  1. Thanx buddy I just bought a new iphone ES. Same as an iphone 6 but smaller, same size as my 5S was.
  2. My family has stayed at 3 Castles many times dating back to 1956. There is an entry in their guest book with my father's signature! I also stayed there with my family for many years. The view is awesome, the owners at that time were very nice, fishing was good for walleye & I landed a 42" musky while jigging for walleye with 6 lb line, a 1/4 oz white jig with a small minnow.
  3. Nice set of wheels! My '08 King Ranch uses 14 liters/ 100 km. highway, 16 liters/100 city. You'll love the 4X4 at the wet boat launch & a snowy drive to work in the morning. But, first we have to get some snow! LOL!
  4. Yup Spiel is your man! He lives in Hamilton.
  5. All good points guys! We have monster walleye, bass, muskie & rainbows right in Erie no matter which side of the lake you fish on. Oh did I mention we also have 15" perch! We are on the north shore of Erie near cities such as Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Port Maitland & Nanticoke. On the south shore Erieau, Leamington & Colchester are all great walleye factories also rainbows & jumbo perch. A bonus if you travel to Fort Frances you'll have a top notch guide with Manitoubass. Buy a round or 2 of beers at the Emo Inn & you'll have a knowledgeable guide for the day. 1 snag however, is when travelling through the small town of Emo & Rick says turn right at the Shell station to get to his house -forget it!! LOL! There is no Shell station! I'll leave it at that??
  6. I'm glad you said it first Rick. I was very disappointed when I visited Kenora last summer. Beer store was dirty, grocery store not much better, drunks lying on the sidewalk. All in all not a pretty site. Cops had 1 guy in hand cuffs who had trouble walking! This was in broad daylight. I wouldn't want to be there at night!! I understand mouth wash & shaving lotion are under lock & key in the pharmacy! Get away from Kenora in places such as Nestor Falls, Vermillion Bay, Ear Falls much more friendlier & cleaner.
  7. Awesome report! Now you got me thinking to planning a trip. I know Terrace Suites is an outstanding facility. Good to know Tama Kwa will put you on some fish. I guess Tama Kwa doesn't rent their cottages in the winter ( probably not winterized?)
  8. I have to agree with most of the guys stating their opinions of great fishing to be had with a 6 ,7 or 8 hour drive of the GTA. Areas north of Sudbury, Folyet & Chapleau have some outstanding fishing opportunities, for many different species, so why spend 2 days to fish Lake of the Woods?? I was fortunate to be in the area working anyway so why not include a trip to one of the best fishing areas in the world? A quick breakdown of my expenses to get to Rainy River. Travel time 22 hours from St. Catharines Gas expense for one way trip $325.00 Hotel in White River $95.00 Dinner the first night $45.00 Breakfast next morning $15.00 Arrive in Rainy River late the 2 nd day So $480.00 X 2 for the return trip = $960.00! Now add the cost of your cabin for the week which can range any where from $750.00 to $2500.00 Return flight to Thunder Bay $600.00, car rental approximately $350.00 for 1 week. Same expenses as driving but only a fraction of the time spent on the road. For those who have never been there you'll find the closer you are to LOTW it's rather expensive. Cabin rental for the week which usually includes a boat & motor can be anywhere from $1500. to 2500. per week. I found if you were closer to Vermillion Bay, Eagle Lake, Ear Falls the rental fees are substantially lower. I will never regret the time spent driving as I love the scenery, it's outstanding!
  9. Good question ! It is a tremendous drive for me in Niagara 22 hours door to door. I was fortunate enough to be working in Rainy River area last May & June, so before I returned to Niagara I spent a great week in Ear Falls at Little Canada Camp. Fishing was awesome, camp was very comfortable & the owner & his son were very helpful. So good I wanted to stay an extra week. Collin the owner stated that only 5% of his business comes from Southern Ontario, most of the others are Americans. I have already started some plans to head that way again next spring. Another bonus I was able to meet up with Manitoubass in Emo. I really liked the area around Vermillion Bay & I'm sure you would be able to put me on some good fishing. I'll get in touch as we get closer to spring fishing. PM me if you would like to share some local info. I know it's a long ass drive but I do enjoy the scenery. Another option is for me to fly to Thunder Bay, rent a car for the week.
  10. That's awesome Simon! Congratulations! When I first saw the ulterra self deploy I was sold. That commercial during the Saturday morning fishing shows says it all! Those 2 young guys on shore are in disbelief. I love it.
  11. I have a gas unit powered by a Honda that does everything I require such as washing down the driveway, cleaning the siding on my house & cleaning the algae off the patio deck. Priced at about $550 at Home Depot. At $1500 it must be a very good washer.
  12. I'd rather see more discussion about the bacon. It is fishing related as I chunk up walleye fillets, wrap them in bacon & put them on the grill. Awesome! Oops! Maybe this should be in the cooking thread! LOL!
  13. Myself personally I like the present set up. I love reading the fishing reports, new fishing equipment reviews, advice on boat purchases & different fishing lodges. I also enjoy the advice given for repairing the various types of equipment we outdoors people own including outboard motors, painting a boat, which fish locator is better, including the threads about truck tires & where to purchase a good deep cycle battery. I gain tons of knowledge about the above stated topics. That's why I am here! If it's a political thread, I usually ignore them. Very simple in my mind!
  14. Interesting! After reading Rick's original post in regards to prohibiting People with status cards I thought this guy is not quite right?? Maybe MNR will have some "slightly used" huts for sale! LOL!
  15. Nice report Cliff! Bonus you caught some fish!
  16. Wow!, lottsa gear all packed in a compact way. Good luck, have fun!
  17. Hey Rick I do hope you get well soon. To have to drive in that blizzard must have been horrible! I've often thought about relocating to a remote northern community but I also have to think of medical care as I get older. I've driven that trip before & it's along trip even in summer conditions.
  18. I like the features of Actic Armour plus which I read on line. Does anybody in Ontario sell them?
  19. I'm pretty well set up for open water, but adding Ipilot to my 55 lb MinnKota would be awesome. I hope someone who has added I pilot to an existing electric troller replies to your question. I'll be watching this topic.
  20. My 14' Lund is pretty much a bare bones boat with a 20 hp yammy 4 stroke, full floor, 2 batteries & normal fishing gear. I run a Minn Kota 55 lb & she moves along very well. I'm like you, do a lot of trolling with my electric. Electric is enough power for my purposes. I love trolling with it!
  21. Good to hear the news. Keep at the healthy lifestyle. The experts all agree that exercise & healthy eating habits are important to a long, happy life. Aug 1 I weighed 216 lbs, then I stopped eating fried foods, deep fried dinners, eliminated junk food such as chips, pop, chocolate bars & cut out ALL desserts. Today I'm 193 lbs & feel much better. Good luck!
  22. Nice set up you have there. I loved watching the fish come near the hole under the ice.
  23. Wow! I can't believe what this guy wrote to "advertise" his business?? My guess would be he wants a very quiet winter! To advertise a no status card policy is inviting the locals to burn down his house, business & his fish huts. Why is he not operating on Nosbonsing this year? "Political reasons"?? He probably has brand new huts this year cuz the natives burnt his down last year. LOL!
  24. Thanx Bunk that was an awesome report! Those char have to be the prettiest fish I've ever seen. That walleye on your website is huge!
