  1. Hey guys/girls there's a way to fix this problem. When the big guys raise their gas prices everybody stay home! Don't go to work for 1 day, don't go shopping, don't go to CTC, or Home Depot: don't do anything that involves spending money. Stay home with your loved ones (when is the last time U did that)? Can u imagine if the entire province of Ontario stayed home for 1 day. No retail sales, no tax being paid, no gas purchases, no tax paid. Imagine home depot, Bass Pro, CTC, Zellers, Sobeys, car dealerships, Pizza Pizza, gotta mention the beer store & of course many other retailers with their doors wide open for business & nobody in the store. Would this grab the attention of the FAT CATS? I think so. It was recently reported on the news that the president of a major bank "earned $15 million last year". His salary was $1.5 million, with added bonuses, & shares his income was reported at $15 million for the year!! Guess who paid for it? You & I! Also recently TD Canada Trust is charging $1.00 for U to view your recent account activity on an ATM (bank machine). Dammit it's a machine that U & I paid for, it spits out a piece of paper worth .003 cents & we pay $1.00 for this "service" ? Did u read in the news that they R anticipating gas prices to rise to $1.50 /litre this coming summer. Here in Sudbury gas is already $1.32 / litre, that means with the predicted increase we'll be paying $1.75/ litre. How can they predict this? Would a gas price increase of .25 per litre put a damper on your vacation plans this summer? Damn right it would! I suggested this "day of rest" to some friends many years ago. They all agreed it would get attention. Problem is to get the entire province of Ontario on board. I'm going to start here at the good ole OFC! Pls write a reply, email me [email protected], tell your friends, tell your co workers, send an email to all of your contacts, tell your children, tell your wife, tell your girlfriends, but don't tell your wife about your girlfriend! My hope is, in 72 hours my computer is loaded with replies. We have to stop this nonsense! "united we stand divided we fall"
  2. Thanx for sharing, we're still iced in here in Sudbury. +20 here today so it won't take long. Augered through 24" last Sunday on Nipissing, but this past week end the shore is deteriorating quickly.
  3. sorry to hear of your loss. Pets R part of the family.
  4. I have a line on a new Merc 20 HP 2 stroke for $2,400. How he has new 2 smokes I don't know?? New Merc 20 HP 4 stroke is $3,000.00. Save $600 bux! 2 strokes R lighter & faster.
  5. Thanx kwikfish - U R right, many options/variables to look at.
  6. Good lookin cats Steve. I've been meaning to ask - R U related to the Piggott Construction family. If so I worked for them from 1984 -1994. Brian Piggott, Jeff Piggott?? I worked on many projects in Niagara for them. My home is Fonthill, but recently relocated to Sudbury.
  7. Thanx for all your replies. I'm presently PM Irishfield for a quote on the Naden. His guy is going to contact me. I emailed Polar Craft 1 week ago, they have yet to reply. Princecraft & Alumacraft R .066 guage aluminum, Naden is .072, also 4" wider. Naden has 5 keel strips which makes it a very stable boat. Not sure # of keel strips on the Prince, but I will find out.
  8. Yah that's my problem, getting to old to do the heavy duty lifting. I even use the winch on my ATV to pull my hut up onto the trailer.
  9. Dan - small lakes, largest chop I was in was 8 - 12". Not planning on using it on Nipissing or Simcoe.
  10. Thanx for the info Trevy. Good to know. Glen it will be on a trailer.
  11. Sorry I lied!! The 14' Princecraft is 30lbs (not 5lbs as stated above) heavier than the 14' Alumacraft with 20" transom. Trevy- At that speed how many guys & gear in the boat? What is the weight of your boat? I'm attempting to get this info from the dealers but not getting too far. The 1 dealer says if I'm not happy with the 20 HP bring it back he'll upgrade for me. Problem is if I go 25HP I would want electric start which is an additional $1,700.00 over the 20 HP pull start. Thanx for your replies.
  12. I'm looking to purchase a new 14' tinny for the small lakes I fish north of Sudbury. I'm looking at the Princecraft Yukon 15. It's 14'3" length with a 15" transom. Also available is the Yukon 20 (14'3", 20" transom). Both have 68" beam. What R your thoughts on the short shaft versus the long shaft? Also motor size? Max HP rating is 25HP. This sounds like alot of motor for a 14'. I'm leaning toward a 15HP Merc 4 stroke. Or should I move up to the 20 HP? Salesman states going from 15 HP - 20 HP is only a difference of 2-3 mph. Your comments are welcome. Does anybody own this particular boat? I would appreciate your input. I also looked at the Alumacraft. Similar specs to the Princecraft. Alumacraft's max HP rating is 20 HP. Weight of both is only a 5 lb difference. Please give me your thoughts. Thanx
  13. I usually target walleye & use the go getters that Nipfisher posted pix of. I tie my own in the winter as a hobby on a cold, rainy day. In my boat I will usually have 40 - 50 different styles & colors. My go to color is perch or chartreuse. When the bite is slow I'll even try black, gold, silver & sometimes purple.
  14. I'm looking for a good quality camera. What is a DSLR? Please explain some of the features. I'm technically challenged when it comes to cameras. Thanx for your help.
  15. Thanx for the pix. Looks lonely! Where did the "village" go? I was getting walleye in 43 fow last Sunday.
  16. If U have a boat guys R getting nice sized perch in 55 fow off Port Colborne. Launch is 20 minutes from Welland.
  17. Herring is still swimming. One of the locals tell me they R wormy. 3 -4" of water on the ice when I returned at 6:30. With mild temps it's going to deterriorate quickly. Play safe guys!!
  18. She's a keeper! I remember taking my 2 daughters on the ice when they were 8 & 10. They're now 38 and 35. Memories is what its all about.
  19. I fished off the Islands at Sturgeon today, 43 fow, landed 8 wallys (kept4), 10 nice perch & 1 herring. Beauty day, no coat all afternoon. 3 - 4" of water on the ride back to shore. Gonna get worse with mild temps this week.
  20. Happy birthday Jack. Cherish the memories! I have 2 beautiful daughters now age 38 & 35. I remember taking them on the ice in 1984. We had a blast!! Take lots of pix while they R young.
