Room for you in my shack any time you want Bernie. Same goes for you Clayton. No biasses here. I don't like the odd 40-50 inch muskie that accidentally dies in the nets but that is my only issue.
I coppied this off of another site. Just saying there are still walleye to be caught on Nipissing. I did better this year then any of the last 3 years. I don't fish hard. I just like to sit in the hut and try to catch fish. I will fish much harder this summer.
Not my info.........
Did the last trip for the season up to Nippising ..Greening Bay cottages . Great trip Ice was good lots of fish 36 keeper walleyes lots of perch enough for 9 guys and to many Ling to count and who would want to any way and oh yes a few herring
Like I said I didn't build it. The toilet was only used for #1's from the ladies this season. I use the area to store my rods and gear because it is closed in by a curtain and it hides my "good" stuff.
Yep. I went into BPS about 3 years ago and asked some guy at the counter for a medium priced baitcaster. Not the cheapest and not the most expensive. I came away with a cheepo Diawa Procaster. It is simple and works but the drag adjustments suck and it would never land a big fish. You get what you pay for and starting cheap won't sell you on baitcasting.
My hut is 8 x 12 with the door at one end. The beds are 6' 4" long on either side. They both fold up tight to the wall when not in use or also serve as benchs. I made fold out legs for support and then used eye bolts in the framing of the hut and the beds and cambuckle straps for support. Beds are 24" wide and they sre 20" off the ground when set up which works for sitting and looking out the windows. I bought the shack the way it is minus the beds so I can't do much with the lay out. My hut has a Coleman oil furnace in it and also has a small partitioned bathroom area and the far end away from the door. It makes my usable space only 10 x 12. It is not insulated and not finished on the inside. I put some pictures up in the show off your hut thread but no beds in it at that time. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48764&st=20&p=541237&hl=shack&fromsearch=1entry541237 and there are also pictures of it in the Lake Nipissing GTG thread http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49050&st=160&p=549199&hl=shack&fromsearch=1entry549199
Buckster, I was in the same situation as you when I bought my HDS5 and because I am North of the great lakes I had to purchase the HotMaps "C" which is all of Canada. I chose the Platinum Lake Maps because it had a few neat features that I'll never use. It covers 1700 lakes including 1000 high def lakes (not Nipissing though).
I think is was about $180.
Mike if you're gonna be out on South Shore talk to Rod Caster (Chad). He has been doing alright for the evening bite. I am getting a few eye, and hope my new spot is more productive. Where nis your shack now? In C. Bay, guys are doing well just past Wasi Falls and also in front of Terrace Suites.
I believe it is on the Ottawa River right? If so I have been into the Beauchesne bay and we spot fished for pike. Saw ots of big fish but couldn't get them to commit. I knew a guy who guided there,,,Steve Chenier. He did a show with Bob Izumi.
Good job R.C. just one 14" walleye for me tonight. Don't like where I moved the shack to. Depth ranges from 15'-22' but a real gradual slope with no structure. Gonna move it again
Dara, All great advise. I usually tie down my shack with an anchor (2x2 turned sideways in a hole tied to the shack) but I was hoping my 8x12 shack wouldn't move. I brought my chainsaw out but no gas with my cheap little Polan it would have saved me a buch of time and sore muscles.
