4. Hi all, Winter came with a bang this year, temps below zero the norm day and night whereas as last week i was soaking up rays in the boat on mirror waters. Luckily i winterized the boat, just didn't get it in the garage before the snow came......ooooops! Anyways...woke up yesterday morning to a snow covered landscape......my boy was too young to remember snow so he had a blast discovering snow for the first time so to speak............. After a morning of fun with Jack.....the lad wolfed down a HUGE lunch and was definitely the exausted side of tired by 1pm. Jack and Mum headed for a nap and i headed to catch supper.....i only had an hour but the lake i was at is only a few minutes up the road....and i usually stretch an hour I think i wasted the first 20 minutes using my sinker and floating jig set up, because as soon as i changed to a oddball jig and large sucker minnow the bites were fast and furious. If i hadn't missed as many bites as i did i would have had 4 on the stringer no probs....but luckily the 2 i kept were 17" and 20"......more than enough for our feed! The small minnow ponds and lakes that are sheltered are already froze over.....i'll be firing up the auger for real by 1st week of December, possibly earlier. <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9zuDj-bb4s?fs=1&hl=en_US">

11. Thanks for the replies folks, it really nice to get good feedback, i'd do the reports anyways...but just to say thanks really Yup, winter starts next Saturday, long range forcast shows past that day temps wont go above freezing again...i'm hoping for a fast freeze up then hit some walleye through the ice, got a couple of new lakes i plan to try right from the get go. Thats awesome, Sven was talking about his cabin while we were out there, he does not have it anymore, but it was at the southeast end where we were about 2 km away near the pickerel lake creek. So...you were in Dryden and never brought me a Timmies JK...you on your way to or from Red Lake? Could just be creative editing Kwan ......lol....no...your right, i'm lucky enough to live near fisheries that make catching fish a no brainer...not always trophy...but its very rare to get skunked from a boat....on the ice is a different story for me....skunk quite often over winter...but i cant wait for the ice. Thanks Corvette, you always find time to post when i do, its appreciated You have a day off?....its your DUTY to go fishing....tight lines! Yeah...this dark by 5pm sucks alright, specially for the lake we live on, i always here about great walleye fishing after dark...Wabigoon Lake shuts down as soon as the sun dips below the treeline give or take 20 minutes.
12. wonderful report Joey, looks like a hoot! That supper sounds AMAZING!!!!
13. Hi all, The weather here has been incredible, bright sun, no wind and warm considering some years the lakes are icefishable by 20th November. I was gonna head out to Lac Seul by myself on Sunday and then bumped into a guy i met shore fishing a year ago and he asked to come along...Sven's a nice guy so of course he'd be welcome in the boat. We had to work pretty hard to find fish on Lac Seul and once you did the fish were sluggish, bellies to the bottom at 25-30 FOW just barely sucking in the minnows, i almost put a stinger hook on, only to find i had left them at home and could not be bothered to fashion one myself. Sven had not fished lac Seul since he was hauling wood out of the bush some 20yrs ago...so he had a blast and was great company, we could not have picked a nicer day, aprt from temps hovering around + 6 degrees it might have been a mid August day. LAC SEUL ON SUNDAY <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6hjnQNoNCY?fs=1&hl=en_US"> I got all my chores done on Monday and by 12pm my wife said she was going to nap with baby Jack....she grinned at me before i could say anything...she knew what i was thinking and of course she was ok with it....Eagle Lake here I come! Its only 15-20 mins up the road and the weather was spectacular again. Just as i started out the door to sort my minnow stash , the phone goes, Sven was thinking the same as me....so the plan was set...i'd meet him at the corner on Hwy 502 in half an hour. The bite was frantic from the first cast, lots of small fish but great fun, we got a couple nice 17" keepers and Sven got the biggest today at 23"....perfect end to the 'softwater season'....winterize the boat on Thursday and shore fish till the ice gets here. EAGLE LAKE ON MONDAY <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLht9EtMHvE?fs=1&hl=en_US"> tight lines all....i'll see ya on the ice!!!!
14. Really nice fish. i tried for some yesterday on Lac Seul, not a sniff....water temps at surface were 41.
15. I'm out today, Lac Seul yesterday, Eagle today....then i think i'm done, ponds up to Lac Seul yeasterday were froze over completely...not long now before my end of season turns to start of season again! Better get the bottom end done this week though, temps are below zero most nights now.
16. Wayne....you deserve a good smile with all thats on your plate, i'm sure your loved one will pull through...she's a tough cookie that one
17. I posted a week or so ago and added some footage of my boy helping clean the catch at the end. my boy Jack loves sitting at the computer watching my videos...he'll come over as soon as i sit at the computer and ask for 'fish?' while he likes the fishing videos, he has also started to ask to watch..."Jack?" He really loves watching himself on screen, he found it really funny when he says "eeeeew" about kissing the fish we were cleaning....had my wife and me laughing along too...precious moments! I did a video of the original clip then Jack and mum and dad watching it with him...i just love it! <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiaRZCkiE70?hl=en&fs=1">

21. Thanks for the replies gang Kwan, you seem to do pretty well right where you are! If your ever up this way let me know...always room for one more in my leaky tinpot boat. Yup....only last week at the same spot i was cursing all the keeper size i was catching, one week later the tables turned...but i'm at work now about to cook for my co-workers ....again...they are spoiled.
22. Hi all, got a couple hours in before sunset on Eagle Lake today, really nice weather. Lots of walleye again, and a baby muskie on the second cast on a 4" sucker minnow. Lots of slot fish today, fun to catch but supper was looking doubtful until the sun started to set, then a fish a cast for 20 minutes and off i went with 4 nice fish which my boy took great delight in helping me clean when i got home. <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2eCx1IIQes?hl=en&fs=1">
