $150.00 a pound?" lol I bet you have already sent a wish list to Santa for next Christmas
18. A friend of mine back east has the exact truck and loves it, we have an 05 with a 5.3, were getting 28 mpg on our fishing runs from Barrie up to Manitoulin on cruise. What we were told as previously mentioned check diffs fairly regular and u should be fine. Also we were cautioned not to use the 4 auto. We just use the switches that let u go from 2 to 4 on your own. Even after 2 years up here it has been amazing. THE only problem we have encountered is that the driver door will not totally shut at -50 windchill LOL . You will enjoy your new addition trust me. Now go take it for another spin around the block, just dont get it dirty lol
19. My older brother live on Addie st. in the Sound for over 20 years when he was with the gov't. As I was in school then I would drive up almost every weekend and Summers were spent up there, Headhunter is bang on, They did not jump out of the hole but it did prove to have some productive fishing. From there we would go up the trails to the old 1867 restaurant at the north end which now is a burger and coffee stop. You have to be careful and talk to the locals but just a few hundred yards from the coast guard dock proved to be good for pickerel.
20. Sandbag and Purenewf you were right on the money, even with the snow falling we were able to blow the snow off and trace the wiring and at minus 50 windchills I know I can start a Polaris, my neighbour has a skidoo........he does not have the same bragging rights .........arctic tested....... even on a pull start lol but true.
21. Hope everyones seaon is going well Got a polaris 2 up 500 electric very well looked after, put a new battery in but the starter spins but will not slide out to engage the flywheel. What is also weird is the kill switch will not shut the machine off after pull starting, AND the ignition key will not shut it off, All the wires seem tight, Any thoughts are appreciated as we have guests visiting from PEI Blizz
22. Thanks for sharing those pictures with us, you have had an amazing season, AND you will have amazing results in maintaining your health, Just like you said the MORE tackle you buy the more fish you catch. Well you have a bushel full of prayers coming to you from Yellowknife, looking forward to pictures from you on the OFC of next years catch. Blizz
23. Awesome video, felt like we were right there fishing with you .
24. Glad you had some success, great looking fish, sorry about the damage but it still looks like it was a better day than at work
25. Bill check check and recheck before u reassemble, happened to one of our machines, thought we could just replace the piston, looked straight forward, after reassembly found a hairline crack which even a mechanic had not noticed, went on and on, ..............at the end of the day we would have been better off to put a new engine in, hopefully it is just the piston and not bearings bent crank etc.
