You definitely scored a deal! I was in the brand new Princess Auto in St. Catharines yesterday & scored a good deal on a folding mini scaffold. Solid steel with 4 locking casters. 90 bux on sale for 46.00. Woo Hoo! Perfect height for reaching the ceiling for my project downstairs. I'm applying drywall mud in the ceiling corners, after that I'll need it for painting (cutting in with a brush). It has 2 adjustable steel supports (planks) which are rock solid when I stood on them. I can also use it for hanging my Christmas lights on the troughs in the driveway area. Much more comfortable than standing on a step ladder that only has a 3" wide ladder rung.

Too bad it's such a long drive. 22 hours from St. Catharines! I'd be there for sure! Driving through areas north of the Soo, then Schreiber, Rossport on those steep hills in a snow storm would not be much fun. Fly to Thunder Bay, rent a truck for a week - dam I have good ideas!!

Lottsa good info here. Thanx guys. I would like to share my experiences with burning wood for 30 years. When I first built my house 34 years ago I installed a "Heritage" air tight wood stove in the main floor family room. It created so much heat on the main floor I would have to open the patio door 2' on a cold -15C night. The 2 nd floor was comfy at 20C. After a couple of years I moved the stove to the basement family room which proved to be much more comfortable. The basement level was comfortable, the main floor was also comfy. The 2 nd floor was however a little cool. I believe in the old saying - warm basement, warm house. I also exchanged 6 of my 2'X4' basement ceiling tiles with open egg crate type ceiling tiles to allow more heat to rise & warm the floor of the main level. I would suggest you install a stove or fireplace (insert) at the lowest level of the dwelling. I burnt 12 - 15 face cords of hardwood for over 30 years. I was able to scrounge a lot of it for free, also bought a couple of bush lots from the MNR over the years for cheap wood. If I had to purchase this amount of wood over the years it would have been very expensive. I might has well just turn up the thermostat. A couple of negatives with burning wood in my airtight are. My high efficiency furnace was not coming on, therefore the electronic air filter was not functioning & neither was the humidifier. Our house was very dry, which is not healthy either. Also the dust in the house created by burning wood was horrendous. My wife could dust furniture twice a day & I could still see dust on the table tops.

Perch coloured Go Getters with a 1" chunk of dew worm for walleye in the northern Ontario lakes I frequent, followed closely by the original floating rapala, black/silver. The rest of my tackle in 3 tackle bags is used primarily for ballast!! LOL!

Good topic. I'd like to share my recent experience (June) of getting brakes repaired on my F150 that involved a quote from my local Ford dealer. Dealer quoted $2600.00 to install 4 new rotors, 4 sets of pads, & 1 front calliper that they say was seized. I almost went for the repair but, declined as I wanted to get prices for the parts. I called our local Napa dealer, was quoted $580.00 for their best rotors & pads. I did the job myself in my driveway. Yes it took 12 nhours of my time but I saved myself $2,000.00. That Ford dealer will never see me again! Oh & the front calliper was not seized. BEWARE!!

I can't comment on Eagle Lake particularly as I've never fished there. I will say Ear Falls, which is nearby, is an awesome fishery. I was fortunate to say I fished the English River in late June of this year & was very impressed by the numbers & quality of walleye. Contact Rick (Manitoubass) he lives in that area, he'll set up on some fantastic spots.

Hey Rick, obviously a great number of members appreciate your efforts - so keep your post/pix coming!! I am a big fan of reading everyone's reports & viewing their pix when time permits. I enjoy all the posts about technical problems as well. Guys need advice on new truck tires, repair an outboard problem, how to install new brakes, installing a new roof ... the list is endless. I have learned a lot from these type of reports. I have never posted pix cuz I don't know the procedure. But that's my own fault. Also, in order to post pix of fish - I'd have to catch one first! LOL!

I loved reading your recent posts Rick & as I stated before your pix are awesome! Other boards I visit have been short on fishing reports lately as well. Maybe because it's in between seasons for these people. Drifter good to see you got into the lakers. I do miss your thread of your cabin build. I was in Kashechewan for 8 weeks & may have missed some recent updates.

We paid 10 cents for a glass off draft beer at the Holiday Inn on Lake St. in St. Catharines as we sat on the men's side! The waiter would deliver 10 glasses of beer at a time. My brand new 1974 Ford pick up cost $3668.00 out the door! A single scoop ice cream cone was 12 cents at Avondale dairy in St. Catharines. Last year while at Avondale my wife & I paid $12.00 for 2 cones & now they weigh your ice cream cone!
