  1. I have an Iphone, purchased the navionics app for $15.00. Detail is good for Lake Nipissing & Georgian Bay. When I had my Lowrance chartplotter the navionics gold chip was $300.00!!
  2. Try the Pickeral river, French River area. Always been good for me. 2.5 hours north of Barrie.
  3. RichD We're in a 16' fibreglass, 50 HP Suzuki. Put motor in neutral, easy to pull the pails in. Drifter We fish Erie for Walleye found 1.5 to 2 mph is what they want.
  4. Welcome to the board. I tie two 5 gal pails off the stern to slow us down. Works great & cheap!
  5. Good report, love the pix of the little guy! He's Kool!
  6. I did a similar restoration on an older boat. Cut out the old floor used regular 1/2" ply. I coated the underside of the ply with fibreglass resin to seal it, screwed the new floor in place. Then I fibreglassed the top surface to bond to the sides of the boat. That was 12 years ago, the guy I sold it to says the floor is still in top shape. The key is sealing the under side. Hope this helps
  7. Add me to the list of pool noodle users. The Lindy rig costs approximately $10.00 (if I remember correctly) a pool noodle is only $3.00 at WalMart & U can cut them into 10" pieces giving U 4 separate harness holders. Pack the holders into a large tupperware container. Works for me!
  8. Nice pix, thanx for sharing. I thought U guys ice fished till July? LOL
  9. I have an Iphone, very happy with it. It has many useful apps such a maps, navionics, GPS, touch screen for texting is user friendly. Oh yah I have "angry birds" which keeps me occupied while in the crane on a slow day. U can buy the navionics app for $15. compared to $300. when u buy the chip for your fish finder or chart plotter. Sorry I didn't answer your question.
  10. I asked a conservation officer on Lake Simcoe 2 years ago about riding with 2 people. He stated it was illegal on the ice. This topic has been discussed in the past & the replies I read at the time even stated that U cannot have a passenger even with a 2up seat. So now we question - why do they sell ATVS with a 2 up seat?
  11. Wow sounds like junk, I'd be returning that reel in a hurry!
  12. Great intro Steve, now the whole internet knows all about you! HA HA You'll love it here! I was born & raised in St. Catharines, recently relocated to Sudbury. Your teen years sound similar to my own. Now I wait impatiently for the week end or a day of work in order to wet a line. I'm a little bit older than you, my youngest daughter just turned 36. Niagara has alot to offer in different spots to fish. Hopefully you'll be able to get out in a boat on Lake Erie & enjoy jumbo perch which by the way are hot right now & later in the summer some 7- 10lb walleye.
  13. Sorry to tell U, but riding 2 on an ATV is illegal. If U R on Simcoe you'll get fined for sure. OPP & MNR R out there alot.
  14. Good topic. I've been searching as well. I'm looking for a 14' for the smaller lakes I fish. Tracker only has 3 keel strips & no splash rails, Lund has 5 keel strips & splash rails, Naden has 5 keel strips. Not too sure how many keel strips on the Princecraft or the Aluma craft, but I will find out. Keel strips give the boat more stability, & tracks straighter. Lund 14' new is $2600.00, Tracker is $2000.00. I am favouring Lund. If U feel U can guide me to a better boat please advise. Now how about motors. I was quoted for a 20 hp 4 stroke Yammy $4250.00, Honda $3500.00, Merc $3000.00. I can't believe a Yammy is $750.00 more than a Honda. Why is Merc so much cheaper? Thanx for your help.
  15. Thanx Garry. Very good info. I watched the other knot tying videos as well
  16. Hey Chad, I just remembered the name of the resort on the south shore. Tama Kwa (spelling?). It's probably in your back yard
  17. Paul I have 2 Mitchells, 1 is a 300 (right hand retreive) & the other is a 301 left hand retreive. I have owned them since the mid 60's. I paid $18.00 for the 300 & $26.00 for the 301. To my recollection the shape (body) of the 2 models never changed. Having said that, it would be hard to determine an exact age. I used a 300 as early as 1960 & the foot print never changed. I'm left handed, so at that time I casted with my left hand, then switched the rod over to my right hand & had to retreive with my left hand. Then they came out with the 301 woo hoo!, I could now cast & not switch the rod to the other hand in order to retreive. The 2 I have were made in France, have metal gears & I have the extra spool with both. Post a pic, it would be interesting to see if yours look like mine.
  18. Nice rig, can I borrow it?
  19. Grand River Troutfitters on hwy 6 near Fergus has all the toyz U will need!
  20. Nice pix, thanx for sharing. Caution, when out in the boat be aware of snapping turtles if U should let him go for a swim.
  21. Congratulations Chad. There's a nice resort on the south shore of Nipissing (I can't remember the name), But I think it's off Tillicum Bay Road. Also Resort Tapatoo off the 400 near Parry Sound.
  22. Yup I have to agree with LaSalle launch. It's right at the TD Canada Trust. Follow the armada of boats to the east (I think) end of the island. We catch some nice perch right at shore. Easter week end will be very busy. I'll probably be there for Easter.
  23. Welcome aboard. Nice perch!
  24. Happy birthday Wayne. We share the same date. I'm 59 (on Friday), posting this on Saturday. Thanx for the link to Temagami Marine, I've been in contact with Des.
  25. Hey Craig, sounds like you're the guy I want to talk to. I will be buying a new 14' for the small lakes I fish near Gogama. I looked at Princecraft, Aluma craft, Lund & Naden. Right now I've narrowed my search to Lund or Naden. I want to pair it up with a 20 HP, 4 stroke Merc electric start. What R your thoughts? Is a 15 HP too slow? Merc is available at most dealers. I've been advised to buy Yammy or Honda?? Your input is appreciated. Thanx
