  1. November 2008 The Wall Street Journal reports that Citibank © has become the latest recipient of a government bailout - this one to the tune of $300 billion 19th October 2011 Citigroup is paying $285m (£180m) to settle civil fraud charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  2. I'm glad you spotted that too Torco,
  3. Wow....all those fish...and WILD BEER too I too have had the debate about going for specks...i am a specky vurg. Great report JB.
  4. Hi All, A favourite shore fishing spot is really producing this fall. Nothing fancy, jigs and large minnows cast into 18' of water and brought back with a jerk..jerk...twitch twitch...pause (repeat). This outing the fish were doing a late shift and took 20 minutes before biting, but for 1 hour it was again a bite a cast and i was home in time to cook it up. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JZTPqGw_Bh8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  5. skinny...i was not trying to kick ya when you were down...i am friggin serious when i say keep the boat, life is not a dress rehearsal!
  6. I was not debating government or lobbying either, i was just saying that i did not think your Mcdonalds worker anology was good one, considering that making a financial donation to a communtity was easier for powerful (lobbying/influencing political decisions that could benefit you financially) multi-national corporation with quarterly profits in the $illions than it would be for the employee on minimum wage. I would not think of that employee as selfish/self interested in comparison to 'corporate' greed.
  7. I had to ask....lol.
  8. LOL.....kill me now.
  9. The Tea Party is alive and well in Canada
  10. I'd have to keep the boat so i could put food on the table
  11. I dont think its a good comparison at all.....considering that the hypothetcal person left with the choice of self interest or altruism/charity/community spirit does not have lobbying powers in governments, or post a profit of $1.41 billion, or $1.35 a share, in the second quarter(July this year) , up from $1.23 billion, or $1.13 a share, a year earlier.
  12. AWESOME GEOFF!!!! Nobody who accused all the protesters of being 'hippies' want to comment about the picture posted in geoff's reply?

  17. Thanks for all the kind replies folks, they made me cry again! It feels really empty in the house tonight despite my beautiful wife and child being here. The old bugger never really even moved from sleeping in 2 different spots with the odd waking moment to feed and poop...the original Garfield...but the house seems so empty because of his conspicuous absence But i have been looking through pictures spanning 15 years...and there are lots of happy memories...it just hurts so much at the moment. Once again...thanks for taking the time to read this and reply...means a lot to me. Simon. RIP Oscar..aka....Moof, Moose, Scoonie Moony.
  18. My sincere condolences Simon.
  19. I just took my good pal Oscar to the vet to be laid to rest. I cant stop crying....it just wells up and overwhelms me...but i know he is not suffering anymore. I have never had to go through this before with a pet...but they are like family. Oscar was 20+ years old and was there for me through some tough times and some great times. it was nice to be able to hold him as he slipped away, a relief as the last few days were very bad for him. Good bye old friend...I miss you.
  20. Thoughts and good wishes on their way.
  21. Hi all, Plan was to go to Lac Seul this morning. Had everything ready to go and was up at 6:30 am. Rain was bucketing down outside and I think the noise on the roof woke baby Jack. He came out to the couch and we snuggled up...before I knew it and 3 episodes of toopy and binoo later it was almost 9 o'clock! I made Jack some fruit salad and we all had pancakes too, by now I did not want to go up to Lac Seul, just a good family morning. About midway through shopping in town....the urge to fish was again upon me. I planned to just put the boat in locally somewhere after lunch. I lay down with Jack to give him his nap time milk...fatal...I woke up 2 hours later next to a snoring baby and sleeping mum. I eventually headed out at 3:30pm and after a brief detour to town was at my shore fishing spot at 4pm. A guy called Rob who I met 2 years ago at the same spot was there again. Him and his buddies have been coming up to the area for 20 years to moose hunt. We missed each other last year and had a good chat about what had gone on for both of us in the last 2 years. Fishing was awesome and it was a fish a cast for the 2 hours we were there. VIDEO <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/V9WXP4eDsnM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I GOT SOME NICE ONES JIGGING ROB GOT SOME NICE ONES WITH HIS PICKEREL RIG EVEN THE SMALL ONES WERE AGRESSIVE AND THOUGHT NOTHING OF TACKLING A 4" MINNOW MADE SUPPER WHEN I GOT HOME, I"M BAKING THE WALLEYE IN THE OVEN RECENTLY...REALLY GOOD WITH MY ALMOND/PUMKIN SEED/CRANBERRY and PECAN SALAD WITH BUTTER ROASTED POTATOES AND GARLIC! AND WE EVEN ENJOYED SOME AFTER DINNER CABERET AS PERFORMED BUT THE MULTI TALENTED JACK <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CEYHBZtN7_A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> All in all a great day spent with old friends and family, even though the day turned out quite differently to my best laid plans...not bad for a go with the flow kind of day!
