  1. Thanks Bigbuck, Spiel, lew, skidoosafari,Ron,and aplumma for all your help, if all else fails she will get an outhouse for her birthday, with an insulated seat of course.
  2. Its only 14 days by sled lol.... Your right on, If we had a basement I would have cut the abs in the basement taken out the flange and put a thinner one in. The belly pans are approx $3000 its the insulation blanket that keeps your pipes from freezing up. It covers the entire underside of the house. Thats why I hate to cut into it. Maybe i will have to check the hardware store to see if another manufacturer has one with a higher clearance. Thanks for the help,
  3. Thanks for the advice, but the clearance from the top of the floor flange to the bottom of the horn is virtually none existant thats why all the wax is being squeezed out, has anyone tried those rubber seals.
  4. Happy New Year I promised my wife I would redo her bathroom for a Christmas present. All was going well till we installed the new flusher. I never had one leak before, always used the wax seal with the plastic insert. When we took the old one out we noticed the floor flange was considerably higher than the ones in our old house in Barrie. Once installed water was leaking between the flusher and the floor, trickling. The wax ring was spread out like pizza dough. the plastic was literally against the porcelan. Tried a wax ring without the plastic, same result. Tried a newer product from the hardware store a rubber flange that sticks to the horn still leaks. We are in a mobile up here with no basement, it has a belly pan underneath which I do not want to cut. The hardware store sells thinner flanges which would allow some of the wax to stay inbetween but I cant get under neath to cut the old one out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as the ice fishing gear is feeling very neglected. Thanks john
  5. Great video the sound will come, check your previous posting for how we do whitefish. Cheers Blizz
  6. SIMON< SIMON< SIMON............. We are booking a flight and coming over for dinner, looks fantastic. My son and I are licking our chops just looking at the plate, what a presentation. As you remember, we targeted whitefish back in Ontario, followed by lakers. We are not having much luck getting whities up here unfortunately, through the ice I am speaking. Try cubing up some whitefish, nugget size, put them in a zip lock with some fish crisp, shake it up and leave in fridge for a few hours. Then heat up some olive oil in a fry pan on medium, no more than an 1/8 of an inch, fry the fish till golden brown, then enjoy. We are still hopeful we will sometime soon catch some whities on the jigs you sent us. Cheers Blizz and Ben. Happy New Year to u and the family.
  7. The pic did not download but the mountains look nice wherever the are, woops.
  8. Hope it keeps cold for all of you, so you can have some awesome hardwater fishing. Having moved from Barrie last year there is never uncertanty about ice up here. It shows up in October, this is a picture from our house October 11 looking out over the back.
  9. Prayers for family strength and continued healing are coming from the north as well.
  10. As some of u know we lost our daughter almost 9 years ago of natural causes. With the emotions and feelings that one has to go through in a situation like that I can only partially comprehend what those parents must be going through when those innocent lives were taken so tragically, regardless of the time of year but especially before Christmas. Instead of spending billions of dollars to see if life exists in outerspace or has done so maybe just maybe that money could be invested back on earth for a period of time so the heads of our countries could take care of some of the real needs and issues we are facing on a day to day basis on planet earth. All u seam to hear is "we are cutting back" in the government circles but they can throw money in the air. Regardless of your beliefs or religion I would challenge each one of the members on the board to give a thought or a prayer for all that were affected by this tragidy. I know first hand it helps to heal.
  11. We send some more of the cold air your way, that first ice is always exciting, hoping u have a better season than last year.
  12. Joey we met briefly at fishing for Tylor a few years ago, your welcome to come up and relive the Flin Flon memories. Just bring a couple of steaks.
  13. Your right, it is much drier than what we had in Barrie. I would happy fish in -35 up here than -10 back in Barrie where we had spent 18 years. Your ice fishing seasons here are guaranteed.
  14. With -38 c yesterday and a wind chill of -42 ish u need a little more than a cup of coffee to start the day.......how about a cup of........ hot water SORRY I CANNOT DOWN LOAD THE VIDEO BUT it is on tv on the weather network today under the force of nature. My wife and I were making some snow.
  15. Be safe back there on the roads. THATS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YELLOWKNIFE. WE HAVE 2 SEASONS> Summer and winter. Minus 37 c this morning. Have had snow since before Halloween. No sloppy messy stuff here, beats the crappy stuff we had do deal with in Barrie for 18 years. Awesome winters, awesome summers. Been ice fishing for 4 weeks.
  16. fish-meister The Canada Goose are nice coats. My wife bought one used last year and really likes it but as Drifter mentioned the Choko Adventurer is an amazing coat. My first one is at least 10 years old and that was my ice hut on Simcoe and in Parry Sound for years. I bought a second one when we got here. When it gets cold enough in the -25 and down she will put on one of the Chokos instead when we are out on the ice. If you want to get her one with the hood the Canada Goose are still a great coat for every day use.
  17. As Gerrit mentioned it is not an out of the ballpark quote if it incccludes materials and labour. But it is still alot of money namely yours. Two years ago I had a quote to do our bathroom when we lived back in Barrie. I had the same reaction. With some amazing advice from some fellow OFNers I ripped out our bathroom including tearing our floor out right down to the floor joists. With patience and some time you can save a great deal of money. If there is an area you are not comfortable with such as just for an example, electrical you could hire some one just for that specific job. Having said that sometimes it is better to bite it just to get the job over and done with depending on your schedule. I would be that way with shingling.
  18. Sorry to hear the news. We dealt with them years ago. Fine bunch of people. Tough blow at any time but especially before Christmas. Main thing is all are safe. They will get back on their feet and be bigger and better than ever.
  19. Thanks Ciceri for your information also. Hope u have a great sledding and fishing season. Hope all goes well when purchase your next machine also. Cheers Blizz.
  20. Thanks Fisherman, Drifter, Moosebunk, lakerguy, saltydawg and ecmilley for all your advice, much appreciated. I am sure this will help him get a machine that will allow him to enjoy the great outdoors again. Cheers Blizz
  21. Thanks Fisherman, Drifter 106 and Moosebunk for your advice, we will get it checked out in more detail before purchasing. Our 17 year old works alot of hours as well as going to school. It was his hard earned money down the drain, plus the costs of ongoing repairs. Thanks again for the help, appreciated, Blizz.
