  1. Used it today for the first time, love it!!!! Very user friendly for us older folks who didn't grow up in the computer/electronics age. I had a blast on Nipissing today.
  2. Thanx for the positive comments. I hope I made the right choice. Now all I need is fish!
  3. Just bought an Ice 55. Awesome features! I've never used electronics on the ice but it's gonna get a work out this week end. Let U know how I make out with it. I was able to go online & download the user's manual before actually purchasing it. This was a bonus in making a decision which one to buy.
  4. What is a "cornucopia"? Is it a good bait for walleye?
  5. Thanks for the report, nice pix. Lunch looks awesome.
  6. Get an iphone. They have an app called "maps". It is a GPS, u can also find local stores, services if U R travelling in a town U R not familiar with. Then U buy an app called "Navionics" for $15.00. It is very similar to the chip U buy for your chartplotter which is $300.00 Oh yah make sure U get the free app "Angry Birds"
  7. If travelling east from Sudbury to North Bay on Hwy 17 there's a place called Kate's Restaurant, is an excellent breakfast. Just a small place, owned by Mennonites, so most of the food is home made. Very friendly staff. I was there last Saturday on my way to the annual M&G on Callandar. Best toasted western I've ever had. I'ts approx 4 km east of Hagar. Randy U must know this place.
  8. Are they that bad to do business with? I've never been to a Sail yet.
  9. Brian & I got off the ice just in time to get everything tied down in my truck. We were just getting on Hwy 11 when the snow started . It was a slow drive back to Sudbury. Had a blast at the M&G. Hope every one made it home safely.
  10. good going! I'll be watching for pix. What am I gonna read now? Your project has kept me busy reading for a long time. Good luck with the launch
  11. No disrespect Kyle, yah my hut/ tarp thingy is close to the price of 1 of your windows! Actually U can view my set up at the M&G on Callandar this past week end. Had a lotta fun! Only problem, the fish were not co operating for me! Others did well
  12. Many people have been inquiring about floater suits in the past, I wish to share my experience. I owned a buoy o buoy 1 piece for 10 years, found it to be awkward, bulky & difficult to put on & off. I needed to replace it so I decided to look at the floater suits as opposed to a "survival" suit. I found a HJC 2 piece floater in Sudbury. Tried it on & was pleasantly surprised how comfortable it is. It's 2 piece which is great for jacket removal on a mild day, has cloth lined pockets in the bibs as well as the jacket, also a cloth lined collar, full lenght zippers on the bibs, lots of velcro. Also storm flaps over the zippers on the bibs & jacket. Price was $144. for the jacket, $117. for the bibs, total $216.00 which is alot less than all the survival suits I checked out. If u wish to see pix of the suit see the post of the G2G on Nipissing this past week end "the winners are". Overall very comfortable & easier mobility. I'm of the older generation so comfort is important. Also purchased a pair of "Nats" rubber boots. This boot was recomended by another member in a previous post. These boots are the lightest boot I've ever tried. Warm, comfy, lightweight! I have the Sorel snowmobile boot but the uppers being nylon would allow water in while using a gas auger. I used the Nats at Saturdays G2G (mild weather), very comfy, but also fished in Sudbury on Sunday where it was -9 with 15km wind. They were also very warm. I highly recomend these 2 products to any outdoors people. Nats boots $89.00. Hope this helps others narrow their choice for outdoor clothing.
  13. If U have an under achieving thyroid gland your doctor will prescribe Eltroxin 0.5 mg. A much smaller fish probably only 0.1 mg per day & do not use salt at the dinner table. I explained to the doctor about the amount of salt in a bottle of beer, he threw his hands in the air & left!! HA HA
  14. Hoping U were gonna "Drop in". Ice was perfect for a landing strip
  15. Mercman thanx for donating some prizes. Motion, we (Brian & Brian) had similar driving to get to Sudbury, storm came out of no where. To my knowledge not even forecasted, but north of Sudbury they had a severe blizzard with 15 CM of snow. This AM was beautiful on Nepawassi Lake. Let's do it again next season. It was a blast.
  16. Thanx Chad, Nip for a great day! My expertise for hooking fish was off but the socializing was awesome. My buddy the "other Brian" also had a great time. He can't post right now cause he's on his way back to London. We travelled/ fished 12 hours Sat. for the M&G, slept a little bit then "HAD" to get up early to fish Nepawassi Lake a little south of Sudbury before he had to head home. I convinced him to register with OFC. He's "Pylon" & I'm sure u guys will be hearing from him. Once again thanx
  17. Hey guys thanx for a wonderful day. It was nice to meet all the members whom I had only know previously as posters on the board. Weather was great, fishing was good. My buddy from London ( Brian) got skunked which is good for me. I outfished him by 1 pike 19.5". if it wern't for Alex nailing 3 walleye in less than 30 minutes I wouldn't have gotten any excercise, running to see his fish! Blair U R the best for organizing this event. Thanx for sharing your shack to warm up in. A big thank U to the OFNers who supplied the hot dogs & burgers. My ride to the LCBO with the ATV was awesome. U can drive an ATV on the streets in Callandar. In my town U get arrested! Randy from Sturgeon - I did blow the horn while cruising thru Sturgeon Falls. Why didn't U wave? Blair What did U do with my cheesies & pretzels? I'm hungry now! Tired, going to bed
  18. hey sounds like a good time. Leaving Sudbury at 7:00 am. Be on the ice 9:00 am. if u don't know who I am, I'll have the biggest fish. HA HA, I wish?? I'm bringing chips, pretzels, cheesies. 1 more sleep!!!!
  19. I won't be able to visit this week end to view the palace. LOL Got an important date with the perch on Callandar both Sat & Sun. R U launching soon? Got an idea for a name. "$$$ Pit" No disrespect but this palace must cost a fortune. My plywood/tarp thingy/hut is the cost of 1 of your windows! HA HA
  20. I've used this method as well. I then break them up into smaller pieces to chum a hole. This does work while perchin. I chum a hole with a few salties & shortly afterward the bite is on. "Hold on with both hands"
  21. Well I took the plunge & bought a floater (not survival) suit. It is very comfortable, not bulky & awkward like most Mustangs, buoy o buoy. It is a HJC who also makes helmets. Lots of full length zippers & velcro. It is a 2 piece, has lined pockets, cloth lined collar. On a mild day remove the jacket, open some zippers on the bib style pants. Many nice features & very comfortable for mobility. U should take a look at them, I'm happy with it. I'll be trying it out tomorrow at the M&G on Nipissing.
  22. Just bought the chains tonight, gotta try em out! Hey Nip if U don't like the chains, your ride will be crazy!! LOL sorry had to be funny
  23. I'm good to go! If any one needs a ride please flag me down. I'm green Polaris, black suit with some white stripes
