  2. Hi all, Finally got out in the boat for a good session. Was out on the lake by 6am with high enthusiasm but low expectations.....late iceout could have the fish anywhere than where they should be. Turns out they were pretty close to where they usually are just shallower (14' being the key depth all morning. Stayed for just over 5 hours and must have caught close to 15 walleye, none under 22" and the best at 30.5". With the water temperature between 48 and 51F the trout were out to play too and I boaters 4. Inbetween the Walters an Lakers the bass and pike came out to play.....got a really nice 40" pike! Only moved once when the walleye bite died, went in search for them deep but nothing there. Basically turned on the spot lock on the Minn Kota and the fish came to me...really needed a good session interest boat...and for what amounted to this years maiden voyage was not disappointed! All fish on large dace minnows and 3/8oz chartreuse jig...simple but deadly today it seemed. When I got home my boy was just going for a nap but he saw me pull up with the boat...that was it.....he wanted to go fishing...so after his nap we all headed to a local pond and had supper in the boat...while the wife and I threw topwaters getting a few pike and bass, while Jack netted the only walleye of the evening. WALLEYE, LAKERS, BASS and PIKE video , We all slept very well after lots of fresh air. Happy memories.
  3. Hi all, Hesitated posting this, but then thought.....why? We all (well most) do it. I think its important that there is no doubt in Jack's mind how meat gets to the table. I have been trying to teach him about why we kill fish and other animals, we had months of debate why hunters were ok to shoot deer but it was not ok to throw rocks at them......some pretty philosophical debates ensued with my 4 year old Anyhoo, Jack has been given his own tackle box for Xmas and is loving having his own gear. He was very excited to see he had his own stringer. He caught the only walleye last night and was very excited to put it on the stringer. When we were leaving he insisted on killing it so it did not "flap" as this is "not kind". Catch and despatch and some less violent imagery from last night
  4. Great morning on the water.....31" walleye and 41" pike...bunch of bass and lake trout too.

  5. Cool......what an awesome day for those guys....good job.....the smiles say it all!
  6. Cool pics Brian....Gizmo is a cool little character for sure.
  7. so far in Canada i would have to say straight jigging for trout and walleye in deep water, ice fishing for lakers and whitefish with a jig aint to shabby either , so i guess i would have to say JIGGING.
  8. i dont do it, but up here a lot of folks 'can' pike....i've tried it and it aint much different to tuna once you add mayo, tomato, a sprinkle of chives and a good rye bread.
  9. Sorry Roy, new mac computer lets me export straight from vid editing software....it always exports to Youtube with 'private' as default....should be watchable now
  10. CHEESY MUSIC ADDED! SICK! LOL...Hero 3 Black Edition.....what a pain in the arse it has been....really buggy....loads of issues....no battery life....freezes up.......finally the firmware update seems to have solved some of the issues.....but now it gets too hot to touch.....not good for my very expensive 64gb Class 10 sd card. Yup....it has its own waterproof case, i need to work out how to mount it somewhere in the boat. I think i'll stick to walleye and trout ....but might get a couple next year for the smoker...heard they aint bad.
  11. good to know....thanks for putting that right.
  12. If you have the opportunity to get a new motor i suggest the Minnkota terrova with i-Pilot.....ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and by what you describe you want from a trolling motor would suit you to a T. The 'spot lock' alone is worth the price, and the newer ones will link directly to a Hummingbird fish finder( wish they had gone with Lowrance) and follow the contours of your GPS map!
  13. Got stung by a wasp yesterday, last time i was stung was 1985!

  14. I thought so too Terry. I know you have a gopro too, pretty neat little gizmos eh? have been dying to try it underwater, but had to wait for ages as the sucker run is sooooooo late this year.
  15. LOL..special videos....whatever do you mean Blair? Anyhoo...yup....had privacy set wrong...should be able to view now
  16. Hi all, After a fun day watching sucker fish in the creek with my boy, he wanted to go fishing in front of the house after supper. I had an hour to spare before night shift so we had a short family fishing session on the lawn. Jack has a new rod and 'taco' box (thats how he pronounces 'tackle', he does his best to mimic my accent....lol). The walleye we are catching are spawned out males.....still waiting for the big pike to make an appearance. Supper tomorrow night is looking good!
  17. That looks awesome Randy. Holy moly....as soon as i saw that first picture i thought 'that's gotta be rough on your gear.....lol a couple pictures later confirmed that. What a fantastic spot to set up camp. GREAT REPORT..... LOVE IT!
  18. Hi all, took my boy down to the creek today to watch the suckers doing their 'THANG'. Took some underwater footage of the yearly dance. Cool to see. SUCKERS DOIN' THEIR THANG(Now with music)
  19. Hi all, Had a great few sessions with my boy recently. Jack is getting more confident in his fishing skills and absolutely beat me hands down last night at a local pond. He insisted on small weights and floating jigs, not my egg sinker and large floating jig, and thats exactly what the fishes wanted....lol...i changed up pretty quick to his rig. He rarely turns down the opportunity to fish and has been bugging to get out in the boat......even been helping me prep the boat thias year...sanding bench seats etc...etc. The fish are scarce at the moment from shore, late ice out and other things playing a role there....but we have had fresh walleye for supper a couple times now this week, no complaints there! Here's some pics and video of yesterdays fishing. JACK TOOK THESE PICTURES....NOT BAD EH?
  20. Hi all, Playing around with my new pooter and decided to make a little stop motion for my Star Wars fanatic 4 year old. After around 20 consecutive giggle laden views later Jack says to me, "Dad.......how are R2-D2 and Yoda moving by themselves?" I replied, "ahaaaah....it's magic", Jack starts laughing and shoots me his 'dad you're so silly/ stop teasing look' and replies, "it's not magic, you're using an invisible hand!" AWESOME!
  21. WOW. That is awesome.
